??? The only paint I have that needs thinning is my adeptus battlegrey. Although my old white and black paints were pretty gooey I've switched over to newer pots. Even then, by the time they're on the brush they've been thinned down with water to hwlp them flow.
[EDIT 3 months later: Oh, it's a meme, right, ha ha]
Thanks for posting, nice work. I've bought 3 Reaper miniatures to paint for my sister for xmas because their american comic book style makes them look a bit like the character models from Guild Wars. I have some of the less scantily clad ones and I'm going to have one elf thief in black and purple. What is the woman model from? Looks kinda daemonettey with the claw/scyth arms.
Ive been slacking recently what with going to visit my dad after he was knocked off his bike and other worrying events but I've finally managed to finish something:
Certainly an improvement on my 1st 2 firestorm squadrons, now I have the paintscheme just about fixed.
The Daemon is "The Masque" model from WH Fantasy's Daemons of Chaos army. It's a pretty cool model, wish I had better pics of them than that, but they were all taken by a no-so-good web cam =3.

Part of me feels I should have put more work into him but I also think the simplicity of the model looks right, dark metal armour, chaos symbol, horns and 2 shiny metal swords with leather boots and gloves. He also has an animal pelt but most of it is on the back.
The only thing I'm thinking should have been done different is maybe more contrast between the base and tip of the horns.
There's 3 Reaper miniatures I have that I'm going to paint for my sister as a Xmas present but I need to get some white spray primer 1st. In the meantime I'm going to paint another Space Fleet Ironclad battleship and my last sororitas with a flamer.
I like all the ship types in BFG and since chaos ships are only old imperial ones I thought why not have one for my imperial fleet in its reserves listing?

I dropped this when it was 99% finished and bent the prow up to 45 degrees and chipped loads of the paint, otherwise it went well.

And now for something a little bit different...
A Reaper miniatures elf that I painted as a xmas present for my sister. 2 more remain that i shall paint and post to her.
Also, my sis bought me Ultramarines the movie for xmas so I thought I'd share my thoughts on it (also, SPOILERS):
It was pretty forgetable really, but at least it wasn't awful. The acting, while not exactly oscar worthy was perfectly adequate and there were only a couple of points in the script that made me wince slightly. However, apart from a couple of scenes the film didn't really do anything for me until the marines had actually got off the planet in the last 10-15 minutes of the film.
The battle with the demon was actually quite exciting and the confrontation between the surviving Fists/Ultramarines was ok. I feel that if they'd spent a lot more time on the ship with someone being a traitor and killing off the other survivors and the marines and audience havint to work out who it would have been a lot more interesting.
The "action" on the planet was overlong and boring. They were clearly trying to get around their limited animation budget by setting it on a barren planet with a very dusty/foggy atmosphere but the lack of visibility didn't create any tension, it just made it look like a test animation for the marines themselves set on a flat plane.
When they finally met the enemy they weren't exactly inspiring from the POV of a 1st timer or a 40K fan.
Putting myself in the mindset of someone new to the series the buildup of the enemy felt like it should have been something really wierd and alien or truly horrible, the way they come across their landspeeder hovering in place with no response from the crew was actually quite good, but when it comes its like "oh...so it's their evil twins...they wear black armour and have faces like Freddy Kreuger...consider me underwhelmed".
As a long time follower of 40K the chaos marines, Black Legion no less, weren't a cunning an ancient evil that have been fighting for 10,000 years, they were a bunch of mooks getting mown down by the dozen.
Whether a newbie or a longtime fan they just didn't feel like a threat, just faceless goons to privide the heroes something to mow down. If they had had some cultist to fill that role and had maybe a single squad of Black Legion as enemy characters with a bit more to them (everyone loves a good villain), a real conflict of equals, then the first 3/4 of the film may have felt like something memorable instead of a bunch of guys in blue armour walking through fog and blasting a few chumps in black armour.
The animation wasn't great, especially the backgrounds as mentioned before were either just fog or rendered out of focus as if it were a camera shot and at some points in the film you got the impression you were watching a computer game cutscene from a couple of years ago, not an animated movie. The walking animations were particularly noticeable as being somehow 'off'.
Still, it didn't stink, that's the main thing. It was kinda bland but it wasn't an embarrassment and thats more than I was expecting. Apparently the company put up the cash for the film otself, no funding from GW. With a budget of £9M I can see why the animation wasn't so great but they still could have done a better job of the actual story.
Again, been a long time since I've been able to complete anything (and to be honest, my limited time for doing anything leaves me jumping from project to project), but here's a few pics of what I'm working on currently: creating new minis for my Chaos Marauder warband for Mordheim, Kharvak's Raiders.
Spoiler'd for size and number of images
Kharvak's Raiders (Full Roster, including a couple of extra's I made for different weapon choices)
Chieftain Kharvak
Kharvak and his champions, Hastuhr the Dark Seer, Erzoth the Fangborn and Volgen the Decapitator.
Chaos Spawn Char'Lar'Khe, former warband leader and Condemned champion Istrek.
Kharvak's band of loyal(ish) Marauders.
A close-up of two of Kharvak's Marauders.
3 Gor that answered Hastuhr's call, and the Chaos Hounds that Erzoth the Fangborn "takes care of".
As you can see, they're still WiP constructions, but time allowing I'll have them finished and painted in a week or two.

