Getting raped is like getting a flat tire. Also, it's God's will. Fancy that.

It really strikes me the lack of control people have in what we supposedly claim is a democracy.

If something is stupid and everyone can tell it's stupid, WHY CAN'T WE JUST CHANGE IT? It feels like no matter what happens people just have to take it, or at least they think they do.

Religion has been misunderstood by a lot of people, these people included. I know its easy for me to say "why don't you move state" but I realize its not that easy. The best way to think about it is that if these women still vote him in they understand what they are in for. Rape is not something I or anyone else should ever think is okay but in all seriousness. Natural selection will do its job.

No offense, but where does "God's Will" figure into this? I read the article and I don't see where it mentioned that Getting raped is "God's will".

Can we stop the christianity bashing and just talk about how much of an idiot this guy is? You don't necessarily have to be a religious person to support/disapprove of abortion. I'm Catholic, and I'm pro stem cell research.

Anyways, back to the topic at hand, like I said, that guy is an idiot, a complete idiot, his comments were completely inappropriate, and it's a shame that more people are worried about "Weiner's Wiener" then the stuff this man is saying.
Brent Crane says that everything is part of God's plan, so getting raped is his will. It's in the article around the middle of it.

If God (and by God you mean the Christian God)is all-good, how could something evil be his will? Regardless of your opinions on Christianity, that just isn't logical.
To quote Epicurus...

"Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able?
Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing?
Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing?
Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him God?"

That kind of applies to all monotheistic religions. :x

This ignores the Doctrine of Free Will though. God has given Man the power to choose to the good or the evil; ie: he didn't create robots to blindly follow him because that would have defeated the purpose of creating them in the first place. It also ignores the fallen nature of Man, which would explain where evil comes from.

I don't want to start a religious war over this though (I'm a Roman Catholic btw).
Giving man the choice to commit evil falls under 'He is not willing to prevent evil' Since...you know...he would have given permission to commit it by saying 'Do whatever.' (And thus not preventing it.)
God isn't your personal butler or batman. The fact he allows you to exist is gift enough, and if you ask for anything more then you look rather ungrateful and selfish. He gave you tools, use them. God isn't going to do things for you because you are lazy and refuse to use the tools. That is why evolution and darwinism exist. A parent wont support a 40 year old with no job, and acts like a 10 year old.

(deist)
No offense, but your god sounds like kind of a dick. He created a world, created or allowed evil to exist (both man made dickery and natural disasters which cause quite a bit of world suffering but by their very nature have nothing to do with the free will of mankind), and then put us in this unfortunate, dangerous and brutal place to test us, make sure we're thankful? to him? Fuck that guy. Didn't ask nor volunteer to be brought into existence, so I think that cleanly nixes the silly "free will" argument.

Ha yea Kansas is only there because Nebraska would win most boring state by default.

and OP I'm assuming you were joking about the whole flaw of the democratic gov thing, because this is more of flaw of the human race. If he wasn't elected then he would get a radio show or on T.V or something where he can spread his backwards views. If he has done some great things for the state of Kansas then I'm not going to hold is existential views against him.

Real easy to focus on the bad.

This thread, that article, and rape in general. It's all over dramatized.

I wouldn't equate it with a spare tire, but I wouldn't equate it with a mind shattering life altering experience either.

Also the whole making abortions legally implausible(the actual issue of the article, not the shock jock attention grabber) is just going to end up with a lot of self abortions again, I can't wait for the backfire. I want to never understand the train of thought that these guys follow, but unfortunately I do understand it.
I agree with this poster fully.

Also is homeboy not right? Are you not suppose to buy health insurance? Car insurance? Shit happens in this world people. You might get mugged. You might get raped. Your house may catch on fire. You could get in an autoaccident with a drunk driver and be paralyzed.

Gaiz, he can't both have a valid point AND be a troll. So, which is it? (Mostly directed at Vault101). Feel like supporting that 'troll' point? :x
I trolled circles around her in a thread called "post your controversial opinions". I posted mine just like everyone else, but apparently it was too controversial because a lot of people who weren't me came out of the thread with a severe case of the sore ass.

