All it says to me is that we who frequent gaming forums, we who follow E3 closely are not who Microsoft are targeting, and they know the audience they want doesn't hear any of this, so it really doesn't matter what they say.
To me, dumb regarding a business means taking actions that will decrease profits.
And while their current actions may decrease sales, I think they'll be increasing profits.
I believe the profit lost from those of us who won't put up with their crap, will be recouped and then some by those that don't care.
To me that's not really dumb, unethical sure, but not dumb.
