"global warming" is perhaps an inaccurate term, or at least not as consumable for the public. I much prefer "climate change", since it means those fucking idiots who go "GLOBAL WARMING??? THEN WHY IS IT SNOWING??? OHOHOH YOUR LIEBERAL AGENDA!!" don't have as much to shout about
Also in England the gulf stream will move up north due to climate change so England (In theory) would actually get colder as a result.
damn, if this means that we would actually get snow in December rather than some time in March or something bloody stupid, the maybe climate change is Not So Bad.

I literally can not remember the last White Christmas, that song has lost all meaning.

Umm... that makes it sound worse. Unfalsifiability is a hallmark of pseudoscience. It's basically impossible for the climate to remain static. You would have to be a moron to believe that "the climate is going to change in some way. We can't say what, but man is responsible," because there is essentially no way to disprove this, regardless of whether it is true or false.

And I've come to the conclusion that you're highly uneducated on this topic. There's plenty of proof that what is happening to the Earth's climate is not part of the normal pattern and hasn't been seen before. That's an easy theory to disprove.

Someone actually said this to me with a straight face the other day:

"I don't think global warming exists. They say that it will make for colder and more bitter winters. Why would it be called global warming if it made winter get colder?"

I wanted to slap him a little.
So, have you lost your faith in humanity yet?

I'm with you OP, all the way. I've also come to the conclusion on my own that Santa Clause exists and that the Yeti is lurking...somewhere.

Oh, and remember the Wendigo? It is real.

Seems kind of arrogant to believe that we puny insects can cause such massive changes on such a large blue marble.

Believe it. We're no insects, which is way scarier.

Ozone layers? Meh.
Not directed at you Squeak but the Ozone layer is not linked to global warming but the amount of radiation that is blocked by the atmosphere.
Also it would be more helpful to the discussion if the author had put up reasons or arguments.

May I just remind people of Global Cooling, Nukes destroying the earth in (i forgot the date) and the several billion meteors that were supposed to vaporize the earth. People doom makes up 87% of the news.

Is helping the environment a good thing? Hell yeah

should we put a halt to productivity because of it? Hell no.

People if I could just remind you that the earth experienced a mini Ice age (not human related) and is now coming back from it.

Scientists have sent satellites into space to measure how much the ACTUAL temperature changed, not even worth a cough at.

Surface temperature has gone yes because of cars and movement and technology (blah blah blah) but not because it's affecting the earth.

It's called friction and enough of that creates heat.

On a 90 degree day, the city will be a whole lot hotter than an open plain.

Imagine a room.

now imagine your in the room and one by one more people come into the room

The rooms overall temperature will not change but it will sure feel like it.

The earths temperature was a whole lot hotter before the industrial revolution.

The Hocky stick theory is more like the boomerang

and Al gore is an idiot, but we all know that all ready

http://think.mtv.com/044FDFFFF00E176D300170098F5B7/

watch this video for facts against global warming

Finally I'm just saying stop hyping up the news, the news emphasizes bad, that's what it does, it doesn't speak the truth for there is no truth, there's the view of the time.

Listen to your textbooks if you want but just keep in mind this, textbooks once said the world was flat and you could survive a nuclear bomb if you hid under a desk :)

also to whoever said we're insects I couldn't say it better myself. We're nothing compared to the earth. Read the opening to the Jurasic Park book, and that is signally the greatest way to describe how much we affect the earth

"With all of the hysteria, all of the fear, all of the phony science, could it be that man-made global warming is the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people? It sure sounds like it." -James M.Inhofe

I've never believed it... I did like how they changed the name to "climate change" when it started to get cold... This reminds me of the ice age they said would come back in the 70's...

@ hey look
Nukes nearly did destroy the earth, anyone who has heard of the cuban missile crisis knows that. Meteors have hit the earth hundreds of times, they wiped out the dinosaurs and one hit siberia in the early 20th century with the force of the bomb dropped on hiroshima.
Yes the earth did cool in the 1650's because the sun's activity decreased. It's not increasing now.
Also the hiding under your desk thing was a placebo during the cold war.

I don't really care about global warming. I live on a hill by the beach so if the polar ice caps do melt, I get a beach house! I really don't care about global warming, it sounds like a way that Al Gore could get more attention.

Global warming could be happening, but I doubt it is caused by humans. Probably just a natural cycle

The Earth is cooling up, but I doubt it will result in anything more than the return of the Medieval warm period. The worst thing that will happen is that France will lose it's monopoly over wine vineyards again. Then it will cool back down in a hundred or so years, and everyone will be in hysteria over the impending ice age that will wipe out humanity.

Nukes: Yes but it didn't that's a point I'm making we really were in no danger because both sides knew if they pushed the button they were screwed

Meteors: I'm talking recently, I have calculated that there have been hundreds of time meteors were SUPPOSED to hit the earth but they didn't

Sun: and it is increasing

Desk: and that's the point it was known as FACT back then in schools.