Apparently from now on, any time I say anything about women it is automatically trolling, even if i'm in favor of something like abortions. If that's not butthurt I don't know what is.

Well, for me, this is just another number on my 'List of why humans are stupid'

I find it hilarious that this asshole said that, and evidently didn't bat an eyelash.

Seriously? 'I have a spare tire on my car'? So this guy is comparing driving over a random sharp-object lying on the road, that just happened to be large enough to puncture his tire, with some sexually uncontrolled, morally void fuck-head deliberately HUNTING DOWN women, and raping them? Whatever he's on, should be WAAAAY more illegal than it is, or isn't, whatever the case may be.

Planning ahead for rape shouldn't be necessary in the first place. Even then, 'abortion insurance' is just plain stupid. It won't help the women that got raped to know that she's ngot good insurance, because she JUST GOT RAPED.

I could see carrying around a big-ass pistol and blowing the guys balls off being called 'preparedness', because, if he's got no balls, and is bleeding all over the pavement, you don't have to worry about getting pregnant now, do you?
And if 'Gods will' is getting a woman raped, just so she can have a child grow up to be a singer, then he's on some fucking powerful Psychotropics, because That.Is.Pathetic.

This man should think over what he said, and I should be there to see the look on his face when it hits him what he said, and how completely wrong it could, and is, being interpreted.

I can just imagine the largest, most helpless look of "Oh... Fucknuts" glazing over his eyes.

Also, on a different note, I find it so far above hilarious that they're separating 'rape' and 'incest' so obviously. The term 'Incest' is just people that share blood having sex, while 'Rape' is sex that is IN ANY WAY against the man or woman's will.
Incest can be consensual, Rape cannot. If it's a girls brother or father that raped her, incest is just an addendum, RAPE is what should be the focal point, and RAPISTS in general deserve to be shot in the face.

I apologize in advance if my views offend anyone, they tend to be a bit radical for most tastes.
I prostrate myself for you. I think what you said is just AMAZING.

But isn't removing our free will the greatest evil? A malevolent would have no issue with this, however a benevolent god would take every issue with removing someones free will.

Oh god. Fuckin' Idaho. I have to live in this state, too. I don't like that religion is overkill around here, and this shows that to an extensive degree. Unfortunately i don't think that way, and also, rape being 'God's will' is actually wrong. If you go by the bible, God has us make our own choices. 'God's will' doesn't really happen. Ever.

Homestly, it's the things like this that convince me that e need a totalitarian democracy as our type of government. Just have a dictator with absolute power, whith the only stipulation being that you can only be elected once, and the term of office is two years.

I think after a certain age you should be forced into retirement if you hold a position of power in the Government so we can weed out these medieval views some of them have.

It would help immensely in places like Australia

If i'm understanding you right, you're not understanding the story right.

The guy is making it illegal for health insurance plans to cover anything + abortions. Basically, they'll have their own abortion insurance plans available within a month or three of the law coming out.

It's not a big deal in itself, actually it has very little impact on anything on it's own. Insurance companies will probably just attach multiple policies to one person at the same time for about the same price. The strategy, however, is to slowly make it so difficult to get an abortion that 99% of women give up. Only, in the real world a lot of women will just head over to their closets, grab a metal coathanger, and do the job themselves. Resulting in all sorts of nasty infection deaths, and emergency rooms and hospitals being packed full of even more completely preventable injuries.

Art thou enraged?

I was just using the same strategy this thread was using. Why is it okay when s/he does it, but not okay when I do it?

Edit: Isn't this the second time I've caught you in a clear contradiction now? And you say I'm the troll.
but you are, youve clearly addmited it yourself

anyway want some food? my argument is that unless youve been raped you really should be saying "oh..its not THAT bad" that is if thats what youre saying

if thats his view on rape what other retarded oppinions does he have? what other laws will he support for reasons as stupid as rape is like a flat tire?
It's because the media is backwards and needs to be overhauled. They cover the stories about the lives of celebrities, and leave stuff like this out so people don't really hear about it

Look up sarcasm in the dictionary.

Stare at that definition for a few hours until is really sticks in your head.

And don't try the "Well he should have made it obvious" routine. You not being able to understand the humor in his statement is entirely 100% your fault.