Thanks for posting. You really like your conversion work. I take it most of the plastic ones come like that but the metal ones require removal of the original heads and arms and then replacement with bits hacked off other models? Also, what the hell is that giant skull thing in the background?

Thanks for posting. I only just noticed the squished genestealer under the ED 209 dreadnoughts foot, that gave me a laugh. Also are those fantasy models by reaper? I bought a couple recently and they are really nicely sculpted and molded with a very different look and feel to citadel but they are a real pain to paint because they are so thin and spindly (well, the female models are at any rate).
Also: Finally finished my last battlesister:

And also finally finished my first squadron of Space Fleet Stalwart frigates. These little bastards are a full 19mm long and a real pig to paint unless you want to be a lazy git and just do them all one colour, which is what I may very well do with the next squadron.

Yeah, I do love my conversions, but no, nothing there is stock, even the chaos hounds have some small conversions, mostly just spawn part replacements and some slight repositioning of legs The plastic Marauders use the torsos from the Marauder horseman box, the legs (chestplates sawn off) from Chaos warriors, and various arms from beastmen/marauders/catachans as needed. The spawn is a chaos troll modified with GS and spawn bits, and my chieftain, Kharvak, is made from Wulfric's body, various bits and pieces and greenstuff.
The skull in the background is from the Temple of Skulls scenery piece. I actually only just finished working on it, here's a couple of pics. They're not the best, but given the floods and other trying circumstances, getting decent lighting is a pain:

That's a lot of work, and I thought my Ork chaos champion took a lot of work, congrats on doing such a nice job. You must have a very full bits box.
Interesting, I've never really bothered looking at their scenery before. Considering the price of the miniatures (and they've just gone up again [good job I've had most of mine for 15-20 years or bought on ebay]) the prices for the buildings etc isn't too bad and they do look nice, but the cost of the little bits (barrels and small plants) is beyond horrific. I wonder if they've ever sold any? The 40k scenery also seems a bit expensive for what is essentially a small corner of a building. I used to make my own scenery from polystyrene, card and model railway scenery when I was a kid, still got most of it at the parents house although my mdf gaming board is gone. I like the portability of the one they've got but £150 for 6 2x2 pices of plastic is a bit steep IMO.
Also, just finished these:
Overdid the gold again, I really have to find a way to strike a balance between the gold and grey.
Impressive eh? Bet you've never seen a paintscheme so dazzling on such finely detailed miniatures. Heh. I'm afraid that as each of these is only 6mm long there's not that much you can do with them.
Thank you, it's always nice to receive a compliment on your hard work. Yeah, my bits box actually comprises a portable set of drawers (5 of 'em, all full of bits, pieces and frames). I don't think I've ever gotten rid of any left-over components from minis, even if I've lost or sold the completed part. There's at least 15 years worth of stuff in there, with some things going back to the very beginning of citadel/gw

To be honest, neither had I. Until they released the warhammer fantasy scenery that is. It's really gorgeous stuff, and looks incredible once it's built and painted. I do agree with ya on the 40k stuff, I prefer my old necromunda cardstock buildings and scratch-built stuff for those games.

I really like what you've done with this ship, it looks great. If you're after a quick way to tone the gold down a little though, what I do for my Chaos Warriors (and Chaos Marines) is to basecoat the area I want gold with a dark brown, and then build up from a 3:1 brown - gold mix through to a 1:1 brown - gold mix, then do final highlights with pure gold followed by a 1:1 gold/silver mix for the extreme edge highlights.
