Herman Hedning is Swedish? I remember having a magazine at age 8 or something. I don't think my parents were aware of the content.

Sweden doesn't make good comics. The only one worth mentioning is "hälge". I'd rather read american comics like Dilbert or Ernie.
Btw, our neighbors Norway does make great comics!
Objetion your honour!

I present exhibit A:

Arne Anka [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arne_Anka].

and exhibit B:

Rocky [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rocky_%28comic_strip%29].
I have apoligised for forgetting Rocky, but Arne is'nt really that good.

It's open to interpretation. If the author was born in a country, but has lived most his life in another it could easily count as being from the other country. If the author and artist are from two different countries credit goes to both countries.
All that matters is really where you feel it originates.

Oi! You're Scottish according to your profile! (Which still leaves you people like Grant Morrison and Mark Millar amongst others)

I was about to reply with "HA HA HA HA HA! Good Comics from CANADA, that's a good one!" But I forgot about Scott Pilgrim...

But lest we forget the other Canadian Greats from the Webcomic world like Least I Could Do/Looking For Group, Dinosaur Comics, Hark! A Vagrant, Bob The Angry Flower, White Ninja (an acquired taste to be sure) and Sam and Fuzzy.

Granted though we have very few comics with mainstream appeal.

I'll let the Americans take Watchmen, but I'll die supporting your claim for V for Vendetta!

Why, the Writer, Artist and Colourist are all English. Makes it a pretty English comic in my eyes.

Uk - Judge Dredd. I'm not normally a fan of violent comics but I really enjoyed the Judge.

I'm confused. Are you aware of Wulffmorgenthaler, or do you just not like it? Because in my mind that is almost as brilliant as it gets. http://wulffmorgenthaler.com/

Just said that cos it's just a much more American story and uses characters owned by DC. Sure, the U.K was at huge risk during the Cold War too, but the perspective of Watchmen is very American.

(Also, I'd forgotten the artist and colourist were English)
