I hate that game and those who think they can play guitar after playing Guitar Hero.
I'll let others have their opinions, but to me Guitar Hero is an just expensive button masher.

Its not the guitar that's the problem, its the method of learning the song - I bet if you give him your guitar again then throw different coloured balls at him in rapid succesion he'll soon pick it up.

Well it may not actually make you one, but it does make you feel like one, which is kinda the point of the game.

Though with singing its a different story, you need to be able to change your pitch quite rapidly and hold notes for the expert singing on rock band.

Okay i was talking to a mate of mine (He is a die-hard GH player) and he was bragging about 100%ing Raining Blood by Slayer on Expert (No small task). I was fine with this......until he started acting like he was a pro who knew everything there is to know about guitar.

It's halo MLG syndrome all over again. As an actual Guitarist (Playing for 9 years now) it annoys the hell out of me to see Nerds like him acting like rockstars. His head is so far up his own ass that he can't realise that he is just pressing buttons a plastic toy in rapid succession.

Has anyone else experienced this?
its like the guys who play cod and think they are soldiers, or the people who play FIFA and think they are pro football (soccer)

im not guitarist, ive never played a guitar but im a huge fan of eric clapton and jimi hendrix and such like and i appreciate its difficulty. sure GH is fun and i cant deny but its definatly not the real thing

It's not supposed to, really.

I don't understand why people say "Play a real guitar!"

If I wanted to, I would. Hell, I don't even like GH/RB, and I seem to understand this.
This is the only correct logical reasoning to this debate.
I already play 2 instruments and have dabbled around on real guitar, and surprisingly enough still enjoy guitar hero a lot. There's a difference and I think every child knows this, but reasonable people don't compare it, and therefore the argument is void (it's a game... for fucks sake people). Of course you always have idiots, but these exist for all topics you can think about and therefore: Fucking ignore them OR try to argue it out, but mind you idiots don't like logic so that might be quite a challenge.

I have friends like this and holy shit its annoying, But the thing is its not on expert but ON EASY.

Friend1: dude i played the metal last night and actually finished it, man im awesome
Me: whoa on expert?
Friend1: no on easy
Friend2: wow i suck at the metal
Me: wow your shit at guitar hero. I could play the song on a real guitar blind folded
Friend1: real guitar is for faggots
Friend2: ya lol

Im not even fucking kidding you. Those were the exact words
WOW slap your friend for me would you? I can play The Metal on Hard but give me a real guitar and I'd probably use it as a coaster. And I'm not ashamed of that in the slightest!

OT: the OP's friend... I can understand if he was just proud of his accomplishments on GH in general, cos let's face it, even something easy on Expert is really hard to play. However, acting like you're a stellar guitar player is kinda douchey.

Reminds me of 7 year old Halo players, i like to call them "Squeakers".
I'd prefer them to be called "frazzled", but Microsoft won't entertain the idea of my proportionate response system (a remote-activated electrocution system built into the platforms of children).

And the difference between real guitar and Guitar Hero is highly noticeable - starting off on Guitar Hero is considerably easy compared to starting off on guitar, and of course you'd know. Luckily, most of those pretentious GH players are ignored.

Actually I've never experienced it before.
But you can prove it to him that he can't play a guitar by giving him a guitar and ask him to play something.

I started on GH, and I'm what I'd call relatively decent. I play gigs, am recording an album next month, and touring hte US next year (I'm an aussie).

I couldn't have done it without GH.

Guitar Hero is not only the antithesis of guitar skill, it actually kills it! I'm by no means any good on the guitar, but it seems like my skill with the guitar becomes worse after playing a hour or two of GH (if that's even possible).

There is a cure for this.
Let him play on your guitar or a real guitar in general.

Either he'll get crushed undisputeably, or he'll rock your buttocks off :p
Probably the first part though!
That i did, Twas quite a blast
He sucked

Oh?
Did he roxx or suxx?

I didn't mean to come along as Doc.Buzz kill, I understand that Guitar hero can be fun and it brings a sence of achievement. I was complaining about people who let it go their heads.

Or

you can just suit your self
