That is the reason i hate halo online. Kids thinking they are bad ass because they can mash A for a while.
For the games i play, girls in the game are not uncommon, thus, after the first few came by, "omg it's a girl" became rather lame and nothing was said past it till the little kids came on. and theirs always a little kid with a mic so it'd be rather annoying for the girls i would think.
When do you mash A in halo?
I think mashing A alot is what this one ADULT did in Mortal Kombat 3 and he thought he was Badass

I'm not into the competition aspect that guys seem to have over games.

If you don't do something right or the way they would have done it you suck, and if you're a girl you suck even worse because you're a girl. Even if some other gamer, who's a guy, did just as bad or worse than you.
Plus you get the idiots who are shouting retarded comments all the time, or kids who just want to shoot their mouths off and think they are badasses.'I can press this button faster than you can cause my reflexes are the shit!'....go choke on a grenade you wanker.

I play as a recreation anyway, which people (for some reason or another) can't seem to wrap their heads around. Trying to be awesome isn't a priority, having fun is. So, CoD4 and Halo aren't fun online.

To guys, being awesome is fun. But I can understand why girls wouldn't necessarily get into games where the testosterone is cranked a little too high.

Sometimes it's just a little too much, or it's unjustified awesome.

Girls are cool and they generally smell nice!

My missus can usually beat me in racing games. I have no idea why, I am a better real life driver than her, but for some reason, virtually, she kicks my ass!

As a long time Roleplay player I have had a lotta practice at being a lady dispite my RL absance of breasts.
I find it insulting when I'm on an RP server and folks as ((r u a rl f?)) as if I say ((Yes indeed I am.)) Their next question is ((u have cam?))
In non-rp servers of MMO's *shudders* I normally wear a male avatar as everyone is OOC all the time. I don't know why RL gender is so important. I play a female character when I RP to get me into a woman's mindset (I am an actor/writer/crazy person)
Very rarely will I ever claim to be a woman IRL unless I suspect the other player will be a douche about it (Especially if they've been flirting with me for hours)

Back on Topic:
When I play a lady (normally I call myself Carrie) I find people are much more polite then when I'm a dude in MMO's and they are less likely to engage in PvP combat without asking (instead of just plonking the flag down) and they also will be more likely to help me as a newbie then as a guy newbie (I would get called "noob" less and "newbie" or "beginner" more)
I'm often given small concessions as well.

Oh and By-the-way. Voice chat is not accurate for telling someone is of the female persusaion. I normally talk softer and put a classy tinge when I use voice and people still aren't sure...
But then again I'm australian and aussie ladies often sound rather rough and I'm a total fruitcake anyway

I have been personally continually surprised and amazed by the huge number of girls (who are actually very good catches; almost all of them) who play games. I've met a lot of really intelligent people who have proven that they're girls through webcams, audioing and the like.

Yes, all of those have been met through MMOs or forums, though I do know plenty of them also play FPS games, I've never really had a conversation with one of those in-game. It's part of the setup that you're just co-operating as a team for the moment, rather than getting to know each other through hours of conversation like on Guild Wars. The only problem I've ever had with these women is that they are usually unfortunately too far away to want to date.

If you can find one who's nearby to you by luck, give them a chance to show you a photo before you throw out the old 4chan special of "NO GRRLZ ON TEH INTARWEBZ." In doing so, you may just save your future son/daughter(s) from not ever being born.

Men naturally like to feel a sense of superiority. Many species has the male being the hunter and the protector, thereby making the female seem weaker. Men are no different. We just have a thing called intelligence and morals to differentiate from man and beast. We know women are equal to us (and in my case I believe they are superior to us), but there are certain aspects of culture that have been solely male dominated for a long time.

Well, just like the women;s rights movement, there has been an abundance of female gamers who are as good if not better than most male gamers.

Here's my theory. If you are bested by a woman at a video game and you are both single, ask that woman out. Because you've found some one with one of the most bonding common interests there can be.

Dude, arrested development... nice. I cant wait for the movie, hopefully they will bring it back after the movie release.
Haha! I love you man! Not many Arrested Development fans on this website!
Escapists don't like Arrested Development? It's one of my favorite series! I think I preferred it when my ignorance in this matter was still intact.

Sure, why not? Frankly video games w/o girls would be a huge sausage fest! And no one wants that. In fact, my ideal girlfriend can top my scores on Halo(from time to time).....she's also sterile and can produce Mt Dew from her tits, though im not holding my breath on those last two...

Its not that they don't like it, I just haven't seen many people recognize my many AD quotes,

'She's playing a woman!!!'

It sounds like anyone who agrees is only trying to defend themselves so any nearby women won't get angry and attack them like in all the anime they watch too much of.

Anyways, most of the time I can't tell whether someone is a girl or not in a game I play, so I tend not to give a shit.

Also, why are games regarded as a male interest? Because 99.9% of the people playing are men, why else?

I tend not to discriminate without good reason, so unless said girl proves to me that she epically fails at games, I'm not complaining.

What can I say? Guys are arrogant. That's the only way to keep our massive egos and absurd sense of pride from crashing down upon us. On a serious note, I'd say most the guys you run who say that sort of stuff are just plain assholes. They would be to me just as they obviously were to you. The fact that you are a girl only compounds their retarded banter into something even less coherent.

All in all though, I think guys pick on girls in game for the same reason they pick on them in real life. It's a form of flirting.
I've never understood why guys think they can impress the opposite sex by insulting them. Hilarious, yet strange.

Haha, Steve Holt.
Maybe some of these poor souls are just ashamed of their AD knowledge...

Beats the heck outta me. I don't do that, but I have seen it in action and work many a time. I guess the thinking behind it is, knock their self-esteem down so low that they will go out with even you (not you personally).

Nah, I wish. I played a quote game and not a single person knew a classic quote!

Everyone is laughing and bike riding and cornholing but Buster!

So it's in the same fashion that girls have to think that they're always right?
It's getting better, it usually just happens when a new game comes out that everyone has hyped over for months and the anticipation boils over into a huge mess. After a few months things aren't as bad, but you'll still the those that are flat out jerks.
I was just thankful that I had to work on the release of Halo 3 (selling the game, no less. That was bad enough).
