don't want to buy off Steam as I now have a widescreen and the res fucks every game over 5 years old up
I play in widescreen on Half-Life: Source, and that works fine, as it has the same treatment as on all Source games
Hmmm... Might take a look then.
The original HL works fine on my 24 inch as well... well, bar the occasional crash, lol.. Go with Source - more stable for modern hardware. Or just wait an indefinite length of time for Black Mesa.

I'm sorry, but after playing games with gorgeous graphics from the modern day then playing Half Life you have to wonder what all the fuss is about.

I can appreciate that this game would have been really amazing like 10 years ago when it was out, but how the fuck am I supposed to enjoy that?

Half Life 2 and the Episodes, on the other hand, were a pretty enjoyable experience all round.
Seriously? The Half Life graphics are great, i see no problem with them and i only just got The Orange Box.
Erm... The Orange Box doesn't contain Half Life X/
/facepalm. Sorry, i thought he meant Half Life 2.

I have seen someone play it... a little... once.

<.<

I have seen the covers to the game.

>.>

I understand that there is a crowbar and a guy named Gordon Freeman.

Have you payed attention to this forum? Half the people here worship Valve. No good Valve-worshipper hasn't played at least one, if not all of those.
Wise words my man.

I've yet to meet a pc gamer who hasn't played the HL series. And I have played and found them all to be more like a tech demo for their physics engine than a game, so thank you and good day sir.

you mean like... all the 4 H-L games?
What about deathmatch, blue-shift and opposing forces? (although the latter two were made by different companies)
i still enjoyed them though, especially the bits where you saw bits from HL1...that was cool...

I made this thread because of my growing concern that too many pc gamers haven't played the original half-life, half-life 2, half-life 2 ep 1, half-life 2 ep 2. I strongly recommend that everyone who hasn't played those, should definetly play them.
And while everyone's at it, play Earthbound, DooM 2, Quake 3, Unreal Tournament, Day of the Tentacle, Myst, the Chzo Mythos, Serious Sam, about 4 billion obscure indie games and all those other games which get barely a mention on the forums of this site.

But I don't think that will happen.
And Okami! Please buy (and play, if you want) Okami. PLEASE.

I was actually going to get that for Christmas. But I got a Super Nintendo instead. All aboard the Herp-Derp Train!

Might I also add I enjoyed the original Half-Life a lot more than any of it's sequels.

Wow, anyone who hasn't played those can't call themselves a pc gamer. Just like anyone who hasn't playeda game ever can't call themselves a gamer.

This is because Half-Life is so fucking kickass that you can't have played it and not be a Valve whore.

Who's a PC gamer and hasn't played the Half-Life games?
Me. Unless you count playing the demo of Half-Life 2 for a few minutes. I frankly can't see what all the fuss is about. I've never been a big FPS fan, other than when it comes to the Left 4 Dead series and Medal of Honour: Pacific Assault, and puzzles put me off.

You've clearly never met me.

I think it's distinctly average.

Well, thanks.

I have, but...urm..

Thanks anyway...

EDIT: And I might as well mention that I've never met a single hardcore PC gamer who hasn't played at least one of those games.
I totally agree with Furburt on this one.
