I watched all series of this show and alternative works by their authors. The music and a animation are very cool.

Spoilers THis is the movie and just goes to show you how goddamn over the top it gets (sorry for lack of subs, couldn't find a subb that wasn't blocked)
EDIT: Pointing out that the scale by this point is in light years

Gurren Lagann is an odd show. In the categories of story Gurren Lagann is...lacking. It's no piece of great fiction. It is, however, something that is flat out entertaining and polished to a shine. Gurren Lagann is what happens when a show relies almost solely on style, and succeeds.

I wouldn't say Gurren Lagann is the god of anime. There are better things to watch, and cowboy bebop stays in my mind the gold standard for anime. But, Gurren Lagann definitely shouldn't be missed by an anime enthusiast.

Exactly! The awesomeness of TTGL was Simon's transformation from scared kid to impossibility-shattering leader. Kamina inspired the impossible; Simon and Kittan DID the impossible.

He was much better as inspiration than he was being on-screen and annoying the hell out of me. I'll take Simon/Kittan/Viral/Leeron/Yoko/Rossiu/Boota over Kamina any day.
Still, tell me you didn't explode with glee when...

The "real" Kamina returned in Episode 25 to kick Simon out of the trap existence.

I suppose that's the final word on his inspiring presence though.
Of course, but that wasn't because I necessarily liked Kamina - but exactly as you said, it was his inspiration; what he MEANT rather than what he DID.

Hell, that entire scene was him telling Simon that it had been him driving things all along - that Kamina could never have done it alone. Simon was the focus of that scene, as well he should have been.

Of course I've seen it, who the hell do you think I am?!
It's stupid and ridiculous, but I kind of like that about it, so what the hell. And if you never got chills during any of the speeches, you probably aren't human. Hell, Simon's Rebirth still sort of puts me in the mood for taking on anything.

It should be mentioned there's a lot of things about the series you might miss out on unless you give it a good think. Like Kamina's flaws, and how Simon faces everything head on (i.e. its the option nobody tries, and the only successful one.) I think TVTropes has a lot of these things discussed somewhere.
