Great bands that you just never "got".

Black Sabbath. I really like Neon Knights, but everything leaves me cold. It seems right up my alley, too.

The Cure. Not really my style and I have never met a fan that isn't a total degenerate fuck.
My mum really likes The Cure, but that's just cause she likes the nostalgia of 80s music (she was in her 20s then). Maybe she *was* a degenerate back then, who knows :p

Daft Punk *the shields, they cannot take it captain* - I just don't get it honestly. Some bass, some bleeps and bloops and lyrics repeated over and over in a robotic sounding voice. Sounds like every other dance song to me.
Yeah, I had the same opinions about dance music when I was younger, but it was Daft Punk that actually got me liking it :D Not saying I'm some kind of electronica or drum-n-bass fanatic, just that I don't mind it any more. If you're young, give it time; your music tastes might change... what am I saying, you're probably the same age as me, if not older haha.

OT:
The Beatles +1
It's not that they're bad at all; they're just... "pleasant".

Metallica have a few good songs, but overall just "meh".

The Rolling Stones

Led Zeppelin

Queen
"OMG Bohemian Rhapsody is the best song ever in the whole entire world!!!" - mmm, I don't see what's so great about it; it's just kinda all over the place.

Radiohead

---

I think everyone's pretty much in agreement here :D

I tend to enjoy some electronic but it just depends on my mood really. To be honest I just have a gut response to electronic music meaning I can't really explain why a may like one electronic song and despise another.

The Beatles and Led Zeppelin are unremarkable aside from a couple good tracks each.

Aerosmith and AC/DC are so terrible it makes me angry just hearing them. Same goes for the Eagles and the Sex Pistols

Nickelback...I just can't listen to a band who simultaneously preaches for the whole world to 'stand together' and to 'burn it to the ground'. It just kinda falls flat.

At least the guys from Rise Against, crazy vegans that they are, have a sense of consistency.

Again, I don't like the Beatles as much as some do. The lesson learned here is that music is entirely subjective - even if large swaths of the population converge on a few bands, it does not make those bands objectively better. You can argue about musicianship and originality, but in the end individuals like what they like and don't like what they don't like.

As to the folks that pan bands based largely or even somewhat on the fact that they dislike members of the bands - pretty much all my favorite bands engage in behavior I don't agree with and a lot of them are honestly pretty horrible human beings, but I can still acknowledge that their music appeals to me anyway.

I wholly agree with the Grateful Dead.
I also want to throw out Muse, I just don't get it.
Thirdly, I just don't like Slipknot.
I agree with all of this (pretty much, never really listened to any Grateful Dead stuff and/or if I did it didn't interest me) although I did hear Muse last week, one of their earlier songs, and it wasn't as terrible as I remember. Not anything I'd be adding to any playlists but it was a pleasant enough few minutes.

I'd say any metal outside of a few Disturbed songs and one Skindred song. It just doesn't appeal to me as a genre so any metalheads can probably rattle of their favourite bands and I won't have got them.

Great song writer, just don't let that man sing.
I could go on for ages about how his voice is the best thing ever. That comment hit me right in the feels : (

OT: I really have no idea. I usually have my reasons for not liking something, popular or not. I guess I could say Whitney Houston. She just isn't interesting to listen to, in my opinion. Her voice is amazing, no doubt about it, but she just seems so bland to me.

Tool. The worst part is a few of my mates really love Tool and so I quite often get played 'this one track that will totally change your opinion and make you utterly love Tool'. It never does.

This thread is a bit silly, to all the people saying they don't get AC/DC and led zeppelin. This means you don't like hard rock, which is fine, but saying their music sucks is silly.

People saying they don't Get Queen just don't like classic Rock. which is fine but saying Don't stop me now, Bohemian Rapsody and Killer queen aren't full of win, to me, means your a little dead inside. Shivers every time.

classic rock is something have to dig, but saying it straight up sucks I think is stupid.

the beatles aren't bad.... you don't like their music. It isn't bad, saying that is just incorrect. Me playing a guitar is bad, I can't play the guitar.

What I don't get is U2, but that might have something to me not liking Bono.

I think after this thread sofar we have no other choice but to conclude Guns and roses is the best band ever, for the merrit of not being mentioned once sofar among all the other blasphemy. And welcome to the jungle is pretty awesome so I guess no argument from me there.

Being a giant Tool fan, I can fully understand your perception. He isn't for everybody.

OT: Aerosmith. I realize they are technically good musicians, but the lyrics and guitar just don't do a damn thing for me.

Bruce Springsteen. I think his songs are pointless, and his music awful sounding. Good performer but he deserves little musical recognition.

Country music. The entire genre can fuck right off. I do not care about your tractor, how sexy she thinks it is or how much Jack you drank.

Muse. I have 2 of their songs and I like them but I just can't get into them enough to go and find an album and listen to it.

Add me into the pile who hate The Beatles! I really hate the music style, it just seems too happy, friendly and drug addled for me to get into it. On the other end we have Nirvana and Linkin Park, bands who take the concept of misery and drag it down to levels that all I want to say to them is:

defenitly not your fault, and you raise a good point. I really can't say why I don't like U2, but I don't. I should, but I don't.
