No, I just dont see why poeple see Freeman as "AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!".

He's the lead character from the game CS:S and TF2 come from. (not TF1 though... so I suppose TF2 doesn't count, but CS:S still has a huge following.)

Gordon lead Character for TF2 and Cs:s?
Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

TF 1.5*, TF 2, and CS:S are all on the source (Half-Life) engine, so he is linked to them... we win.

His post quite clearly says: He is the lead character from the game that led to these.Which you quoted. So although he isn't actually IN those games his existence ALLOWED those games.

Not really on the character's merit though...

I agree, I didn't say it was fair but that's the way it is, people will like him and say he's awesome because they got a game they love out of "him". (Him being Half-Life)

OT: I'm not sure if Mario lovers will vote Link because they both come from Nintendo however, I only played afew Zelda games but loved Mario.

In Garrys Mod that is a normal day.

My point was people will vote for Gordon even if they don't like Half Life but like any of the games from it. Point I'm trying to make now is whether or not Link gets the same treatment from Nintendo games in a slight attempt to rerail.

Edit: Point of this post = don't talk to me as if I'm a fanboy. (Unless it's about Pac-man, then you're probably right)

In other words, Gordon Freeman is a sort of a mascot for Valve and Half-Life mods, thus people will vote for him regardless of what they think of the character himself.

Actually, Link is no longer a mute. In LoZ:Wind Waker, Link said a few words.

He also had a bunch of dialogue in those Cd-i games,but he almost never talked since then,i wonder why?

Also he may be mute but he is the opposite of silent, almost every time i see someone play him in brawl its like all the buttons are key commands to make him yell with moves added on.

I voted after seeing the Steam update and this thread, for Freeman of course. Although I find these competitions a bit pointless, at least when Freeman wins this we can say Valve owes us an update on Episode 3. Get a damn move on on this game!

You should really read before you post anything that makes you look weird. Half-Life is the base of those games, and the protagonist in Half-Life is *drum roll* Gordon!
TF2 is based somewhat off of Half-Life, Black Mesa and Aparture Science are both mentioned in "documents" or sites that the TF2 team has created.

So CS:S or CS 1.6 is BASED of Half-Life 1, while TF2 and Portal too(wich is an awesome game) are both in the Half-Life UNIVERSE.

hahaha, an all nintendo final would have been funny, but somehow the 24,000 vote lead that Freeman has over Link makes me think this is scenario would be very unlikely
