If you don't want to get pregnant, it's your responsibility to prevent it.
Because the only way EVER for a woman to get pregnant is through consensual, knowingly unprotected sex.

Maybe women should have thought this through before lying to men about what they want.
So hang on, all women, everywhere, are guilty for what a particular group say they like because it's lying about what everyone likes?

Something I'm really curious about, hoopyfrood, where the hell did you go to 'learn' about feminism?

I would much rather have a wife that has a great steady job than one that just stays home. Reason being, say I'm a flight nurse (I am working towards that btw) and my wife is a nurse in the emergency department. Our combined income would be almost 200k. with that type of income it would be alot easier for us to take care of things financially, plus the kids are in school for most of the day so what would they be missing out on?

The real world.
Funny thing, what I learnt about feminism, I learnt by paying attention to what's going on, looking at the media, reading the blogs of feminists, listening to what women had to say about their lives and, ya know, doing some goddamned research. How about you?

That is what we are talking about.
And you seem to be missing the realities of your favourite 'Real world'. Women don't have absolute power to say yes or no. Women often don't realise they even have the right to say "no", loud and clear, or to expect that it be heard. In this situation to say that it's all the woman's fault and responsibility is like saying that someone who gets robbed is guilty because they weren't prepared to stand up and tell the thief to fuck off.

Where did I say anything about all women everywhere? Where did I talk about some group?
When you start saying that "women" are guilty for what men perceive as what women want you're tarring all women, everywhere with the brush of a liar.

Here are some good links about feminism in general:

Finally, A Feminism 101 Blog [http://finallyfeminism101.wordpress.com/] - This one is good at covering basics and answering the annoying questions that crop up in nearly every basic feminism discussion.

Feminist Literature [http://www.feministliterature.blogspot.com/] - Obvious from the title.

Yes, You Are [http://tomatonation.com/?p=677] - This addresses what makes a feminist a feminist. Feminists have a wide range of political beliefs but the beliefs that are necessary to be a feminist, this link covers them.

What causes rape? Anatomy of a rape culture [http://www.amptoons.com/blog/archives/2004/02/11/what-causes-rape-anatomy-of-a-rape-culture/] - This one, it's not an easy read and kudos if you get all the way through it while really paying attention to what it says.

Think women have achieved equality? Think again [http://blog.shrub.com/archives/tekanji/2005-11-22_72] - Just read this one. Then think about it. Then read it again.

I'm a feminist. I believe in equality and I believe that everyone deserves to be treated primarily as a person.

Again, we are not talking about rape, so don't try to change the subject.
I'm including situations where the woman either doesn't know about contraceptive methods, or doesn't want to bring it up from fear of insulting the man or getting rejected.

I already told you, probably several times, that I am generalizing. And it was women who decided (or claimed) that they want sensitive doormats.
And using generalisations here is bullshit. One group of women said they wished for sensitive men, doormats or otherwise. That doesn't mean that all women want them. Part of feminism especially third-wave feminism is embracing that women like different things in men.

No, I'm not. The person who wrote that can fuck right off.

What causes rape? Hmm, I don't know. Maybe... the fact that there are people who don't have any morals? Nah, that couldn't possibly be it. Anyone who believes that the Western world is a "rape culture" is batshit fucking insane.

Think women have achieved equality? Think again [http://blog.shrub.com/archives/tekanji/2005-11-22_72]
Do you really take this drivel seriously?
I'm sitting here feeling sad that you refuse to examine your perception of the world to see if you can improve it further. I hope that some day you change your stance on this and I wish you well.

Yes, because it's just unthinkable that women would first embrace feminist ideals like getting rid of gender roles, and then notice later that they don't actually work in reality (or maybe they knew all along, who knows).
Because we have totally managed to get rid of gender roles. They were gone, just like that, BAM! No more of those little shits. The underlying presumptions too, the stereotypes and all the rest. Met the same fate.

Sorry, but there's a hellishly long way to go before you can state that.

Make me a sammich. =D

Just kidding. In all reality I think that gender roles are better in some societies and terrible in others, it all depends on the culture. But one thing I think either gender should never be is a doormat for the other, nor should they be considered an object devoid of thoughts and feelings.
