While that might be true, I've noticed that a lot of users here have an overwhelming sense of elitism compared to 90% of the other websites.

I think you're only set to listen to 50-60 percent of the community.

I'm only really here for debates, its the only forum where clean and productive discussions can be had. (I also enjoy Doraleous and Associates and on occasion Yahtzee's rambles)

I know this site has it's flaws, but of all the forums I've been a member of, this is one of the better, if not, the best of them all. Yea, we could change some things, but why fix something that isn't broken?

Why would you look for intelligent discussions on the internet?

That seems more a one liner than a sincere question, but mostly because you don't need to care about your relationship with people over the internet, its also easier to state what's on your mind or what you wish to say normally due to anonymity and if you're looking to discuss something meaningful its often the best method of getting a wider range of opinions. In this case since many a member on the escapist are relatively intelligent you're also likely to get a better answer than capitals and exclamation marks too, which frustrate me oh-so much.

You know, console gamers aren't that good either, and if there wouldn't be PC gamers on the Escapist, then you would probably say you hate all the PS3/Xbox users. Also, I believe I've seen more console gamers hating PC gamers than the other way around.

Incidentally, how does that make you any better than the elitist PC gamers? They may well declare their hatred for console gamers for no good reason, but you're doing the same thing to them and criticising them for doing it. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

For the record, I can see your point, assuming you dislike the small minority of insane, console-trashing, foaming-at-the-mouth elitists that the PC community has. I, a dedicated PC gamer, get annoyed with them. While I do prefer PC to console, I do so because I like a mouse-and-keyboard interface more than a gamepad, not because of some bizarre notion that console games are inherently inferior. Hell, I'm playing through the PC version of Jade Empire right now.

Ive had a few run ins with people on this site, but I guess youve got to try and not lose it too much, the majority of disputes are usually over very trivial things, no point in starting a forum war over something that can be silly. Also, a forum is a place of free expression and opinion I guess, there are obviously going be different views on topics.

The forum I was active on before I came here (oblivionsource.com) was much smaller and a much better community. I'm very sad that it imploded, but there's good people here too.

I spent some time at a place called I-am-bored.com, it was pretty cool and had a nice community, but there were no open forums and recently it has been prey to many noobs and 4chan raids.

I love this place. Hardly anyone talks like an idiot (using the letter 'u' as the word 'you', '2' as 'too, to', etc.), and most people can carry on an intelligent conversation without too much strain. That's pretty rare on the interbutts.

Cracked forums seem pretty okay, too. And SomethingAwful, but you need to pay for membership.

PWOT is beautiful, if only because the mods have actual power.

The only problem with the Escapist is that so many people are so damn elitist about everything. I swear, if I bring up how I haven't played their favorite ages old game, I'm less of a human to them.

Going to GameFaqs about sums it up. Other forums weren't too bad, but this is the only forum where I feel like I belong. Also, I would rather go to the Jurassic Park Islands then browse GameFaqs. xD

Yeah, we're pretty cool here, similar to the guys at GitP (Order of the Stick forums), and to a certain extent, the guys at TheSpoonyExpirement, they can be good guys when they want to be.

I've never been exposed to a bad forum before though. I've been on YoTtube and met a few idiots, but generally, YouTube was quite good to me.
