No, but, really, isn't this incest? Isn't this supossed to be illegal? I know they are not having the child between themselves, but there must be some hanky panky going down in the bedroom department...

Oh dear, I believe I just made my stumach turn, do excuse me while I go vomit in this corner.

Also, poor kid :(

The following spoiler contains quotes from those of you who haven't read the article yet posted ignorant comments anyway.

this should be utterly illegal, arrest teh father and mother, have the baby either aborted

The kid will not only come out wrong due to it being a result of same family blood...

Just an increased chance of negative genetic traits occuring in the baby

This kid is going to have problems coming out of whatever holes his deformed body will have.
TheWeis said:
Actually the only reason there are increased health risks is because recessive genetic diseases are more likely to appear in children resulting from incestuous relationships (Basically not likely still, unless your family are carriers of a rare disease). So really there aren't that many health risks with incest (but there definitely are with a 72 year old).

well congrats to them and their tard baby.

I dont care, I just feel sorry for the kid, inbreeding is bad mkay.

Now, to address your various concerns:

Isn't the whole point of a surrogate mother that Grandma Pearl ISN'T CARRYING THE BABY? Ergo, there will be no health issues with either carrying the baby or giving birth.

Also, DONOR EGG. Meaning, UNRELATED BIOLOGICAL PARENTS. Meaning NO DEFECTS. Meaning NORMAL KID. Just seriously confused parents :S

Did any of you lovely people even bother READING the article? Or were you too busy throwing up?

[sub]I don't deal with stupidity well. I did actually read through this and I sound like a b****, but really, READ FIRST COMMENT LAST xo[/sub]

[sub]Also, apology to mods. Wasn't sure which was better, mass quoting or mass posting. They both suck, but at least this way I can edit it down??[/sub]
That kid is going to be so the fuck far off of normal. Where did I say the Grandma was going to carry the baby? Sorry for causing your heckles to burst into flames.

Even though the egg isn't hers, a placenta will still join the baby to her, this can cause stem cells within the childs body to adopt genes similar to her own this could then spread thoughout the body of the child, or be forced out if it isn't forced out then effects similar to normal incest could appear.
Going to repeat until this works:

SURROGATE MOTHER CALLED ROXANNE WHO IS 30 AND UNRELATED WILL CARRY THE BABY, NOT PEARL.

Also, the ONLY genetic connection anywhere is from Phil (the grandson/father.) Pearl will not be donating any genetics to the egg, carrying the egg, or otherwise contaminating the baby until it's born. By which time it's too late to mess up it's DNA.
That's certainly not the definition of surrogate mother as Britain understands it, i've no idea what surrogate mother can be applied to in other countries however, i assumed it would be the same everywhere. Where i am that would make Roxanne a [normal] mother under indetured adoption inforcement to Phil and Pearl, not a surrogate mother.

Wouldn't the kid be the dads uncle then? This is just weird, creepy and gross. And even though they love each other, I don't think it's right for them to be the parents. They have the right, but it doesn't seem right to me.

This should have just been the title of the thread, it's all I and most people seem to be able to say.

christ i don't mind criticism, although i do get annoyed by stupid criticism, but to be criticised for by someone doing what they ***** about??

I know nobody will read this 'cos I am so late to the thread but

I know some people like older women but nearly dead women, in your family makes you think "I want a kid with her"?

I feel sorry for that kid, it's social life is ruined and it has no choice about it. I would run away and put myself up for adaption.

So does that make the kid his own great-uncle? I wonder if he'll be able to save us when we're invaded by brainspawn.

There is something very, very wrong with those people. Surely this is illegal... right? Surrogate mother aside, of course.

They should not be allowed to have a child together. Even with a surrogate, there seems to be a very real possibility of severe disabilities. Not only that, but what about when the child goes to school? "My dad is my nephew and my mother's his grandma?" My God, the kid will never be able to live a normal life. And then there's the factor of his mother being likely to die before s/he is out of high school.
