Metallica, Kiss and AC/DC - are testaments to how far you can go with modest skills. Most Metallica fans don't even know many of the songs they are famous for are actually covers. I like 3-4 tracks and that's it.
Eh what? Most of their songs on the first four albums are pretty technical, to call them modestly skilled is really not being fair on their musical ability, whether or not you like them. What you think of the music is down to subjective opinion, which is fair enough, but on a sheer technical level, they were instrumental in taking hard and fast metal to the next musical step.

Secondly, where and how on earth did you come to that conclusion? About the only two covers by Metallica that are "famous" are "Am I Evil?" which any Metallica fan should know is a cover of Diamond Head, and debatedly "Whiskey in the Jar", which is hardly a song they're famous for. Master of Puppets, Enter Sandman, Seek and Destroy, Whiplash, Orion, Ride the Lightning, One, Fade to Black and Nothing Else Matters are some of their most famous songs, and if those are covers, enlighten me.

Queen, I've never really liked their music all that much, which is a bit weird because I like ELO, and Supertramp, and they seem to be similar styles...

Metallica: I never got them or most 80's metal for that matter and their stance on filesharing and their poor attitudes did not help that.

Sublime: I hate them and the whole music movement they were a part of I have to say and I know I might get flamed for it I was glad when i heard the lead singer was dead because it meant all I would have to do is weather the storm and then they would fade out. Seriously that part in Saints row 3 in the beginning where they start singing sublime pains me so much i get out of the car and walk to the mission objective.

Most of the bands that are technically very proficient, like Rush and Dream Theatre and people like Steve Vai and Joe Satriani. Yeah, they're awesome musicians and I can appreciate how hard that stuff is to play but it just seems a bit masturbatory to me. All style and no substance.

Sex Pistols. I'm told over and over that they're one of the most important bands in mainstream history, and I say "yes, but are they any more listenable this time?"

The answer is no. It is always no.
I'm just post this quote from Questionable Content. "Thank God. The Sex Pistols were fucking terrible."

OT: Green Day. They are simultaneously the most punk band at the moment and the biggest sellouts. At the iHeart Radio show in Vegas this year, Billy Joel Armstrong stopped the band mid song, started complaining that they should be allowed to play longer instead of the pop "artists" and smashed his guitar. But then they apologize for it. They made American Idiot (just the song) and then there's American Idiot: The Musical. Music is good I just wish they'd make up their mind about what kind of people they are.
I'd say they were justified for acting out because their time got cut off for Usher.

On topic: Radiohead, they sound very whiny it's hard to like them. Dosen't help that they apparently treat their fans like garbage.

Wow, most people's opinion in this thread is either rock, trash or classic band. Well, I'm gonna go with U2 which confuses me on how they tend to be so popular and also got the ranking of no.2 in VHS 90's because when I heard them sing, they don't even affect my liking on them at all. I only like one of their song and that's it.

Green Day is also put on my list. Every single one of my friends are enjoying their songs especially "21 guns" and the radio as well the TV are playing their songs. I heard a lot of other band sings the way they do and they become my favorite over the years, but not Green Day.

Nirvana. I honest to god describe them as a head/stomach-ache in music form. I'm cool with people liking them, and the intros to some of their songs are pretty fun, but then I start feeling a bit nauseous from it. I'm really not even exaggerating it for the sake of the internet, i think it's just that weird combination of their grunge sound and the singers voice that affects me.

Radiohead. I want to like them like everyone else seems to, but besides Creep and No Surprises, I just can't.

They're really hard to get into. The best way I've heard is to play it as background music at a lower volume and not focus on each song. But hey, you could just have different tastes, and that's cool.

Jeeze, I'm surprised to see so many "The Beatles" Haters (Or people who don't like them, not necissarily hate them). I mean, "The Grateful Dead" I understand; they're kind of out there, though I like Aoxomoxoa.

What I'm really surprised at, is the fact no one has said Captain Beefheart yet! The dude basically founded Alt Rock with his legendary album, "Trout Mask Replica"!

That's right; This is one of the very first Alternative Rock albums ever created. Without it, Alternative Rock probably wouldn't exist.

OT: I don't like Metal Bands. Grunge is okay from time to time, but most of it is dumb. I hate all the modern day Electro-Pop that exists too.

Yes, because the best Beatles song is this:

Why?

Because Dark Tower. That's why.

1. The Beatles: I know they revolutionized rock, but to me, their music seems bland to me.
2. Rush: My overexposure to another certain band from Canada has led to me to believe there are no good Canadian bands out there (apologies to Canadians).
3. Simple Plan: One word: *pretentious emo moaning*
4. Guns n' Roses: Axl Rose sounds like a choir boy with his testicles removed, imo.

