Not sure if this counts, but all my friends except 2 have never played Star Control 1 and 2.

And it's superior half-brother, Galactic Civilizations 2.

Also, this thread is another "Underappreciated games" thread. There are several OP, you just didn't use the right words (I've made that mistake once).

Yeah, that seems to be a problem when search for topics to make sure that they're not reposting a topic.

And I just learned that there's a new Jet Force Gemini in development. One word sums my opinion of this: JUSTICE!!

Homeworld 1 (Pre 2002 I mean).

When Homeworld was first released it didn't receive nearly the press or fan following it deserved. It was only a year or so later that I think it really caught on. Even then I just thought it wasn't as recognized as it should have been by the gaming community.

Otherwise I'd have to say Scorched Earth: Mother of All Games. Man that game was so addictive.

Braid. I know that it is kind of popular and getting attention, but that's from a small group of people who can spot good games. In high school all the talk is about Gears 2 and COD5. I wish those people would stop buying games that offer nothing new so that more developers will make games that are actually innovative.

Body Harvest (N64) - If the graphics didn't suck so much more people would have probably loved it.

For a recent example, Valkyria Chronicles. It came out earlier this month and it is great. This is coming from someone who doesn't usually like Japanese Strategy RPGs. If you have some spare money, check it out. Poor game is getting flooded by the wave of AAA, mega-hyped titles with tons of ad support this year because Sega rather back Sonic than an original IP that is actually good...

No offense, but didn't that game exist entirely to promote a trailer for Metal Gear Solid 2? I don't know much about the game, except for that little bit of trivia.

Though not really unnoticed in its time, the Might and Magic games (particularly VII) were excellent examples of open-world western RPGs from the 90s. I'm just surprised that no one really talks about them anymore. Seriously, the scale of Might and Magic VII blew my 13-year-old mind when it came out.

Gotta second Homeworld. That was a classic; years ahead of its time and with one of the greatest campaigns I've ever seen in a game. In fact, a certain Englishman would do well to review it.

You're kidding, right? Maybe I should've added a /sarcasm for some help.
