Quote a post with a picture embedded and then copy that. Obviously you'll need to upload the pic to an image hosting site first. In fact imageshack does virtually all of it for you exc ept put in in spoiler tags, although you have to remove the th. from the pictures address to stop it showing a thumbnail.

Some of you guys have done some really cool stuff

You'll find a chunk of my stuff here, but some of it is still lying around in the general gallery and hasn't been put in the right folder yet.

Thanks for posting. I have a devart account under the same name. I think it'd help if you took pics a bit more close up as it's difficult to see a lot of the stuff you have in there. Looking through your main gallery I like the beholder trophies you made, very nice sculpting and painting job.

Also mid 80's GW Skellington I just finished:

'sup/t... er hi Labyrinth.

Now you see, that's what being an artist gets you.
Very nice, well done, did you get a golden squig to take home?

I do actually have tiny bit of freehand work I could post in your artists thread, I painted a praetorian unit badge on the beret stormtrooper I posted earlier. Unfortunately I burn through detail brushes at a rate of knots and I'm a bit of a cheapskate when it comes to buying new decent painting equipment so it was painted with a "brush" with bristles in single figures which helped in ways but hindered in others.
I've said it before, I never buy my brushes from GW. They're too expensive, and they're poor quality. Go to an art and craft store and look at their small synthetic brushes. For me, they're about $3-$4 a pop, and they come in smaller sizes than GW's, and in slightly flattened round brushes which are so perfect for drybrushing they're practically erotic.

I don't get mine from GW either, they're not small enough for a start. There's a cash and carry up the road from me that does brushes for £1.50 each, 5/0, 4/0 etc and these nice flat brushes that are great for doing small and large areas. I still destroy them at a blinding pace though, I would post a picture of all my mangled brushes but there's so many of them I couldn't get them all in and be close up enough to see.
They do make decent drybrushing brushes when they get knackered but that means I now have 15 drybrushes, 4 "bristle on the end of a stick" brushes, a single 4/0 and 6 large brushes.

Easy enough mate, just put a ["img"] and ["/img"] (without the " ") before and after a direct link to the picture you want to show (the link should end in .jpg or .gif or whatever).

Oh, if you're adding a few pics, you might want to enclose them in ["spoiler"] and ["/spoiler"] tags (again without the " ") so they don't auto-load when people visit this thread. Actually, that's good advice to anyone posting pics, really.

OT:

The floods have had a slight side bonus of giving me some time to paint while my work is being rebuilt, so here's a few WiP shots or things I'm painting up atm (please note these are only in base colours with minimal basic highlighting in some places, I've still got a long way to go on them, especially my nurgle lord, so don't be too harsh in the criticisms lol).

Forgeworld Deathguard Termies

Nurgle Chaos Lord Conversion and GD Chaos Sorcerer

Coming Soon... Chaosified Witchfate Tor, Completed Termies and FW Deathguard Chaos Marines.

Thanks for posting everyone, it's a minor miracle, usually I make up at least half the posts on a page.

Also, stay safe in Aus Jaythulhu, hope the cyclone thing doesn't come your way. Are those nurgle terminators converted with grey knight heads or do they come like that?

I laughed at the smurf. He does have a moody look to him.

Finally I now have at least one of every Imperial vessel from Space Fleet painted with this, the Constellation targeting ship:

I was super lazy with this one and just used white primer as a primer/undercoat/basecoat and then used very watery asurmen blue to shade rather than thinned down space wolf grey and it worked OK IMO but next time I think I'll add a little badab black to the wash and paint over the areas I didn't want shaded a little more thoroughly but as it is I think the blue shading worked well and I very much like the effect it has produced, thanks for the tips guys. The blood red doesn't work as well alongside the white as it does the grey so I'll switch back to Ruby red next white ship I do.

1st off I am supposed to advertise the "Warhammer Fantasy & 40K Followers" group. It's a group. For Warhammer Fantasy and 40K followers. Here's the home page:

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/Warhammer-Fantasy-40K-Followers

Secondly I have miniatures to post

"Only" 6 more to go and I have a full squad. Too much highlighting on the trousers on this one. PS, that's a grenade launcher for anyone who's wondering.

That's how the FW nurgle termie upgrade set comes. Torso and shoulder pad replacements for the plastic chaos termie set. They're much better looking irl than they are in photos.

I appreciate your concern over the cyclone mate, but nah, it didn't hit me, I live in brisbane, not the north part of the state. I am up in Innisfail in NQ at the moment tho, helping my relatives clean up. It's a hell of a sight, completely surreal. I'd never expected to see this kind of thing first hand in my lifetime. I wish I'd remembered my camera so I could post some pics, but at the same time that does seems a bit ghoulish of me.

