Really, though, this isn't... right!
Freeman is a freedom fighter! An awesome protagnist and all... But I'm sorry, Link is the definition of hero. He fulfills all sorts of story myths. (and even the flood myth, at that.)
Semantically, Link should win this hands down.

Really, though, I wish they would have made it, "best protagonist" or something to that effect so that I wouldn't be dying inside here.

Gordon by himself isn't great, but the setting is really what made him cool. He's an unlikely/reluctant hero who really doesn't have any self-characterization, but a world that defines him with a great cast and setting. Really though, what I enjoyed more were the mods.

You do know he is the standard groffy looking character just with glasses.He is a crappy character don't get why he is up there so high.

Me neither. He's a blank sheet that happens to be in an interesting world. I quite like Link though because of how he just gets on with any task that's given to him and always tries to help people. I'd prefer Samus over Link, though. She's one of the few positive female role models in gaming (excluding zero suit Samus, of course).

Zero Suit Samus is just giving the fans some nice cheese cake there. She does kick ass there, I would agree with you in preferring Samus over Link, as a character Samus is one of the best. As something I can play, I really suck and can't enjoy by play with Samus. Though Link I can. Though in Brawl I go with Kirby and Samus because no one can kick more ass then Samus, and Kirby eats the evidence of everyone Samus kills.

Tight choice. I'm currently playing HL, HL2 and Twighlight Princess so it was a tough choice. But I went for Link in the end, on the basis that I used to have dreams where I was him.

When I saw that updat I'm like "OMG EPISODE 3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
I was sadly dissapointed. Although I still think ep3 will just show up on Steam, not even front page.
I just had a horrible thought... what if is already our but it is disguised as a really awful game no one has ever bought!

His post quite clearly says: He is the lead character from the game that led to these.Which you quoted. So although he isn't actually IN those games his existence ALLOWED those games.
