Well, there's always the best game ever, a.k.a Kingdom Hearts.
... Seriously, if anyone tries to tell me that the sequels were good, then I'm going to find out where they live and shove a flail down their throat...

Best Game Ever ... I am unsure about that ... but nitpicking aside, I agree that it didn't need ... ANY of the sequels that followed it up. Maybe just some closure at the end
OT: Force Unleashed. The main reason is because the story line is supposed to be cannon. Based on the end of the first game and, the storyline as a whole, a second Force Unleashed would be highly improbable ... unless of course this new one isn't cannon ... OR if it's based in a completely different setting! Those ancient Sith Lords could unleash some Force ...

You didn't like KHII? Certainly I think the console tie-ins only convoluted the plot and were generally rubbish, but the proper sequel made the game more exciting and (I think) challenging, and featured a lot more variety in terms of worlds. Although plot-wise, the original was a lot better.
OT:It's a shame Lego Racers got a sequel, because the sequel was a major disappointment compared to the first.
Bioshock doesn't need a sequel. Luckily enough, this is not a sequel to Bioshock, its a sequel to Rapture.
SW: Force Unleash 2 makes very little sense as a sequel. Its basically a big "what if". Even when they kind of did a decent job at puting a new story in between movies with familiar characters and still feel connected to the cannon, this time they are just throwing the cannon out of the window (even with the first game):
The expansion was a what if of the evil ending, and in the good ending you die in the end, yet the sequel seems to continue after that.
I can't imagine how they are going to make this new game feel comprehensive with an ending like that.
I think God of War didn't need a sequel. Don't get me wrong, I loved the 2nd one, and the next one looks like its going to be all kinds of epic, but I really liked the way the story was closed at the end of the first game.
A game that did need a sequel... The new Prince of Persia. I know the new game wasn't perfect, but they should stick to it, tell the story they wanted to tell and have more confidence in their ideas, instead of making yet another sequel (or a reboot, not sure yet) to a storyline that should be closed by now.

Its a universe with the Force - anything could have happened, and it will when a sequel is to be made. Although I'm in agreement that I was surprised they did use him again - not by the fact that they made a sequel though.
I'd of thought that they'd have chosen a different character within that universe, or moved to after the films or something (but keeping the same tech, engine, etc.).
Have to respectively disagree with you there. Chrono Cross was a pretty good game, I won't argue with that, but for me, I was incredibly disappointed in the direction they went with the storyline and frankly felt that, as a sequel it was rather a let down. I feel it would've been better if they took out all references to the original game (few though they were) and released it as a stand alone game.

Fair enough. As I said, Chrono Cross isn't a bad game by any means. The main thing I didn't like is how they essentially killed off all the original main characters, all the ones from the Present & Future anyway.

I wish they would've buttoned up Halo in one game so they didn't have to make terrible sequels... I don't know why, but I love Halo 1 and can't stand the games that followed.
i'm sort of against the title of this thread, in the respect that i don't believe any game sequel wasn't deserved. unlike films, gaming sequels are intended to be better games, with more money pumped into better gameplay, storyline etc. films mostly aim to make an easy profit by using the already existing fanbase, and it's when companies start doing this, that the sequels need to end.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say Modern Warfare, in plot at least.
There was never any doubt of a sequel, but they didn't need to 'continue' the plot of the old one, which rounded off quite nicely thank you very much. It's the first direct sequel in CoD and probably the one with the daftest story, wihch is a shame considering how good it is in the previous.
Also Far Cry 2.
'lets make a sequel to Far Cry, but without ANYTHING from the previous game mentioned, in fact, lets make this open world game in Africa full of glitches and call it Far Cry 2 because no one on earth will look at it twice anyway,'
beat me to CoD,
but you could say that far cry 2 was a Far cry from the first one!
that would make it an appropriate title for the game, and if a 3rd one where is eastern Europe, than it too would be a far cry from the previous ones..
