Speaking of Bill Murray, What About Bob is a classic.
That's my favourite movie I love to hate.

- Coup de Ville
- Welcome to The Dollhouse
- Swimming With Sharks aka The Buddy Factor
- Dead Man
- The Three Amigos
- Fucking Amal

And Galaxy Quest was a pretty damn good yet underrated movie aswell.

I'd have to say the "Boondock Saints". It's just so funny, yet no one I've talked to has ever heard of it. Another would be "The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy".
Boondock Saints has the FUNNIEST lines. "How the f***... what the f***... how the f*** did you two f***in' f***s... F***!" "Well, that certainly illustrates the diversity of the word."

People hated the Hitchhiker's Guide movie, but I rather enjoyed it. It didn't follow the first book, precisely, and added the gun, but the cast was brilliant (Alan Rickman as the voice of Marvin the Paranoid Android), the ship was freaking awesome, and "So Long And Thanks For All The Fish" was insanely catchy in my head.

I have to add Sukiyaki Western Django to this list. It was SO weird and confusing but the whole thing was done in this beautiful style, and the Heike and Genji gangs were so funny. Too bad almost NO ONE has ever heard of it.

Oh, and Suicide Club. It's a stylistic Japanese thriller that explores the dissatisfaction and dissociation of modern Japanese youth in this really neat and compelling way, but again, no one has ever heard of it.

The Hunted: not too deep, but boy did it have good knife fighting

Ransom: apart from the "GIVE-ME-BACK-MY-SON" meme on youtube this film seems really under-appreciated for how good it is at covering the kidnapping plot.

Equilibrium.

Damn good movie. Lots of action, shooting and oppressive governments!
Yes. The gunkata is so awesome! Where else can you see people parry in a gunfight?
Where else can you use Math in a gun fight? :p

There are a lot to choose from, so I'll just list my top five, in no order.

1. Gattaca: Just...awesome. How can you go wrong with Jude Law and Ethan Hawke? Plus, it's title is a strand of DNA, which is pretty cool.

2. Evolution: "Don't cut off my leg!" "Hmm, it's moving towards the groin area..." "TAKE THE LEG! TAKE THE LEG!"

3. History of the World, Part 1: "And now I bring you these 15...*smash* Oy. Ten...Yes, Ten Commandments!"

4. Halloween 2: Seriously, you hear everyone talk about how scary the original Halloween is, but the sequel is just as scary, if not moreso due to the lack of score.

5. The Usual Suspects: Sure, most people know of the ending, but how many people have actually seen the whole movie?

Yes, it's a photoshop composite of Daniel Craig in 'Casino Royale' and Alfred E. Neuman of Mad Magazine.

I'm thinking maybe I should change it, though it did come from such epic win:

Yeah, harshest criticism of Quantum of Solace... ever. Also matches my feelings of such a terrible sequel.

Any suggestions on a replacement?

Yea, Sukiyaki Western was so confusing you kinda have to laugh at it. I was lost through out the movie, but I enjoyed all the weird combat scenes.

A LOT of these movies aren't underrated. A couple are under-watched, sure, but most here aren't underrated.

OT: I just watched a movie called The Brothers Bloom that didn't get a wide release despite the fact that it's full of quirky humour and heart. I'm surprised that it never did get anything more than its current cult following.
Wooo I love this movie! My underrated is Battle Royale, don't know anybody who's heard of it, but since you guys are movie buffs most likely, I bet you have.
What a coincidence! I referenced a movie that you loved and you referenced a movie that I loved! I have seen over 2500 movies in my life and Battle Royale sits snugly in my top 15 of all time! I'm dreading the American remake though. It was derailed by the writer's strike but that doesn't mean that it's gone for good. I figure it's inevitable that it will get made.
American remake? Why don't they just watch the subtitled version, those bastards! Oh well, I'd like to see white girls beating the shit out of each other, heh-heh.

Because most people who aren't cinema lovers dislike reading subtitles. I don't mind because I'm hard of hearing anyway but many people, Americans and Canadians especially, would rather watch a dubbed version or an English-language remake over an original subtitled version.

Knowing America you're not going to see too much violence in the remake. They get squeamish when children fight so most of the death scenes are going to be off-camera. They're also most likely going to make it PG-13 so there's going to be no blood, sex, or gore and they're going to cram in a message like "Violence is bad and Democracy is good. Rah rah America!" Basically the Battle Royale remake is going to be like The Condemned: some parts will be pretty cool but it's mostly going to be a preachy, over-patriotic, and terrible film.

Oh I know that movie! It's was fun. Another underrated comedy is Evolution. Just for the notion that they kill aliens with Head & Shoulders.
I remember that used to scare me when I was young :p

OT: I quite liked Ghost Town as it is quite funny but no-one seems to talk about it.
