I annoys me, but only because they must be living a crappy conceded life to think ALL guys are like that, or to be able to say most guys are, im sure if they looked in the right places they could find a whole lot of nice guys.. say.. Canada..? come on up here people!

Well, that statement would only bother me if I were actually an asshole, because then they would be making an accurate observation. Since I am not the aforementioned asshole, I feel sorry for whoever it is that feels that way. With that kind of outlook, they'll go through life missing out on meeting a lot of great people. Hell, when you block off a whole gender from your social spectrum, that tends to have some negative affects on a persons social life as a whole.

Yeah, its annoying that people generalize, especially when its gender based.. for some reason that I cant quite put my finger on. Because really, any huge sweeping overwhelmingly negative generalization should be irritating. But that said, like some of the other guys who posted its hard to give the stupid dyke any grief because I am an unashamed asshole. I am the assholeist of the assholes.

So yeah, its a hard argument to dent from my standpoint. lucky being an asshole gives me free pass to be a hypocrite. Man being an asshole is great, I don't know why everyone is int a total asshole too. Oh wait...

It's annoying...and I'm a girl!

Women preach on about wanting equality and all the rest...but it's only really equality when it SUITS them. Yes, we should all be earning the same wages, yadda yadda, but...unfortunately, you just CAN'T have equality. Not fully. It doesn't work. Women are better than men at some things, and men are better than women at some things.

If we were equal and had the same strengths, we wouldn't need two genders.

The point I'm trying to make is that whilst women shouldn't say "Oooh, all guys are assholes", guys ALSO should not say "All women are bitches, C-words", yadda yadda. It's not really about being feminist, it's more about mutual respect for each other as separate genders with different habits, ethics, morals, behaviour and thought processes.

Any statement of "All of X is Y," or "All of X is better than Y." is inherently false.
All squares are rectangles. :-D

Sorry. ;-) I actually agree with the OP: it's sexist. Unfortunately, society isn't current hardwired to deal with discrimination against men in the same way as it does with discrimination against women.

Surely some other escapists have run into girls like this. The ones who will make statements like "I wish we lived in a world where all guys werent complete fuckfaces". Even if they aren't necessarily (stereotypically) feminist, this just totally drives me insane. I don't want to say it's sexist, because I almost think they don't mean literally "all guys" when it's said, but it certainly comes out that way. Like if I said "I wish all women would stop being such dumb bitches", I'd probably be assaulted for it.

How much does this annoy others, if it does?
Whenever I hear people express a sentiment such as: (insert a particular group/gender/subculture here) are all idiots, I simply correct them with "everyone is an idiot."

The one thing that everyone in the human race has in common is our capacity to be dumb/rude/arseholes/arrogant etc etc. You just have to accept it and move on.

Then your ass is grass.
What does that even mean? I like Grass, it's nice to lay down on; cool, fresh, relaxing. Is that a compliment?
...And I'm the lawnmower? You've never heard this before?

I guess it's not too well known. "Your ass is grass and I'm the lawnmower."
so your going to tear this said person's ass up, this sounds strange looking at it from a perverted point of view

If you accept its failings you will be less disappointed by the bad stuff and feel better when the good stuff happens.

Usually after hearing this I just ignore it and re-assure them that not everyone is.

But after reading this thread I thought back at previous encounters and realized how much of a asshole I was without meaning to hurt anyone. I don't know why I did that but I did. I generally tear myself up about it because whenever I interact socially I just can't think of anything or act inappropriate.

Back on subject now, I guess some men just act like asshole either without thinking or are just misread by intentions.

i guess thats a way at looking at life, i just thought that if you click your heels together 3 times, and say, "there's no place like home" you would instantly go to an awsome place

"You just made a General Statement about Stereo typing all men, so If you think there all the same. it must me you that make them that way"

did not go down well but I laughed about it

Taking into account that the estimated number of people on earth by the United States Census Bureau for 12/01/10 is 6,884,909,953.

I will assume half of those (3,442,454,976) are men.

The number of people one meet defining "meet" as "a face-to-face exchange containing a clear, if momentary, recognition" between oneself and another. Ranging from something as simple as a wave, a greeting or a smile all the way to a life long friendship (obviously everyone counts only once). Could be maybe (generously) like "William Least Heat Moon" said 100,000. Or it could be complete rubbish. But let's say it isn't (rubbish) and that half of those are men.

So

3,442,454,976 ---------- 100%
50,000 ------------------------ x%

x = percentage of men one could meet in 90 years of life = 0.001452%

Assuming she can only judge the assholeness of men she has actually met, and even if every men she met in her entire life was in fact an asshole. Only 0.001452 percent of all the men on the entire world would be an asshole. I like to think that is not much.

This number could be refined to less insulting numbers if we knew if she has traveled much within the country or world, how old is she, etc.

Just tell the girl she's a B with a capital C and see if she figures out waht it means.

anyway, it annoys me, but I'm not that thin skinned. besides, usually I did something asshole-y(? really, thats spelled right?) for them to say that first.
Nice Picture!
OT: I agree I was thinking of saying you're generalizing until I figured out you were making a pointt about that.

All I have to say is this - girls will use all-encompassing statements when they only mean one guy. But that one guy is enough of an a-hole to encompass the entirety of mankind.
