Genres You Just CANNOT Get Into...

JRPG's don't have that much appeal to me true... Mostly I just dislike the rendering and style... The gameplay itself is fine but the cutesy thing they try to do outweighs any violent or horror aspect that can be drummed up in any JRPG game.

Sports games also I can't get into because I don't have that much interest in sports in real life (but a little bit), so I don't really want to pretend I'm Rafael Nadal (or whoever) in a game.

Fighter games have always sucked apart from the ORIGINAL Super Smash Brothers game (Melee and Brawl may have more features but they lacked the aesthetic). Oh also, Turok: Rage Wars was crazy fun because it was essentially a fighter game presented in FPS format and therefore was acceptable.

What else is there? Hmm... RTS's can sometimes be alright... MMO's can be alright if you never get involved with the fan base... FPS games are pretty bland and same-ish these days but I can always have even just a little fun with them... Turn Based Strategy is godly, Heroes of Might and Magic 3 is the greatest game of all time... Platform games are alright to pretty good most of the time...

What else can I not get into...

Oh... Role Playing Games... You know? The ones with pads and paper and dice with too many sides and stuff? It may be a lifestyle for some, but its something I can never see myself being interested in.

War games. Holy crap, I never thought I'd see the day where repetitiveness is an art form! Seriously, get over war games. It's the same thing over and over and over and over and over again...
(there is more to this rant, but the last time I called something 'an idiot' I got probation'd, so I'm protecting myself)
/rage.

Musical. Couldn't be bothered with it.
Not even Gitaroo Man?! Gaaaah!

Like a lot of people, I don't like sports games. Notable exception being Blitzball in FFX. Yeah, I know, but it's a mini game... which is a sport!
I also don't like racing games outside of F-Zero. Don't know why I like F-Zero so much but GX was the only racing game I've ever bought and not had a fit of buyer's remorse.

I do like just about everything else, though. Like those games where you can be a lawyer or a farmer, or just some dude trying to kill the chinese dude who killed his father? I love those!! So yeah, as long as it isn't a sports or racing title, there's a good chance I'd like it as long as it was a good game.

Racing games... Simply don't understand them. Perhaps I'll give a try to PURE next month, this will be the first racing game I'll play. Well, I've played some on my mobile phone, but you get the idea... And I've been playing games for more than 8 years...
Don't know, perhaps I should try something like GT5 as my first racing game...

Also I don't play sports games, but I simply don't like sports.

Hack & Slash, etc.

This means I dislike God of War, Prototype, Infamous, and will probably dislike the gameplay for Brutal Legend. Take that!
Have you seen Infamous?

There's neither hacking nor slashing in that game.
Either way, I think it's very boring. There's no strategy, no skill, no depth. If I was a jerk, I'd say those three things are absent in all H&S games.
There is, it simply doesn't take center stage. The strategy works around in the background, and your expected to figure out how to use it yourself, not just be told it. As for Brutal Legend, you don't have to play the story mode. There is multiplayer you know, and it is very different, and significantly more strategy based then the actual game.

JRPG's i dont like the whole... wondering down a blatantly safe area... then all of a sudden bad guys jump down from nowhere... and instead of just attacking the shit out of them you stop... pick one character... pick his move... and attack.. then wait for them to hit you

Sport and games like Guitar Hero. Why play the sport virtually when you do it in *gasp* REAL LIFE?!? You meet more people and get fit, what's not to like. Also, with music games, same thing. In the long run, doing an actual instrument will help you I think. I myself do guitar and clarinet (and hopefully saxophone soon as well YES). 'Sides, I play games to do things that I can't do in real life.

Sports, despise them utterly, as well as racing.
Burnout is awesome cause it contradicts everything a real racer stands for; Crash and ruin as much as you possibly can.

RPG's, RTS' and FPS' ought to be my favourites, though. I mean, they allow me to do things I won't be remotely able to in real life (Such as being a knight or a mage, a military commander or self-made soldier, in respective order. FYI, when I was conscripted, I did what I could to get 'unfit for service', I'm practising pacifism. Conscription can go suck it)

For me, I'd have to say the Guitar Hero/Rock Band series, as well as most sports games. I've just never particularly liked them, despite their popularity.

I'm a renaissance gamer. I can get into any genre as long as it's good.

Oh wait, except sports games, BORING!
I agreee, I can get into every genre, except sports games. And I can still get into some sports games - extreme sports games, to be exact, like the Tony Hawk series, skate. and Skate 2. Also, SSX and the like are pretty decent.

racing games (exept burnout revenge still got that one)
sports games (exept red card i wish they made a new one)
music games
fighter games (like tekken)
any crap game (e.g. haze, heavenly sword, turok)
any game with ennoying flaws (e.g. turoks aiming, killzones aiming)

i currently own like 2 rpg and i dont find them fun to play but i get hooked. i dont know how tho... although ive completed them so there replay value is a little crap (theyre oblivion and fallout 3) they're the same game swap swords for guns, magic for vat and change the style to a more grey/brown dull scenery and make it derpresive and bam done. i now make myself not even go near rpgs as i get hooked. sigh
so technically i cannot get into them as im forcing myself away from them.

all that leaves are shooters and platformers really.

a question for you. yes you.
would you rather have a world were
(A)no shooter games of any kind
(B)only shooter games

for me its A

(that question was also a reference if anyone gets it you get a massive cookie)

RTS's for me.
I played alot in the earlier days but they just don't do it for me anymore. I guess it's just a lack of time.

Almost all hack n' slash games (Ninja Gaiden, Devil may Cry, God of War, Conan the Barbarian etc) are just really boring to me. It's all the same, excessive gore, women with big bouncing tits and repetative grinding through about a billion identical enemies. For me at least it's boring to play and boring to watch... there is one exception though and that is Otogi: Myth of Demons, a game where the art is so beautiful and the music so amazing and the scenery so awe inspiring and the combat so frenetic that I still play it to this day.

The other major genres I hate are sports games and racing games.

RTS for me, I can't stand them but yet all of my friends seem to love them. I've tried so many times to enjoy them... I just can't.
