-Duke Nukem Forever's ending. I've never cried so much in my life
...

OH! After the motorcycle race with Satan. And the time right after that when Duke had to jump off his escape-helicopter from Planet X to... To suicide bomb the whole damn planet...

My god, it was so emotional!

Interactivity really makes it. Some of my faves:
COD:MW1 (Price sliding you the pistol)
Braid (playing yourself backwards)
Phoenix Wright (the endings to the DS versions actually force you to use the one feature you probably never used; yelling "Objection" into the microphone, just before the credits)

The ending to Onimusha: Warlords was fucking awesome. No other game I've played ends with such badassedness.

For some reason, a ton of people hate it, but I LOVE the ending to CoD4.

Price sliding you a gun and giving you the opportunity to kill the guy was AWESOME.
I completely agree. When I first played I was like aww man I'm screwed, but then
Price slid his gun to me and I was like YEA! IT'S ON NOW IMRAN ZAKHAEV!

It did suck that everybody died, but it did help make the ending more emotional.

Great ending.

Shadow of the Colossus - Honestly was sad for my mute hero. I only started to guess that would happen when I noticed he was pale and he had the black veins going across his face.

Kingdom Hearts I and II - I couldn't put one over the other. I loved both endings. They both made me cry like a little girl

Silent Hill 2 - It was the first game I played with multiple endings that where truly sad.

Most people hated this one, but this ending made me want to know what happened next more than anything

Metal Gear Solid 2 - Most people will say 3 for its emotional value or 4 because it wraps up everything, but I personally liked this because I've never liked a cliff hanger so much

HL2: Ep. 2. I usually don't get involved in games, but I was MAD when Eli died. Combine sons of bitches.... which is why I'm so PATIENTLY WAITING for ep. 3.

Mass Effect also had a great ending.

hmm, I don't have a singular favorite ending so I'll give a list of the games I can think of.

1) Mass Effect (badassery at its finest)
2) Final Fantasy X (One of the few games that can consistently get me to tear up)
3) Call of Duty 4 (Very powerful imagery)
4) Halo 3 (Say what you want about the series, the ending was great)
5) Beyond Good & Evil (yay!)

Half Life 2

Essentialy, the reactor blows up, and just as you and alex are about to be killed, time stops, and G-man enters a monologue. Suddenly, the screen goes black, and all you can see is the G-man talking to you. After his monologue, he steps into a doorway of light, and the credits roll.

Not overly amazing, but I liked it.

My favorite ending was Half life 2, it gives me the chills every time I hear Gman
Although I shed a tear for Sergent Forge at the end of Halo Wars

Come to think of it, not many games do endings well. I suppose the Majora's Mask ending was okay, but I think it wasn't as good as the rest of the game.

Other than that, Mischief Makers, had an interesting ending, and of course Portal is good but...

HL2:Ep3 is probably going to be the best of all time (it had better be).

final fantasy tactics (yes I said this for the intro but the ending was amazing too)

I loved it, it puts me though so many emotions, just like the rest of this outstanding game

Maybe not the "greatest" ending in the history of games, but Silent Hill 2 gets me every time, even when I think about it I kinda get a lump in my throat, and for a game to accomplish that is saying a lot. It's nothing more than a voiceover, but man does it hit the emotion button.

I'd have to agree that Portal's ending is pretty epic, too. I've always been a firm believer that when you finish a game, there should be a sreally cool payoff, and Portal did that most impressively.

La la la la la la la... Still aliiiiive...

Shit. Now I've done it, that's gonna be stuck in my head for the rest of the night now.
