So all girls are supposed to like the same games?

Surely you should know what she's like. Personally my girlfriend and I have rather different tastes in games, but we've had fun with Diablo 2 and Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance.
Ive never heard of a girl playing diablo 2, can't imagine it.
If my female friends heard you say that, they'd likely tear you apart.

it's interesting to hear them all go on and on about how they game. It's hilarious.

I have one friend who is also the most aggressive FPS player I've ever known

Why not just ask her what she might like? I am sooo fed up with guys assuming that just cause I'm a girl I only like certain types of game.

And if she doesn't know experiment, she might like the "typical" girl games, but she might be into the same stuff you like

Asking a bunch of people who don?t know you or your girl is a rather silly idea.

I know! Why not ask HER. Seriously why is your first thought to come ask the escapist for answers? Even if you just want some game ideas, narrow it down, what genre does she like. RTS? FPS? MMORPG? Literally any game would suit with the info you have given us.

Correct. :)

This is about personal taste, and sure, a good number of girls/women like violent, "manly" :p games, but there is some truth to the stereotype. Also, the amount of time men on average spend gaming is probably quite a bit higher, and inexperienced players (women must then be, logically, on average less experienced) like simpler games, which are now being labeled as girl games. The only games I would call girl-games are Barbie/Pony-games and that sort. With pink covers of course..

My girlfriend likes games, but it's mostly simple stuff, like The Sims, Mario Kart and Facebook-shit. But hey, I've played some Sims and Mario Kart too, I get around genres a lot. She did like trying GTA4, but she didn't want to play any missions, just driving around and over pedestrians. The fact is that she will probably never play the best games on the market, because they're too complicated or too violent.

Erm....ok.
Modnation racers, platformers,...
You know, simple stuff.
Why are everyone comming with such simple stuff?
It's like your assuming that girl gamers are idiots :O

Play a friendly game of COD or a real game.
But for the simple stuff any super mario would do and all that was said above.

I was just going to skim this post and see if I can find anything hilarious in it, and then leave... but...

Yeah, that's how highly I think of the opposite gender!
-_-

Clearly you have not yet been shot in the back quite enough.

OP: L4D/L4D2
... or anything other co-op that you can enjoy yourself as well.
It's not entirely just what sort of game you play with her, but your chances increase when you pick something to play with her, not against her. Though eventually she might start wanting play against you and begin to kick your ass, then you'll be running back to the co-op games. Tongue in cheek. Don't take me serious. I warned you.

Well, we aren't going out, but my best friend, Melissa, came over recently, and we finished Resident Evil 5's Co-op. We plan on finishing another game soon enough.

Not only that, we also played Gears of War 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Dead Space, GTA4, and Battlefield: Bad Company 2.

Maybe your girlfriend would enjoy those games? [sub]Although I doubt it...[/sub]

Let's just say that I saw a girl try to play an FPS before and believe me, it wasn't pretty.
All they seem to be able to do is shoot at the sky or get one shot in before they're ripped to shreds by machine guns.
So yeah, platformers...

Don't you like my Amy Winehouse?
It's not that I have anything against your Amy Whinehouse, I just don't like her in general.
She can't sing, she can't dance and she looks terribly repulsive.
Not to mention her lifestyle.

Play what SHE wants to play, tried that idea yet?

You can't just expect to convert your girlfriend into a gamer solely for your purpose, she has to actually find something she wants to do/play as opposed to "play this with me".

Dunno why people lately are obsessed with making their girlfriends into gamers, I've dated a few good lookers before and they didn't care if I played games.

Final Fantasy (whatever number, they're all the same). It's pretty and doesn't actually involve much gameplay so she'll love it.

Alternatively, be cruel and make her play Silent Hill 2. In the dark. By candlelight. Alone.

My ex enjoyed Super Mario World, Mario Party, and Puzzle Quest. She also got into Animal Crossing for a bit.

My current Girlfriend and I have only ventured into Guitar Hero thus far.

While there seems to be a lot less involvement in gaming from the female gender, I agree that there does not exist such a thing as a "game all girls will love". Though Brentalfloss does seem to have a strong theory about Tetris.

I have played Diablo II, Warcraft III, and World of Warcraft with a number of girls over the years. If you're the one introducing her to gaming, I find a great place to start is with a few classics, and then let them take the reigns so they can find what they enjoy.

...An approach undoubtedly made easier by my retro game library.

Well gears 2 should get her steamed up, all those stong, bulky macho men cutting up scum.
THAT! GET HER TO PLAY GEARS!
Or maybe that's not such a good idea, since the game is so macho she'll grow a beard. o_O

Little Big Planet is very fun though.

I played Diablo 1 and 2. I'm waiting eagerly for Diablo 3.

Really, it depends on what your lady-friend likes. Take her game shopping and see what might interest her. You don't even have to leave your home, just go to gamestop.com. They have screenshots and videos there.

Kudos for asking, though. If I could find a guy who wanted to play multiplayer games with me, I'd be stunned.

Errm...."hide the sausage"

Sorry i just couldn't resist.

Seriously though there is so few co op games this generation and even fewer that are good so this thread is just going to be full of the same 5 titles over and over again, like others have said http://www.co-optimus.com/ is where you really need to go.

I think to be honest XBLA and PSN have better co op games then fully fledged titles so look there and download some trials.
