Why does he keep trying to fix something that all the fans agree is perfect? Is he trying to make them as sucky as the new trilogy just so they all match in quality?

Vader should be silent. You can see him processing thoughts, choosing between son and master. He was conflicted and he never should any kind of emotion through out the original trilogy. So him screaming "Noooo" is stupid and not him. Vader was awesome and they shouldnt make him closer to the whiny ***** in the prequels.

Obi one scream - He says sandpeople are easily scared off so him making a scream and looking scary works. The new scream sounds to processed in a machine.

20 years from now Lucas will release another version with all the backgrounds in the original trilogy replaced with cgi versions. Yes he is free to change bits, but why does he change stuff for no real reason? If anything he should be changing the prequel trilogy. They are only small changes, but you do wonder what else he will change.

So you're just mad, because you can't get what you want, then joining the bandwagon of peopel claiming lucas raped their childhood, and kileld star-wars? To be fair, i haven't seen you rage on that level, so take my comment with a grain of salt, i don't consider you to be rageing that way, i just wonder why you try to defend the level of rage, far exceeding what i have quoted you for, with the sound statement, that you would've liked the original on blu.-ray.
So you put me on the level of child raping rage and then take it back the next sentence? Classy.

At no point did I defend that. There are a few extremists saying Star wars is dead, and even more if you care to look freaking out at the "fanboys" going crazy. People shold be able to talk about something stupid without people over reacting and calling them crazy, telling them to get a new hobby or accusing everyone of being at the same level as "My childhood got raped"

I want an HD cut of Star Wars without Jar Jar at finale of RotJ. This does not mean anything extreme.
I was kind of unsure about your level of hate for the bnew films, seeing how you didn't post any extreme nerd-rage, but still seemed to disagree with me calling extreme nerd-rage out for beeing stupid.
In hindsight, i can see how the paragraph was poorly phrased, and i had no intentions of insulting you, I simply failed horribly at getting my point across.
When you staretd arguing against me, i wrongly assuemd you were part of the crowd i was trying to adress with my original post, the people rageing beyond anythign reasonable, about how lucas is fucking up star wars.

I don't consider wanting a HD cut of teh unaltered original extreme, or even remotely stupid.
I would consider a rage campaign to get it stupid, but to my knowledge, you haven't done that.

Lucas didn't make Star Wars Lucas made the prequels.

Everyone involved with the first Star Wars movies contributed a lot to the films but in the prequels everyone involved had no spine and agreed with everything he said even though you can see on there faces they know Lucas is a **** with no good ideas.

Can you see the difference, its pretty clear.

I'm probably wrong though I'm just loosely quoting Plinkett's reviews on the three prequels I seen last year.
This. The original movies George took criticism and advice. Prequels everyone assumed he knew what he was doing.
This guy says it better than I could, and I agree with both of you. Warning, this is the first in a series of 7 videos, all 10 minutes long, but all of which are excellent. You should also check out his Star Trek movie reviews, if you cross fandoms like that.

No worries!

I think there's as much anti nerd rage as nerd rage going on. But hey, its the internet

If you don't like it, don't fucking watch it. Somebody seriously needs to shove every whining Star Wars fan into a locker. It's pathetic.
You can choose to ignore retcons, you know.

A few?

These 200 or so?

And remember, these are all permanent. No matter how good or bad they are.

I knew he was going to make changes. I'm not really that bothered about Star Wars anymore, but how many times does he want to keep making changes? This is now a joke, who is going to change Star Wars futher after Lucas is dead? ... No one.

At least it cannot get worse than this.

Meh. Actually, the Darth Vader one doesn't seem that out of place, if anything i always thought it was kind of weird that he doesnt say anything during that particular scene.

As for the obi wan one, well it sounds a little silly, but i get why its been done, it's meant to sound like he's using the force to make an intimidating noise, where as before it just sounded like he was blowing on a whistle or something, and why that scared the freakin sand people, with their guns and chanting, i never really understood.
I keep seeing this and it bothers me. There is a ton of internal conflict going on. The scene is way more intense when he says nothing. I mean, do they really have to have him verbalize what he is feeling for anyone to get it?
I see your point, but I don't know, i quite like the introduction of the two "No's", because it makes him seem more human again, rather than just Darth Vader.

Just a matter of opinion i guess, though i can't say i'll be going out and buying ANOTHER updated version of the movies, they practically need DLC for the amount of times they fiddle with them...

Unless you are willing to pirate it from a personal collection, or steal the surviving copy that Congress has, because the American Government think it's important enough to be deemed a national treasure, then no.

That's what the real fuss is about. As I quoted earlier, Lucas is destroying those to make way for his new vision. A vision untarnished by people questioning his "genius". That lead to his original re-writing Star Wars 4 times to get it from the crap he started with.

Also losing the paedophilic plot-lines etc.

And given that Alec Guinness no longer appears in RotJ...has his estate just been cut out of the royalties?

Lucas is even questioning the Lucas that originally made those films. And he was only the guy that said "Act Harder".

He has made at least two more confirmed changes. Here's the first one.

I can tolerate this one, I can grit my teeth and power through it. It's near the end of the movie and Return is already a clownshoes silly movie cause of the Ewoks.

But this next scene, THIS NEXT SCENE.

FUCK YOU LUCAS! FUCK YOU AND DIE!
The "NOOO" seems out of place, to be honest. And the dragon call is just fuckin' laughable. Sounds like some drunk college kid trying to be funny. :-/

Those seem like strange things to ad into the movies. Obi Wan's call seems to have no place IMO. The darth vader no's well I dont think the longer drawn out one has much place but the first one just as a kind of moment of defiance to the emporer could fit

These debates always come up. I think this person says it all:
"People who alter or destroy works of art and our cultural heritage for profit or as an exercise of power are barbarians"
Who said that? Mr. Lucas himself. Hypocrite much?

Well... maybe there IS something in that theory Iron Liz had: George Lucas is crazy, and he wants to destroy what he created- but not by throwing it away. Instead, ha makes the franchise rot from the inside, creates crappy sequels and adds in unnecesary changes to the original trilogy until it shatters to pieces.
...okay, I made up most of that theory right now, but I'm pretty sure that's what she meant.
Mission accomplished, I'd say. As a kid, I thought Star Wars was the greatest thing ever and was naïvely joyous when they announced the prequels ("more Star Wars must be a good thing"), but now I avoid anything Star Wars related, because it's essentially become a guarantee of shitness. I genuinely don't understand why so many people still care enough to get upset over these changes.

This is why. [http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/wireStory?id=12489631]

These aren't just films anymore. They're vestiges of history. Not even The 39 Steps has been remade so often, and all of those are still available to buy.

This is Murdoch/Mugabe/Gaddafi level rewriting. And it insults all of the people who originally were in it. Darth Vader was a stormtrooper name in the original script, and wasn't Luke's father until Empire. By retrofitting the "Noooooo" into episode 6, he's re-writing the plot-arc that he himself laid down in 81.

Lucas said:
?It's all being buried with me, ... All copies of the two trilogies will be brought to my gravesite within one month of my death and laid to rest with me.?
This man is a danger to the history of film.

The first "...no" was tolerable but the "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" AGAIN was just fucking stupid.

It was bad enough that they made him into a whiny ass emo in the prequels but then they do that.

and BY ODIN'S BEARD! that second one is just god damn retarded. What did Obi-wan stub his toe on a rock or something?

Glad I have the DVD box set already and wont bother with any "new" ones.
