Yes, I love being an easily expendable soldier that my own squad leader might kill just to "inspire" my teammates. Basic human rights and treatment is for suckers.
You don't enjoy the heroics of the normal human soldier, the unenhanced fighting man or woman in a galaxy of unimaginable horrors and unspeakably powerful foes, relying on nothing more then a flak jacket, a lasgun and faith to prevail?

Bloody quote system is refusing to work properly.....
I don't enjoy the heroics of a squad of men sent to die, and killed if they refuse. It's why the space marines are so kickass. They're not just thrown at huge numbers at the enemy to get slaughtered, they're used intelligently and their commanders do what they can to help them survive for the next battle.
It all depends on the Commanding officer. Some hurl wave after wave of cannon fodder at the enemy while others, such as Colonel Commissar Guant use their troops properly and with far greater success. Saying all Imperial Guardsmen are nothing more then meat shields for the man behind is like saying all Space Marines are eternally loyal. Besides no man who died in His service died in vain :p

Also in regard to human rights and decent treatment this is the Imperium we're talking about: a hellish theocratic/Fascist uncaring nation based on the most rascist and brutal religious rule ever which needs this system of rule to survive when surrounded by monsters, daemons and aliens and wracked from within by traitors, rebels and malcontents. Giving everything a hug and a warm cup of tea and telling them its ok if they don't feel like giving their lives for the continued existence of the human race just isn't going to work!
Which is why in 40k I've given up on humanity. It's all about Tau. (Who act far more humanely than humans, and for whom communism actually seems to work, something that can never work with humans). Especially since the Tau don't have a traitor problem, being totally with the Greater Good ideal and having no connection to the warp.

If this is anything, and I do say ANYTHING like any of the following:

World of Warcraft
Warhammer Online
Conan online
EvE online
Ultima Online
Anarchy Online
Star Trek online

then it will be shit.
This kind of level-up based press-1-to-slash-2-to-bludgeon-3-to-heal-hotbar health points mana points arbitrary stats equipment-means-everything point-and-click fuckshit has been done to death and the market is literally being SATURATED with it.

Hell, you can barely do a web-search without being assaulted by chinese/korean wow-clones.

IF wh40k online is to be AT ALL any more interesting than watching paint dry then it either needs to be some kind of 1st person Shooter/Mount&Blade/3d person adventure hybrid, or a multiplayer driven strategic carbon copy of the table top wargame.
So what you are saying is that if it has combat, a third-person camera, skills, crafting, gathering, levels, cities, space stations and essentially anything that will make it a playable game regardless of genre, it will be shit?

Holy shit yes, when will it be coming out? I would be more pumped for a game like this then Star Wars The Old Republic. If they decided to do the cover system like Gears of War or Mass Effect 2 I would be very happy.

Except that the Tau, being the lovey-dovey hippies of the 40K universe, prefer to assimilate other races into their empire rather than kill them all.
Of course, there's the whole "mind controlled by the Ethereals" business as well.

The Tau winning 40k would be hilarious. For Chaos. Without the protection of the Empra, humanity would be easy pickings for the ruinous powers, and all of the Tau's brand new shiny human vassals would all of a sudden be growing spikes, tentacles, and extra appendages with which to do unspeakably personal things to their supposed masters.

This sounds damn awesome, but i know in the very least they will fuck up something but heres hoping they at lest try to stay true to 40k, and i would definitely play imperuim since i am a DH fanatic.

being let loose in the 40K universe really is a dream come true. I personally don't think the wow lvling/grind structure would work however. Hopefully it will just be open up area en masse PvP battles would be quite fun.
Also am pretty sure they can just get over the whole balance issue by not actually letting you play as a space marine, you will prob just play as an imperial, not necessarily an IG, just a human or just an eldar... some kind of sub fraction within each race. It would suck but that would be how you would get rid of the balance issue...

How in the hell do you play as Orks in an MMO? They are, in essence, football hooligans. They're barely organised, how do you give out missions for that?
I suppose they'd have to be "faith" based? lol

I'm curious to check this out when it does come out though, most of my friends play this game and i find it interesting but I'd probably like it better in an MMO setting personally.

this is going to be really awesome when the smallest percentile of warriors in the 40k universe becomes the most played faction, makes total sense

TRAITOR! XENOS SCUM!

I suppose they are humane in that they give their enemies the choice of surrender to us and become part of our Empire or we will completely annihalite you whereas the other races go straight to the extermination option. Also yes they are Communists what with the elite group of Etherals who have much better lives and rule everyone else. No traitors you say? What about the Farsight conclave?

God, yes. This looks like the coolest thing ever. Sucks I'll be in the army when it comes out. And no, real combat is not nearly as fun as playing as Space Marines, especially not when you're fighting terrorists who hide behind civilians and have to double check every target.
