Give me a stereotype of any genre of music and I will post a song that breaks it.

That is completely and utterly retarded. Excuse me while I go and listen to Cello Suite No. 1 to cleanse myself of such nonsense.
What the hell is Cello Suite No.1?
*Brow twitch*Go kill yourself. Now.
Haha, what? Go fuck yourself. Now.

...Oh, just Youtube'd it. I respect Bach for being a talented musican at the time, but that just flat out bored me.

I'd prefer a heavy guitar riff or a thumping bass-line anyday, my friend.

Do you have a twitchy eyebrow affliction?

Rap stands for retards attempting poetry. Nothing you can post will ever change this opinion of mine. You may think otherwise, but I don't give a damn.

My friend who loves rap has tried to change my opinion with his deep rap artists and what have you. It just sounded like a bunch of retarded black people trying to be deep. The death of music, I tell you.

Bach is rolling over in his grave.
This thread is about stereotypes, not opinions. Also, stop being so melodramatic, here's some Flobots:

I'm agreeing here.

Find me a Lil' Wayne song without 808 Hand Clap.

Norwegian/Swedish Black/Death Metal: I listened to Windir, Cemetary, and Burzum lately and all it was to me was incoherent growing and screaming, fast kick drum work, and texturally-retarded distorted guitars. In other words, complete shit.

The only way to find something that would be "good" is for it to be of an entirely different genre altogether.

Mainstream rap has no variation and his just a bunch of black guys saying "yo" and "respect" and "fo-shizzle".
I think you mean Hip-Hop because once Rap forgot it's Jazz and Blues roots it stopped being rap...

Death metal is just mindless screaming into a microphone

Lots of creative composition, changing time signatures, different styles are played and combined. There are parts with singing too, and the lyrics are well written and unique.
While I will admit that the guitar work was good, I couldnt for the life of me make out any of the words on my own, so my beliefs still are still in place.
agreed it was bad and i like metal

...if that bored you, and didn't move you, but you enjoy such silly things as rap, then you are perfect example of why I think we need to genocide most of todays youth.
Rap? Now, while I enjoy the occasional rap song, it's not up there with my favourite genres.

But yes, it didn't move me, it bored me. I do enjoy "epic" music sometimes though, does wonders for films.

You know what, though? You don't have to be such an elitist dick head. Everyone has different music tastes. Fucking hell, where would the music industry be if all we did was listen to age old music?

I get that the music is well composed, and brilliant for it's time, but it just didn't interest me. Understand that everyone has different tastes.

Okay, you're a pretentious dick with opinions, we get it. Was there anything else you would like to add?

Correction. It's still brilliant today. Also, yes. People have different tastes. Sadly, most people these days have horrible taste. Such is the current state of not only the music industry, but the movie industry.

Bleh.
Horrible taste in your opinion, you fucker. [sub]Maybe a little harsh[/sub]

Now you say the film industry is in a sorry state? Sure there's a lot of shit, but there's still some good too. As it's always been.

But OH WAIT, you watch black & white movies from the 1930s? Am I right?

Wrong wrong wrong wrong, wrong wrong wrong wrongggg, you're wrong!

"Trolling is the act of purposefully antagonizing other people on the internet, generally on message boards."

Half right. It also includes saying falsehoods, things you don't really mean, etc. I mean everything I say.

"This is what you're doing."

This is what you assume I'm doing. You may wish to assume and think I post thinks to antagonize them on purpose, but you'd be wrong there. I've just found in life that I rub people the wrong way with my general manner and the like. Do I give a damn? No. Does this make me a troll? No. Does it make me an asshole? Sure. So, if you wish to call me something, asshole would be appropriate.

Rap is a genre. Your thought on the matter doesn't change that fact. Get over it.
You are saying falsehoods; that rap is a genre. This is simply wrong, what you say doesn't change that fact. Even worse, you have brought not a single shred of evidence to support your side of the argument. That too adds to my claim that you're being a troll.

You just said "rap is a genre, this is fact" and nothing else. That is not constructing an argument, that's just shouting that you're right.

To prove my previous statement, that rap is a vocal style, here's rap in rock:
Here's rap in pop music:
So, where's evidence for your side of the argument? What proves that rap is indeed a genre and not a vocal style.

As for saying this you don't really mean, I don't see why that's a requisite of being a troll. You're not just being an asshole, one can still be an asshole and stay ontopic and actually participate, albeit in an aggressive manner.

You're not doing that, you just posted your opinion and wilfully antagonised everyone else. That's added on top of you acting like an asshole, and I don't see how that addition can be called anything else than trolling.

Oh and just for the record, don't assume that I like the youtube videos I just posted. I find them to be quite awful, but they still prove my point.

I can play that song, it's actually really easy. His version is a bit more complicated, but it's easier than it looks.
If you want something hearty skillful, you need a modern-day Bert Jansch. And that's unlikely.
Heh, is it? I wouldn't know, my guitar skills are limited to Another Brick In The Wall on bass, and even that was years ago (which is a shame, wished I continued on that). It just sounded very difficult. Like how a friend of mine said that this song:
Is actually pretty easy to play on drums, but it makes me go "WOAH!" I can't imagine how that's easy. But if the experts say so.

Oh and I just looked up Bert Jansch, and by the gods that's amazing. I can't really hear how that's more difficult than, say, the Spanish songs John Clark plays. Care to point out the difference?

The film industry is in a far worse state than it ever has been before.

Also, yes. My film taste goes from about the 1930s to the late 1950s. However, the majority of my comedies come from the 80s.
It wasn't really hard to guess. So you're an EXTREME retro-head? That's fine.

A lot of my favourite films are from the 80s too. Back To The Future is my favourite ever film.

But you can't say the film industry is terrible! I'll admit, they do churn out some complete bollocks. But have you seen Inception or Toy Story 3 lately? They were brilliant! We've also got Salt, Expendables, Scott Pilgrim and A-Team coming up. It's a good time for cinema.
