Layne Staley (the lead singer) was succumbing to heroin addiction in this song. It was taking over and eventually claimed his life. It makes me sad.

It's my favourite band, but it's mostly very melancholic. When I'm feeling down, I really don't want to listen to them, because it just makes me feel worse.

I felt like shit for a week the first time I saw the One video by Metallica, but that was 2 years ago, so I was more juvenile. But, any one of the really long Slipknot songs (Scissors/Iowa) usually get me down.

Haven't had any songs that make me feel like shit but there's one that's guaranteed to make me sad, and that's Hurt by Nine Inch Nails.

But Johnny Cash's version has so much more emotion.

Fade to Black - Metallica. Amazing song, but really depressing if you listen to the lyrics.

It truly is a depressing song.

One - Metallica. For a soldier, this has to be the scariest thing.

Hearing that song after reading the book brings a tear to my eye.
