Really, though, this isn't... right!
Freeman is a freedom fighter! An awesome protagnist and all... But I'm sorry, Link is the definition of hero. He fulfills all sorts of story myths. (and even the flood myth, at that.)
Semantically, Link should win this hands down.

Really, though, I wish they would have made it, "best protagonist" or something to that effect so that I wouldn't be dying inside here.

Funny, we already had a Half-Life vs Zelda showdown [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/tournament/legacy/bracket.php] in the Summer E Games Legacy Battle. Half-Life came out as the winner their, and also won the final duel against Fallout.

No, I just dont see why poeple see Freeman as "AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!".

Me neither. He's a blank sheet that happens to be in an interesting world. I quite like Link though because of how he just gets on with any task that's given to him and always tries to help people. I'd prefer Samus over Link, though. She's one of the few positive female role models in gaming (excluding zero suit Samus, of course).
