Oh I'm feeling ya on those...

For me it also includes Subterranean Homesick Alien... Makes me feel so isolated and alone, yet I almost vicariously enjoy that sensation.

Alice in Chains Rooster and Nirvana's Something in the way are great songs to deflate your mood with...

Don't know if it's been mentioned, but Gloomy Sunday.

From Wikipedia - "Gloomy Sunday" is a song composed by Hungarian pianist and composer Rezső Seress in 1933 to a Hungarian poem written by László Jávor (original Hungarian title of both song and poem "Szomorú vasárnap" (Hungarian pronunciation: [ˈsomoruː ˈvɒʃaːrnɒp]), in which the singer mourns the untimely death of a lover and contemplates suicide.

Though recorded and performed by many singers, "Gloomy Sunday" is closely associated with Billie Holiday, who scored a hit version of the song in 1941. Due to unsubstantiated urban legends about its inspiring hundreds of suicides, "Gloomy Sunday" was dubbed the "Hungarian suicide song" in the United States. Seress did commit suicide in 1968, but most other rumors of the song being banned from radio, or sparking suicides, are unsubstantiated, and were partly propagated as a deliberate marketing campaign.[1] Possibly due to the context of the Second World War, Billie Holiday's version was, however, banned by the BBC.[2]

*sniff*

You shall be missed Chris Brinkman.....You shall be missed.....

But seriously, I go to tears when I hear this song.

Eric Avery dedicated this song to former Jane's Addiction guitarist/ Good fried Chris, the video is composed completely of footage of Chris before he died, If I was Eric Avery I would cry so badly singing this...

"Fifteen" by Taylor Swift
It just reminds me that I'm a Senior and my whole life is going to be changing soon...and it freaks me out and depresses me.

I know I've got other ones but I can't think of them right now. xD

when a deadman walks by lacuna coil

all the above are ones you can easily off yourself to ... but there's only 1 song i keep myself away from .. i listen to it once every few months because it has that much of an effect on me ... and i NEVER EVER listen to it drunk ... something very bad happened the last time i did ... the reason it gets me so much is because i first heard it during a very messed up period of my life .. it kinda turns me crazy ..
the song is Heavens a lie by lacuna coil
Wow man, goes to show how songs can mean different things to different people. They are both haunting indeed but neither have ever caused me to feel down or anything else negative.

For me it would have to be Memories - Within Temptation. That one used to mean alot to me, now it's difficult to listen to.
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Simple Man. Possibly my favourite song of all time, and I listen to it alot, but it is instantly sobering and makes me incredibly penisve, which is rarely a good thing.
Slipknot - Snuff. Everyone has "that" song, when they hear it for the first time and it mirrors everything the listener is feeling at that moment and it knocks you back. Even now that the feelings associated with it have long past, it can still get to me.

The Worst Day Since Yesterday.
Among my list is that one. There's also:

"Grace Of God Go I" - Flogging Molly
"Feathery Wings", "See You In Hell", and "I'm Sorry" - Voltaire
"A Smile That Explodes" - Joseph Arthur
"The Perfect Fit" - Dresden Dolls
"Maimed Happiness" and "Plenty of Music" - New York Dolls
and, as nerdy as it gets, Aerith's Theme from Final Fantasy VII

Inspired bt that movie thread, I bring you this.

Ever listen to a song that made you feel like shit.

Me: Ain't no reason By Brett Dennen. Makes me very angry at our crappy world

How bout you?
Yeah, this doesn't really happen to me. I tend to like a specific thing within a song, so even if the lyrics could make a hit-man cry, I'd probably still be smiling because of the cool tunes

Flogging Molly "If I ever leave this world alive" and "With a wonder and a wild desire" due to them reminding me of a certain person that I can't decide to be pissed at or to forgive

Haven't had any songs that make me feel like shit but there's one that's guaranteed to make me sad, and that's Hurt by Nine Inch Nails.
Amen to that.

Gary Jules - 'Mad World'. I find that song incredibly depressing.

Darkness By Disturbed
And that. Pretty much everything I could say is already here.

Except for four more songs.

Snuff by Slipknot.
Through Glass, Zzyzx Rd. and Bother by Stone Sour.

EDIT: Another one I thought of: Black Gives Way To Blue by Alice in Chains from their latest album with vocalist William DuVall. A ballad to former vocalist -now deceased- Layne Staley, with Elton John doing the piano work. Moving stuff.

Lips of an Angel - Hinder

It would literally make me slump into a depressive state whenever my boyfriend wanted to listen to it. Then he would turn it off cause he couldn't handle my negativity :) It's a 'stab yourself with a blunt object' worthy song in my opinion.
I agree completely. I can't listen to it either.

Also, for some reason I find the Johnny Cash version of hurt more depressing but I'm not sure why. Both versions are excellent.

"Lose You" by Pete Yorn makes me very sad because it makes me think of a few good friends and beloved family members I've lost to accidents and illnesses.

Necro'd AGAIN?!

Well, I'm going with Pearl Jam's "Jeremy"

It just struck me once I figured out what it was about when I saw the video and put the pieces together.
