I give all credit to our overlords (read: mods) who do not tolerate the filth and drudgery that infest so many other forums.

Also: Everyone here is damn sexy. So that helps too.
Damn straight we are!

Eh, this is still kinda my first forum, but I like it here, and I'm not planning on leaving here any time soon. Unless someone makes me. [sub]Please don't make me leave...[/sub]

One of the better forums I've had the pleasure of interacting with. This place rocks.

As long as I avoid the urge to start having controversial "discussions" after returning home from the bar. Always a bad idea... because being drunk and being eloquent or comprehensible rarely go hand-in-hand!

Truthiness is awesome. I just saw that and had to make this post.
OT: I do so love the Escapist. It is probably one of the better boards on the internet, even if it does have flaws.

I love the escapist! Though I've never been to any other interwebs forums so can't cofirm or deny that the escapist is that good but I still like it and reading some of the crap of youtube and some othe forums that I've browsed I can't say i've been to encourage to go anywhere else.

EDIT: Also I don't see any of this elitism that alot of new users talk about. Were a tight knit community that has some standards and proud of it and why shouldn't we be?

While that might be true, I've noticed that a lot of users here have an overwhelming sense of elitism compared to 90% of the other websites.
Especially in the Religion/Politics forums

*shudders*
Yeah I'm scared of that place...

But in all seriousness this is the first forum I've ever joined so I dont have much to compare it to, but it's been my regular spot since I joined. If someone tries to demean me I usually just ignore them, but if someones just joking with me I can laugh about it. It just depends how seriously you take everything.
Yeah thats basically my story as well :p

Going to GameFaqs about sums it up. Other forums weren't too bad, but this is the only forum where I feel like I belong. Also, I would rather go to the Jurassic Park Islands then browse GameFaqs. xD

I love you guys! ¢¾
And we love you too! ^_^

Except me, for I am a robot with no feeling Beep-Boop -_-
Wait, I got it! *plays with your on switch* ;)

Do you love me now?
Well, you made me bust a lug-NUT.... So yes... that was such a bad pun

Almost no place exists where everyone gets along without the occasional row, but these forums make a pretty good stab at it.

... and since a forum is nothing without the community that uses and referees it - Cheers :)

Let me ruin the vibe of this thread.

This place is just as awful as any other videogame forum on the internet. Yeah, sure, you don't have opinionated 12 year olds like gameFAQS, and you guys do actually post about videogames unlike 4chan's /v/ board. But you still suffer the same list of problems that any other forum has: Moderator brown-nosing, e-penis numbers, circle-jerking, pointless drama and, of course, snobbery. The key issue with this forum, and every other forum on the internet is, your posts are ever about your opinion - it's about that fact that it's YOUR opinion.

And that doesn't help when your opinions are the epitome of hipster. Nobody heard of that obscure JRPG in your PS2 games collection? Goddamn genius. Mass Effect? Must be garbage!

And allow me to act like some sort of mother fucking mind reader and take a guess that, at one point, you guys planned to develop a game together, but it fell through. Am I getting warm? Because every geeky forum on the internet has tried it. Trust me on this.

I'm not saying you guys are bad or any worse than say, gameFAQs, or /v/, or NeoGAF, or wherever. What I am saying is, you suffer from serious delusions of grandeur and you don't seem to realise that your shit stinks just as much as other people's. And that's fine. Just don't pretend you are special. You spend your time discussing videogames for fuck's sake. Nothing wrong with that, but hey, it's better to realise how unimportant that topic really should be to you.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, throwing in words with more than 2 syllables, and decent grammar, into your posts doesn't make you better than whatever asshole is on the other side of the net. You're just as much of a schmuck as the people you look down on.

Anyway, I'll let the first person who's feelings I hurt to pull apart my post by quoting it paragraph by paragraph and writing a bunch of strawman rhetoric in response, because that's how critical thinking works, amirite?

i REALLY hate PC gamers.
It would be even better if it wasn't for the people who make generalisations.

Though you have to admit that there are a lot of PC elitist on this forum, most of them aren't douches about it though... until someone brings up the Mac as a subject.

You created another account just for this? I'm guessing you're just a member who wants to voice his opinion without fear of being completely and utterly torn to peices.

I quite like this forum, it's pretty friendly for the most part and there are some good discussions that go around. Don't get me wrong, there are still utter twats and often bizzare trends in thread ideas (like how sometimes you'll get a couple of days where every other thread has "rape" in the title) but on the whole, the problems are relatively minor and don't detract from all the lovely people who are here.

My favourite forums are actually generally the small ones but they tend to implode unfortunately eg, I used to frequent the ConfusedMatthew forum which is now all but dead. Oh well.

On another note, I'm not sure many of the new users really understand what elitism is...

Not meaning to sound stupid, but what does "glomp" mean? I don't think I'm familiar with this word. Just curious is all.

Yeah I agree. The overall community here and in the IRC chan are fun to talk to and be around.

The only problem with the Escapist is that so many people are so damn elitist about everything. I swear, if I bring up how I haven't played their favorite ages old game, I'm less of a human to them.
hehe, watch this:

I thought Ocerana of time is so-so.

I really didn't enjoy it that much. It was alright, but not as good as everyone says. The story was "eh', gameplay wasn't too great, some levels are outright bullshit (FUCKING WATER TEMPLE!). And yeah, just didn't enjoy it all that much.

I also haven't fully played through Fallout 1 or 2.
You are a brave man, that's all I can say to that.
