Yeah...

I have no words (besides the next few about how crap this movie looks)

Can I just say that the black lady is the most token token black character ever? Her portrayal almost seems kinda racist. And the ghost guns or whatever... Hot damn.

Thoughts?

To preface what I'm about to say, I'm not familiar with the franchise at all, aside from picking up a few references over the years via pop culture osmosis.

If their goal was to hook folks like me, then it didn't work based on my reaction...or more accurately, LACK of reaction. It looks like your typical dumb, lowest common denominator, creatively bankrupt "comedy" that I've come to expect from Hollywood. Frankly, I can't muster the energy to even get upset about it, much less excited.

If however their goal was to bank on nostalgia...well, they've failed even more spectacularly if all the dislikes and negative comments are any indication.

Oh boy, that doesn't look good at all.

As much as I like me some Ghostbusters, I guess that's a pass. I'll just watch the original again.

I kinda like the Tim Burtoney ghosts and bright vibrant visuals, but otherwise yeah... it didn't look very good if I'm honest.

I'm trying not to get into the nitty gritty of it because I *am* without any doubt a big Ghostbusters fan, and I realize I can't let nostalgia blind me to the fact this movie is clearly trying to do its own thing with the premise. But even so... bleh. I can see like a billion little things I dislike just as a ghostbusters fan, but also just from a humour standpoint and an acting standpoint I'm hardly convinced.

Really, opening on a puke gag? Loud yelling black lady? Nerdy quirky scientist one? A slap gag? THIS is the stuff you're putting forward to sell the movie to me? Not only was it unoriginal, I also just didn't find it interesting or entertaining.

Hopefully the movie will be decent, but that trailer completely failed to sell me on it.

I had kind of the opposite reaction.

When I heard the trailer was out, I expected it to be a train wreck, but after watching it... I don't think it was. The 'loud black lady' is indeed loud, black, and a lady, but not quit as much as I expected. The gear looks kind of dumb, but not as dumb as I expected. Melissa McCarthy is meh, instead of headache inducing bad, as I expected.

I still have no interest in seeing the movie, but I can now see how it could kind of work. That's more then I could say before the trailer.

I went in with extremely low expectations and... Wow, it's pretty terrible. Not only did I find none of it funny, it also looked incredibly cheap.

Uh, it looks fine? I think they captured the spirit (hurr) of the original well. Ghostbusters #1 wasn't even good...

Well, yes, it looked bad, but that doesn't mean it's a bad movie. Trailers tend to be rubbish nowdays, taking themselves way too seriously. Ruined the temporary possession bit by revealing it's just slapped out of her straight away without anything happening.

Though...yeah, people have been talking about the black character.

Also, 30 years ago? Wasn't the second one in 2000, before the Y2K rubbish got cool?

Wash your mouth out, heathen :p

Hmm, I'm truly unsure what to think about this. The proof will be in the pudding, so to speak.

Ghostbusters sucked. I don't know why everyone is so worked up about a sequel and women and blah blah blah. It was just not my cup of tea. The whole concept was average at best. Yes, there I said it.

It is a bad trailer. If those are the best jokes in the movie, it's going to suck. I blame the trailer more than the movie though - why are we doing this EPIC ACTION trailer routine (for the 4000th time) when this is a quirky comedy about shooting ghosts with lazers?

Also, what's with the black character being the one with the "street smarts"? Is this still the 80s?

It looks more forgettable than actively bad. It'll probably do alright in the box office, get a 50-60% on Rotten Tomato and then fade from our collective memory.

Yeah, aggressively lacklustre isn't it?

(Fuck you spellcheck, "lacklustre" is a word.)

I never did manage to board the Ghostbusters train and I think I can safely say that's not about to change.

I can't see why anyone would want to watch it. Nor can I see why anyone could be bothered hating it.

"Who you gonna call?" - for the crew of this, I recommend a job agency. Preferably for a job in a completely different field, because damn it looks like they completely suck at film-making! Trailers are notorious for putting in the best bits, so either this trailer is trying to buck the trend by putting only the worst bits in or this is going to be an early contender for worst film of 2016!

As someone who has very fond memories of the original and who generally dislikes re-makes, I am biased, but yeah this is sooooo much worse than even my lowest expectations.

Because that was Ernie Hudson role in the ghostbusters.

I don't find the comedic styles of any of the cast appealing. I didn't like Wiig or McCarthy in their respective work and I don't see them changing to suit the source material. It looks like what they're doing is a lazy retread of Ghostbusters and melding it with the modern overblown gross-out generic slapstick comedy that Wiig and McCarthy are known for.

And yeah, what's up with the stereotype of a loud, sassy street-wise black woman who likes Cadillacs?

Eh, he was less of a streetwise black guy and more of an everyman so the other Ghostbusters had someone to explain things too.

I loved the original movie, wasn't a fan of the second one. The cartoon was just rubbish. So the remake leaves me very hesitant - the trailer has some nice effects but the slime/snot jokes and the boisterous black woman makes the humour element seem way too immature this time, just hope they don't end up with burp/fart/toilet jokes aswell, overall it doesn't bode well.
The new music was pretty cool though and I generally don't like reimagined movie themes.
