"Am an asshole so i cant say nuthin really." - Well the original suject in this thread never bothered me since they're clearly just idiots to believe such a thing, whereas to hear a reply that involves a variation of this quote, is extremely annoying.

Well since I'm a pretty nice dude 90% of the time I'd just ignore it, it does annoy me a bit though just because it's such a generalized statement.

Feminism means only that you want equality of the sexes.
Linkara from TGWTG has proudly proclaimed that he's a feminist multiple times. Unless you're particularly sexist yourself, you should be a feminist.
Then why call it "feminism"? Why not "humanism" or "equality"?

The intended definition of feminism may indeed be equality between the sexes, but the word itself emphasises a feminine point of view, and quite a few feminists actively encourage discrimination against men - they call it "positive discrimination" as if there can be any such thing. To some self-professed feminists it's nothing more than a revenge fantasy for generations of perceived poor treatment at the hands of men, but taking it out on today's men, most of whom have never in their lives even thought about oppressing any woman.

I want to see true equality between men and women, but I would never call myself a feminist, the word has too much other baggage attached.
Just look at your reaction- the term immediately illicits the idea of women getting so many more rights than they, by current standards, should have. That's exactly why the term became the name for wanting equal rights between the sexes. At the dawn of feminism, the idea of women being peers to men was outrageous, and therefore, the term implied exactly what it was intending to do.
Nowadays, the gap has gotten a lot closer, but the word still remains. The term's been around for over 100 years, though, and saying that one should abstain from Feminism or anything relating to the term because its antiquated name may suggest something is irrational.
MMm I can copy paste the n-word where feminist is and suddenly your argument falls apart.

Care to try again?

Just because a term has been used for over 100 years and had relatively benign origins does not mean it still has the same connotation today as it did then.

For example the swastika. Before ww2: Oh hey its a symbol of another culture. After? NAZI!
oooh but it's a symbol that is over 3000 years old and means "to be good". That means we should still use it!

Things change, People change, Culture changes. I'll give you that feminism means equality between the sexes and it still does. Unfortunately the radical version of it gets more airtime on the news as well as stirs people's emotions simply for being more radical than what is to be expected of the norm.

It annoys me to an extent, however I remind myself that there seems to be a majority of men in the world who are "fuckfaces" and hence just accept it and continue with my business.

as a giri i HATE when chicks say crap like this.
im sure most of you have the same issue i do.. every single time you log onto facebook, your feed is loaded with the girls on your friends list "men suck!" yadda yadda status updates.
that's bull.
in my experience, it seems the girls who are complaining that ALL guys are assholes, are assholes themselves.. yet somehow they fail to see it and therefore cannot understand why guys are "treating them like crap".
it's both sad and irritating.. i'm on your side here guys.

This wouldn't bug me if it was said in anger/frustration (who hasn't said something like this when they're angry? Be honest. Yeah, I thought so.) but if it was said with literal intent then it might grind my gears a little. Depends on how well I know the female in question. Responses could range from a "Want to talk about it?" to "Women are total fucktards too." Depends how I feel.

All social generalizations bother me a little. No one human being is actually that much like another (though many of us certainly try to be)... to take 49% of humankind and say they're all rude and brutish is completely ludicrous... much like saying the other 51% are all vindictive and hypersensitive. Just plain silly.

Yes it annoys the hell out of me :/ i have a girl friend (a friend who is a girl just to clarify) who says stuff like this all of the time because she got with one guy who treated her badly. So she regularly comes out with the typical 'all guys are the same!!' comments. She seems to forget that most of her friends are lads though.

Only a man would start a thread like this...

Just kidding, in all seriousness I as a female can't stand women like that. I mean I understand that fifty years ago suffrage was needed to bring about equal rights but now it seems like most "feminists" want women to have more rights than men.
women have had the right to vote for 82 years
Here in Australia it's been closer to a hundred years...suffrage was a poor choice of words and I said fifty years ago in reference to the pursuit of women's rights going back to before the big action of the '60's.

It totally goes both ways, though. I mean, I'm a lesbian, and I frequently find myself saying, "GAH! WOMEN SUCK!" whenever things get hectic with my love life, and I'm sure guys do this too, if maybe not in front of women for fear of the double standard.

We all enjoy being a little dramatic and self-indulgent sometimes. And it's much easier to say, "ARRGH WOMEN!" or "ARRGH MEN!" instead of, "Why does everyone I date turn out to do things that frustrate me?" (Maybe because that would actually mean acknowledging that we play a part in what goes wrong too, and we like being right, damn it.)

It annoys me (or at least bugs me) when someone decides they can judge an entire demographic by the actions of a few of its members. In short, yes it annoys me, but there is nothing you can do about it because stupid people will always be stupid.

It annoys me when girls will intentionally hang around dickheads, then complain that they are hanging around dickheads.
Sounds like a group of girls i know
when their all together they act all flirty and complimating with each other and then when they get seperated they start calling each other sluts or other colourful words
and its all ways the hot ones
