She needs to get over it. I saw the movie (Serenity, I think it was) thought it was good, didn't find it racist or misogynist. And even if it somehow is, it's probably unintentional.
I would say it's more like; "A 'true' feminist has to be like a male chauvinist. You can't be a 'true' feminist unless you believe that all men are awful and have no redeeming qualities."L-J-F said:I can't agree more actually, it really annoys me about some feminists that seem to think that the only way to be a "true" feminist is to be like a man, isn't that sort of ... misogynistic? To me that reads "to be strong you have to stop being a woman and try to be a man". Seems to be the opposite to what feminism actually is.VivaciousDeimos said:Yeah, I saw that too, which is just its own brand of frustrating and at the same time makes you want to sigh, because there's no rational argument you can make because it isn't being received by a rational mind, and anything you say will be interpreted as in support of rape or the pro-male agenda. ~Sigh~Necator15 said:I have a feeling more were calling her out on it, but she deleted the posts, simply because trying to refute people from an obviously incorrect and misandrous position is hardVivaciousDeimos said:And that's the scary part; most of the comments are about how wonderful her article is and how they agree with everything she's saying, only a brave few have pointed out the errors or clear bias. Argh...it makes me want to pull my hair out. Women like this make the rest of us look bad.
Still, if I'm wrong then it's even scarier.
YES! I, too, love being a woman; dressing up, buying shoes, hell I even know how to knit. And I also love guns and fishing and video games and four-wheelers and I love the dichotomy of being both. What feminists like her seem to forget is that we don't have to give up our femininity to achieve equality. It's like the annoying women who say that mothers who choose to stay home with their children, or choose to be housewives are setting women back. No. No they are not. Because as long as it is their choice then I applaud them for doing one of the hardest jobs I can think of.PixieFace said:Feminists like her absolutely her infuriate me. I love being a woman - wearing dresses, brushing my hair, taking care of puppies and children, all that shit. That doesn't mean I am subordinate and "know my place". I know how to fucking stand up for myself but I don't feel the need to trample on good, loving men in the process. Yes, there are scumbags like those soldiers who raped those women - but there are also male heroes in that same military! You can't just look at one bad man and take it as some kind of warped evidence that all men are evil sonsabitches.
hahaha! I'm not a huge fan of the feministsGestapo Hunter said:Im like totally in love with you right now!RouxBelle said:wow. she clearly is nuts..but most feminist are. (1) That was going to be my response, that it seems like in their rush for equality they slid too far in the other direction and their new definition of equality is "treat all men like dirt". It makes me wonder if some of them didn't have a bad experience with one man in particular that stained their view and they fled to the safety hyper-feminism to justify it.RebellionXXI said:(1)I would say it's more like; "A 'true' feminist has to be like a male chauvinist. P.S. I think the same thing is true with regards to 'macho' (a.k.a. closet chauvinist) men. When I was working out one time, I was lifting light weights for numerous reps. A guy came by and, assuming that I wanted to look like one of those big, bulky, masculine guys you see in boxing rings and fitness mags, suggested that I should be lifting heavier weights at fewer reps. Otherwise I'd wind up looking like a woman.
"Oh noez! Not like a WUMENZ!!!!1!!1!ONE!"
I explained to him that I was lifting lighter weights because I hadn't worked out in a while and didn't want to injure myself, but I found it pretty damn offensive that he insinuated that a man being athletic in the same way that a woman is athletic is a bad thing.
This happens to men as much as it happens to women. Maybe even more so, because (in America, at least) I'm pretty sure it happens to ALL men at one point or another. (2) "If you're not a beer-drinking, football-playing, large-muscled, ESPN-watching, six-foot-tall-or-more, square-chinned, handy-around-the-house, buzz-cut, never-cries, drives-a-jacked-up-pickup-truck, pulling-down-six-figures-corporate-executive, seven-inch-penis-having-kind-of-guy then not only will no REAL man ever respect you, but no women will ever like you either."
Makes my balls hurt.
It's one of the reasons I prefer Manga to American comics. In Manga, the strong guys are reasonably sized, or are powerful because they have certain knowledge or skills that they have practiced extensively. In American comics, all the strong guys look like Superman (i.e., a giant triangle on two Slim-Jims with a square jaw and short-cropped hair). I don't want to look like Superman! I HATE Superman! <a href=http://www.Superdickery.com>SUPERMAN IS A DICK!

Stopped there. Honestly, a person like that could never be biased, could they?since I had a conversation with another lesbian feminist sister at the International Feminist Summit