Most definitely Led Zeppelin. Now matter how hard I try, I just can't like more then a few songs. To a lesser degree, I would add Metallica, Rush, R.E.M, Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix...Probably others.

Abba. I just find their music extremely boring to listen to, and while I can appreciate their simplistic greatness, I just plain don't like it.

As a side note, I don't understand why people still like Metallica. They used to be great, but now they're just mediocre at best. I learned this first hand at a music festival last year.

Rush. The singer's voice is just shrill, terrible and borderline torture.
Led Zepplin. Stairway to Heaven aside, their music just isn't that great.
The Beatles. Most people say they're the geatest band in the world. I just don't see it.
I want to lash out right now, you have no idea. In fact I'm going to make a playlist of all the music I have of these bands and listen to it all night long.

This thread is a bit silly, to all the people saying they don't get AC/DC and led zeppelin. This means you don't like hard rock, which is fine, but saying their music sucks is silly.

People saying they don't Get Queen just don't like classic Rock. which is fine but saying Don't stop me now, Bohemian Rapsody and Killer queen aren't full of win, to me, means your a little dead inside. Shivers every time.

classic rock is something have to dig, but saying it straight up sucks I think is stupid.

the beatles aren't bad.... you don't like their music. It isn't bad, saying that is just incorrect. Me playing a guitar is bad, I can't play the guitar.

What I don't get is U2, but that might have something to me not liking Bono.

I think this guy knows what's going on. Lots of people are making hit and run statements saying that they dislike a band without giving a reason. Give me a reason other than you don't like them and that'd be more valid. I guess saying you don't like bands because the music doesn't appeal to you is admissible because of the title of the thread, but I wouldn't say that makes for good discussion.

I guess I should go ahead and say the bands I never "got". That's personally tough, I'm not predisposed to hate most music. The music I listen to is the stuff I love, so I don't listen to the music I consider bad. I don't listen to most modern bands so I guess you can count those.

Also, shed a tear, for many of my favorite bands have been denigrated on this list. Led Zeppelin, Metallica, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones, U2, The Clash, Rush. Only a few of my favorites haven't been mentioned so I guess they win in the Escapist collective mind. I don't think The Who, Iron Maiden, or CCR have been mentioned. May it remain that way!

Oh, they were justified but that wasn't the point. The point was that they apologized for it. Punk rock is all about being anti-establishment and breaking things. Matt Sorum actually called them out on it, saying it was "the most punk rock thing he has ever done? and added: ?Then he had to go an ruin it by apologising. Corporate rock is alive and well."

Muse - I actually just started listening to more due to their song Madness, but I've gone back through their stuff and still only like a couple songs.

White Chapel - My friend and I are both into metal. He swears that this band is the greatest thing since sliced bread, but they sound like absolute shit to me lol.

Rolling Stones - I like a few songs, but a lot of their other stuff is really "meh" to me and I've heard a lot of their stuff from my dad being a huge fan.

Epica - They're okay, but I like Nightwish a lot more.
I don't care much for Whitechapel either, but I would love to see them in concert again. Those guys put on a hell of a show.

OT: 1. The Eagles, I really can't get into them, and I don't know why.
2. Death Cab for Cutie. All I have to say is if I hear "I Will Follow You Into The Dark" one more god damn time I'll turn into the Hulk.

Green Day, and all the other music aimed at the preteen girl demographic. Speaking of which...

Punk is all about being rebellious, not whiny. When I hear evidence that the audience was complaining about Usher running too long, then I'll acknowledge his actions as justified. As it is, all I gather from it is someone else's set ran long and he threw a shit fit, using far more profanity than necessary (protip: the higher the density of "fuck"s in a sentence, the less impact each individual one has,) screaming about how long he's been making music (not as long as Usher,) complaining that he shouldn't get this kind of treatment since he's not Justin Bieber (yet sidestepping the fact that he is performing at iHeartradio,) smashing a guitar for literally no reason (you generally do that after some sort of insane rock finale guys,) and finally backing off, blaming it on alcohol (conveniently ignoring the fact that for decades people have been performing while under the influence of substances infinitely more dangerous and mind-altering than alcohol.)

That's like 5 points against him. Even if it was justified, that's still only 1 in his favor.

Also, I'm a Punk fan, but I really don't like The Clash, or Sex Pistols. They pale in comparison to the lesser known Punk groups in the UK at the time.
As a fellow fan of Punk I can say I totally agree. I liked The Clash when I was getting into the genre and I still respect their music, but now that I've found so many other artists they just sound kind of... meh.

Sex Pistols is just shit, really. Never liked the music. Never liked the members of the band. I'll proudly admit that I got into punk via bastardised pop-punk from the 90s/00s. Still better than that shit. Ugh.