Ah right, so you used grey knights as a base and then added nurgle bits to them.

Is it actually called Innisfail or is that a joke? Hope all your folks are ok. You could at least take some pics for yourself, it's something you'll probably (and hopefully) never see again.

Also will hopefully have a Dauntless and a shodowhunter up later. I'll probably just edit them into this to avoid a dounle post.

Yeah, I know, it looks exactly like the other one. Unfortunately I'm not very good at coming up with decent looking colourschemes. I can paint quite well when I have something to show me which colours will look best but otherwise I just stick to one or 2 simple colourschemes that I know work ok, so there's not much variation.

Nonono, I mean they're the <a href=http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/Chaos/VEHICLES_INFANTRY_AND_ACCESSORIES/DEATH-GUARD-TERMINATOR-CONVERSION-SET.html>Forgeworld Resin Death Guard Upgrade set for the Plastic Chaos Terminators. Nothing Grey Knight about them, the Death Guard have had those style helmets in artwork since Rogue Trader was first released.

Yeah, the place is actually called <a href=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Innisfail,_Queensland>Innisfail. It's a beautiful place, even after Yasi. Beautiful enough to make even a cranky bastard like myself smile. Seriously, do a search on google images. Actually, just to whet your appetite, a pic of my favourite swimming hole up there.

The relos are fine, didn't even suffer too much property damage this time (lessons learnt from cyclone larry in '06), but there's still a metric fuckton of cleaning to do. Painting's on hold for a while, but I don't think I can really complain about that too loudly.

I'm afraid I'm going to have to disagree with you on that one. The Death Guard and chaos didn't exist when RT first came out and there's no termintors with helmets like that in either LatD or StD or on any of the miniatures. They have horns on, like a plaguebearer, but the helmets don't look like that. Maybe there's a picture of a termie with a helmet like that somewhere, but I'm absolutely 100% certain that's not how they've been depicted 'as standard'until at least second ed. All the traitor termies in RT looked like regular termies with a few chaos symbols painted on them, except that 1 guy with the funky bone armour.

You sure? I'm certain that it's a corrupted version of the Mk 3 Termie armour from the later RT stuff, just before GW dropped the Rogue Trader part from the game's official name (and I swear Plague Marines are in the original Chaos list), but eh, the only RT minis I still have is a few power armoured renegades. When I get home I'll go through some of my old books, and try to dig up the DG pics I'm thinking of.

In the meantime, I defer to the knowledge of the master of RT era minis :)

There were Deathguard in the original chaos lists in LatD, I meant that deathguard & chaos were not included in the Rogue Trader rulebook (i.e. there is no way they've looked like that "since rogue trader was first released"), I believe there may have been references in white dwarf etc but until Slaves To Darkness and The Lost And The Damned were released chaos etc wasn't part of 40K. They certainly had specific Deathguard marines just before 2nd ed came out but not terminators.
Other than the 1st 2 experimantal terminator armour types there was only one type of termie armour in RT (although I suppose you could argue the original grey knight armour was different). The reason I'm so adamant about it is I'd never seen the "medieval style" Grey Knight terminator helmet until I got back into this stuff last year, it's completely new to me. I'm not saying there's no chance there wasn't a drawing of a Deathguard Terminator with a similar looking helmet, I can't claim to have seen and remembered every bit of GW artwork from 87-94 but I'm certain that wasn't their standard look

Yeah, you posted a few pics of them, those old school renegades are awesome, they look so wierd and freaky, I suppose that's why they changed the design, they didn't really look that intimidating, more like a mutated mix of power armour and geiger style alien. One day I'll make sure I get my hands on a few but the ones I want cost bucks to buy now and I've spent loads in the past month.

EDIT:
Biel Tan shadowhunter. Haven't put any markings on because I'm crap at freehand.

Thanks for posting. Hopefully enough people will start posting reularly enough to keep the thread going without my help. I like the symbols on the back of the champoins cloak and on the standard.

Now here's an update of sorts. I finally picked up a warhound titan so I can post a pick of all the true Imperial titans, with some vehicles in the foreground. I'll finish painting a baneblade soon, then I'll do a knight so that can be included in the photo as well.

EDIT: oops, forgot a very important point, the Warhound was not painted by me. It has a nice paint job and the same colourscheme as the reaver so I lect it as it was.

More or less finished the DG Termies, just some minor details to take care of, and am now about 3/4 of the way through an old school plague marine squad. I'm about 2/3 of the way through Typhus also, but I'm kinda stuck as to where I want to go with his paint job.

Death Guard Terminator Squad (the ooze puddle at the feet of the Champion glows in the dark!)

Old School Plague Marines

Typhus, Herald of Nurgle

Any suggestions or advice for finishing Typhus off would be appreciated.
