Give me a stereotype of any genre of music and I will post a song that breaks it.

Completely different style, but that's unholy levels of good. And yes, he pulls an orgasm face, but then again, can you blame him when he's playing that good?

Rap stands for retards attempting poetry. Nothing you can post will ever change this opinion of mine. You may think otherwise, but I don't give a damn.

My friend who loves rap has tried to change my opinion with his deep rap artists and what have you. It just sounded like a bunch of retarded black people trying to be deep. The death of music, I tell you.

Bach is rolling over in his grave.
This thread is about stereotypes, not opinions. Also, stop being so melodramatic and elitist, here's some Flobots:

That is completely and utterly retarded. Excuse me while I go and listen to Cello Suite No. 1 to cleanse myself of such nonsense.
You posted quicker than the song could finish, that makes it pretty clear that you're trolling. Hell it was already pretty clear from your first post, rap is not even a musical genre, it's just a vocal style.

Or prove that you're not oh wise master of music, do tell why this is so 'completely and utterly retarded'. Where is the fail in that song hm?

Here's another rap song:

Another one you guys should break (i could but i want to see what you guys post)

All Ska is about trivial Issues.

All new Ska release is just the same bands that were popular in the 90's

One i heard: Fourth wave Ska is not true ska.

Well, That isn't a stereotype, its an opinion so it doesnt exactly fit with the spirit of the forum.

And if it is a stereo type you pointed out that its "stupid black" people

Meaning Eminem, Mike D, Everlast, House of Pain, and all the other white Rappers break your logic.

Plus yes Rap is people reciting "poetry" but then every song with lyrics is just sung poetry.

What the hell is Cello Suite No.1? Also, that Flobots song is alright.

OT: The Screamo seciton of the Crunkcore Fusion-Genre is absolute shit. Case in point - Brokencyde.

People really do need to learn what trolling actually is, instead of so readily throwing the word around. It's rather annoying.

I listened to ten seconds of the song. I had heard it before, and it had annoyed the living shit out of me back when I heard it then. It was in my friends car, and I couldn't demand that he turn it off since he was doing me a favor.

Rap is a genre in this day in age. You could make the argument that it's just a sub genre of hip hop, which I can barely stand as it is, but nothing more. I refuse to listen to that song a full second time.

A common definition of trolling:
Trolling is the act of purposefully antagonizing other people on the internet, generally on message boards.
This is what you're doing. You did not participate in this topic, just posted an aggressive, prejudged opinion without any factual base. You even taunted the readers of this topic by posting that 'Nothing you can post will ever change this opinion of mine.'

That is wilful antagonising, and thus trolling; you're being a troll.

As for the topic at hand, no, rap is simply not a genre. It is and always will be a vocal style and can be used in all kind of musical genres. Rap is to singing as the Spanish guitar style is to guitar playing; the voice is an instrument and can be used in various different ways. Rap is one of those ways.

Rap music has people saying lyrics quasi-musically.

Country music is all about bad relationships, breaking up, trucks, beer, and people crying in their bourbon to their dog. Oh... wait...

That is one of the most awesome things I have ever heard. Violin hoedown vs. the devil!? Why the fuck have I never heard this on a country station?

I can play that song, it's actually really easy. His version is a bit more complicated, but it's easier than it looks.
If you want something hearty skillful, you need a modern-day Bert Jansch. And that's unlikely.
