I 'unno about feeling like shit, but a song you don't want to listen to if you want to cheer yourself up is Dust in the Wind by Kansas.

I can't think of anything.
I mean, I like a lot of "depressing" songs, but none of them actually make me feel anything.
I'm just special like that.

All the Mayhem songs that Dead wrote.

Example - Life Eternal on the De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas album:
A dream of another existance
You wish to die
A dream of another world
You pray for death

To release the soul one must die
To find peace inside you must get eternal

I am a mortal, but am I human?
How beautiful life is now when my time has come
A human destiny, but nothing human inside
What will be left of me when I'm dead?
There was nothing when I lived

What you found was eternal death
No one will ever miss you

Also Control Denied's "When the Link Becomes Missing."

For me it has to be Boot Stamping on a Human Face Forever by Bad Religion. It really doesn't make you optimistic. Still a great song, though.
Reminds me of the start of a Anaal Nathrakh song: ("Do not Speak" i think)
"If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot standing on the human face, forever."

missing by evanescence
when a deadman walks by lacuna coil
moonlight sonata by beethoven

all the above are ones you can easily off yourself to ... but there's only 1 song i keep myself away from .. i listen to it once every few months because it has that much of an effect on me ... and i NEVER EVER listen to it drunk ... something very bad happened the last time i did ... the reason it gets me so much is because i first heard it during a very messed up period of my life .. it kinda turns me crazy ..
the song is Heavens a lie by lacuna coil
how can moonlight sonata by Bethoven make you sad? its quite cheery in comparison to mozart's one. to answr the question for myself....any song really. its dependant on my mood

I hope that both of you know the origin of that quote, because you know that's important.....somehow.

For the OP, I rarely listen to music that makes me feel "like shit", because what's the fun in that. There are a lot of songs that make me feel somewhat depressed, such as "Day of the Lords" by Joy Division, "No Surprises" by Radiohead, or "Rain When I Die" by Alice in Chains. At the same time, all of those songs are so superbly written that it still gives me a sense of joy to be listening to that music.

Tears In Heaven-Eric Clapton, Good song really but it's just so sad, you can tell the man was mourning.
His son died I think, and yeah it's a beautiful piece of music. :)

Fly Like An Eagle and practically any song like it that commands humanitarianism.

No, not because I'm anti-humanitarian, but because so many of them remind me of notalwaysright.com in their ignorance, belligerence, and the fact they get paid better than football players to do it, in their messages.

Even though the whole point of the song is 'don't worry my friend, it'll be alright' 'The End' by Dream Evil always makes me feel a bit down (I still think it's a great song).
