Does anyone on the escapist play guitar? Well, here's a shiny new thread to talk about them. And yes, i searched.

I've been playing for 6 years now. I play metal almost exclusively. I've got a Tokai SG that i don't really like, and an Ibanez SZ320 which is quite literally perfect.
Here she is. Mahogany body, set-through neck, string through body. I love her.
What about anyone else?

Edit: If anyone plays bass, feel free to talk about that here as well.
Edit 2: For any guitarists playing metal, here's a link to my metal thread. You should be able to find recommendations for more metal bands in there if you're looking for some new stuff to learn. /horribly disguised self plug.

I play Bass! No formal lessons, mostly by ear. Picked it up a year ago to stave off boredom when I was living up north. I'm slowly learning to play 'properly', and I really enjoy it.

I've got a simple bass: Fender Squire. Not going to wow anybody, but I've been told (Both before and after my purchase) that it's a good starter bass. Might get a newer, better one eventually (Like an acoustic...I'd love an acoustic bass).

I myself am learning to play an Acoustic guitar. Currently taking lessons, and so far I can only play part of Today by Smashing Pumpkins, and a slow version of the riff for Smoke on the Water.

I stopped having lessons ages ago, haven't quite managed to sort out the whole 'by ear' thing yet though. I've fiddled about with basses occasionally, i can't quite cope with them. I keep putting my fingers between the strings trying to find the other two. Although I agree on the acoustic bass front, those things are beautiful.

Well I never played 5 or 6 string, so I don't have that problem! Woo!
And yes...I played an acoustic bass in a music store (Same store I got my bass from), and it was gorgeous.

Just...heavenly.

Well, it's settled. Let's start an internet band.

First instrument was Alto Sax.
Then Bass, then guitar.

My favorite guitar is my Tacoma DR-38 which has the most perfect acoustic guitar sound that has a full body of dynamic sound (it'll play as loud as I hit it, some acoustics only get so loud), and a real deep tone.

Next favorite is my old Jaguar, but I'm partial to Fenders. I love the indie rock tone.
Bass, just an old P-bass.

I dabble in the guitar and the mandolin. And the piano, but I don't really spend any time practicing so they all just take up space right now.

About 3 years. Epiphone Special II Custom. And by custom, I mean I customized it myself. And by that, I mean I added a slot for a pick on the body near the neck. And by that, I mean put together some tape.

It actually helps you in Rock Band, though, rather than hinder it as I thought it would. Anything other than Expert feels awkward to me. Of course, I haven't played the bunch of harder ones. =P

I play both electric and acoustic, and have been for 6 years now. I take lessons, and I've started writing some simple riffs and messing around with scales.

I've been playing the Bass for just over two years now. Also I've been taking lessons for one of those two years.

I play guitar, been playing since I was about 10, however only been playing "seriously" for about 2 years now. I try to practice an hour or two every day.

I play a ESP Ltd. MH-400NT. When I get money, I'll buy a ESP SV White, I reckon. That, or a Eclipse.

Couple years. Rock, metal, blues, jazz, you name it. All I have is a fender strat, unless you count my old squier...

I write stuff, but don't really record much these days.

I play guitar and have been since I was about 6. Took lessons till I was 11. Then I stopped and I picked it up again this year. To begin with I only played with a simple Yamaha ERG 121 since it comes in a set with an amp (Google it). But this year I got myself a brand, spanking, new Ibanez Gio which I love.

I play electric if that wasn't obvious by the ^^ above. I play a range of stuff but I love the blues especially. The blues scale is real fun to muck about on.

An internet band eh? I like it. We can get really rich and then buy the world. I may be getting ahead of myself here, i'm not that good, but still, it'd fun.

I'm learning at the moment, got me a Telecaster which i love.

Rusty Bucket your Ibanez is epic.
Thanks. honestly, she's perfect for me (yes, i refuse to call my guitars 'it'). She's quite heavy and fairly thick which i love. Also, she's built like a tank, you can't damage her at all. The string through body means the strings vibrate inside the mahogany which gives her massive sustain and a really rounded tone.

I play guitar, purely as a hobby. I'd say I've been playing a couple of years, still not very good though. I have a Yamaha Pacifica 012 (drop C, gathering dust) an Ibanez SZ720 (tuned a whole step down) and an Ibanez S470 (Standard tuning, my favourite). My amp is a Line 6 Spider III 75w. Sounds a bit shite cranked up, but just right for me.

To listen to, I'm into death metal primarily, but I find blues the most satisfying to play on the guitar.

Yes, I know you're all jealous of my bedcovers.

Damn you! That was the SZ i wanted! Couldn't find it anywhere, i just wanted it for the flame inlays. Love the S470 as well. Is the S the on with Ibanez's Zero Resistance tremelo? I've always wondered what those things were like.
