The birth defects usually caused by inbreeding have never seemed like such good news.

I try to be accepting, but sometimes, I simply can't.
There shouldn't be any birth defects because they're going to use another woman's egg. But still, I can't imagine it's healthy, on an incredible amount of levels, physically and mentally, not to mention ethical or responsible...

As I said in the last thread on this topic, it doesn't hurt anyone, they can do what they like.

I don't get why people are making such a big deal out of this.
I think along the same lines, so long as they're not hurting anyone, so be it.

But in this case, they're going to try (key word) to have a child together. Obviously, incest/genetic issues aside in this case, the choice they're making will put their child (granted, if they reach that point) in a more than likely awful situation and environment, which is what I have an issue with.

But ultimately, it's happened (or will happen) and that's that. Certainly something I disagree with (mainly the child part, because you simply cannot control how you feel (acting on those feelings an entirely different case) or who you fall in love with).

Oh wow.... that is so disturbing

OT: No i do not think that they should get to keep the baby...what kind of impact is that going to have on the childs life when He/She finds out that His/Her parents are relatives.

The internet doesn't make you lose faith in humanity, it is simply here to inform. Humanity makes you lose faith in humanity.

Hm. I've never really seen an issue with incestual relationships, as long as any children are adopted, or artificially inseminated. Obviously, that is the case with this, uh, case, but one has to wonder exactly how long this woman will have- Or, more importantly, how long the child will have with the mother.
Actually, if she were considerably older, it might be a little better- less chance the infant will get the chance to latch emotionally onto such an unstable parent figure

Wow.

That is going to be one messed up kid. That's really not fair, the mother will likely die while the kid is in its early to mid teens and will be left to deal with a very.. odd.. dad.

They should really consider what they are doing.

I can't even comment on the whole incest thing.. eww.
What is a fair upbringing exactly? I mean, my mum let me do whatever I want, but the past 5 years of my life have been plagued by social services because they "think" me and my brothers were all brought up wrong, and i've been psychologically assessed constantly.

I still think my upbringing was pretty fair to me, because I found out what the world is like.

This kid, with such a relationship will probably grow up with a more open mind than most other kids because of his parents. Which is a great gift.
Or kill themselves, because, you know, their dad is screwing their great-grandmother, who's also their mother.

If a grandma and grandson wanna sit around and fuck each other- whatever. I have no part in that. They should not be having kids though. Think of the life that kid will have being raised by people in that sort of mindset.
Are you kidding? That poor little bastard will make Oedipus' kids look like lucky tykes. At least they were born into money!
As I'm reading this, I am getting ready to go perform Antigone with at my school.

Meh, I'm sorry, if the worst thing you can say is 'EWWW' or 'That kid'll have issues' then it's really none of your damn business. You'd be surprised what doesn't give some people crippling issues when they aren't raised to think of themselves as broken somehow.

I honestly think it's kinda disturbing, but so what? I don't suddenly have to have a relationship with my grandma, do I? None of my damn business. If they were having a kid the old fashioned way there would be problems with high rates of birth defects and other quantifiable things, so that would be a real issue, but they aren't, so I don't see the big deal.

The only real problem with this is that the kid isn't going to know her mama very long. Everyone saying ewwww is pretty close-minded. They have a freaking surrogate mother.

So she's the kids mother and great grandmother at the same time? These things always give me a headache.
Gives you the headache? How about for the child? It is just wrong that they know that the mother will probably die before the kid even understands the situation (will he/she ever). ... ... Ok. Now I got headache for this :D But this really has quite a high ewwwwness-factor.
