Valve has only cancelled the Portal 2 Event at Regal Theater but they will still show Portal 2. And since most people are already expecting ep3, the "surprise" would hardly be a surprise, if they really show ep3.

Personally hoping for HL2: Episode 3. HL is the only series remaining that can make me giddy like a 5 year old on Christmas morning, so I'm of course, biased. ^________^

Also, that fake is AMAZING! Don't suppose anyone has that in 1920x1080? Or if it even exists in said resolution?

Although I think they should have released it a long time ago, I won't get too excited about Episode 3.

Heck, for all the time it takes them to develop it, and the little improvement each iteration have, I don't even think the name "episode" is due.

Personally, I think the suprise will be GLaDOS saying: "LOL, we were just messing with you. It is, infact, Portal 2."

That said, I do certainly hope that this will finally be the announcement of Half Life 2. It would be about time anyway.

I honestly don't care if it comes out or not. I may be in the minority here, but I found Half life 2 and the episodes to become really boring after my second playthrough. The first time through was ok because I was in it for the story, but the gameplay was still just linear encounter after encounter of fighting the same enemies with the same 9 weapons! The prison level bored me to death on my 2nd playthrough and I put the game down, never picked it back up.

It's been a few years now since episode 2. If they do come out with 3, it will have to have some changes to make me excited again. Like, I dunno, maybe more various weapons & enemies, non-linear levels, and things like that. However, that's a big IF.

That's not really a surprise, I would be surprised if valve where going to release it sometime before the end of the world.

I don't know what it actually could be. New Counter-Strike? Half Life on the DS? The fact Glados sent the email means it is likely Portal related.

This massive surprise is being pretty damn hyped up, I can see a lot of people being dissapointed with it if it turns out to be crap.

One is a Both are groundbreaking games that has spawned a thousand mediocre sequels, the other is a painfully generic game published by Microsoft. Do you see?
