All the price of a full game with all the content of DLC? And lest we forget it's Halo.

I say it's shit.
Wow, people still think it's going to be nothing more than a DLC-sized expansion pack? Seriously, read some news stories that aren't a year old before making comments like this.

Wait... What? The more I cry about how many games are milked out of Halo, the more Halo they make??? I'm lost here Steve, help me out.
I think he means that the main reason it appears like Halo is being milked is because people are whining about it so much. If everyone chilled the fuck out they'd realise a trilogy and a spinoff over nine years isn't such a big deal. Halo Wars was an RTS adaptation done by a completely different studio, so when Reach comes out next year we'll have a total of five Halo FPS games, over a ten year period.
Is that really so bad, given how every sports game gets remade each year, how there's about 15 games now with Tom Clancy's name plastered on them? Not to mention the 150 or so games that feature Mario.

To make it even clearer; there's more milking of the "milking the cash-cow" meme by outraged "fans", in my opinion, than there is actual milking of the cash-cow. At least so far. For me, the blithering about "milking" is more tiresome than the actual new content. (Yes, even the underwear. That's how low I rate the whining.)

It's a successful franchise, but it's no Final Fantasy or Pokemon. And it's certainly not milked nearly to the same level as the iPod or Batman (even granting the reset). Not even close.

Honestly, this is just trolling. Read some news, and stay up on events if your going to post about something. The game is much longer than originally thought.

Better. IMO a one or two hit series is much better than 20.

They actually were thinking of doing an MMO. Idea died though, and from the concept arts you can thank fuck.

Yeah, I saw the concept sketches. (From Ensemble, IIRC, and they leaked out as the studio was bleeding to death.) Well, I can't fault them for brainstorming, and who knows there might've been a valid game concept somewhere in that hash of half-baked ideas, but the "bare midriff" MJOLNIR armour for some reason sent me ballistic and made me glad it died before it inflicted further harm.

I'm sorry, but that's what selling-out/milking looks like, not something that's true to the original.

Didn't care when I first heard about it, REALLY don't care now that I know there is no co-op and multiplayer outside of fucking Live.

Excuse this minor shouting for a sec:

WHY THE FUCK IS IT THAT SIDE-BY-SIDE CO-OP GAMES AREN'T BEING MADE ANYMORE! WHAT, DO GAMERS NOT HAVE PHYSICAL FRIENDS, THEIR ONLY OUTSIDE INTERACTION IS WITH THE INTERNET?!

/end shout

I'm wondering what people will call it for short? Bungie could've picked a better bunch of letters there.
I'll say "Od-st", in just 1 syllable. I rock :D

OT: Meh, Firefight looks pretty good.
looks like they copied gears of war 2 horde- without the head popping and bloody high rpm alien slices

Halo 3: ODST = Milking the cash cow.

The funny thing is that the cow died years ago, and the little milk that they can squeeze out of it is kinda chunky and smells horrible.

Aren't metaphors great?!

Milking the cashcow...People are silly for saying this.

WOW, I laugh at people who love there HL, FF, Pokémon, Mario, Zelda, Street Fighter and what not.

Halo 3: ODST is gonna be great, the story is a new angle, always loved the ODST and it's nice to see each one is unique and has there own personality.

It's got great voice talent, a more focused story (which Halo 3 was lacking, me thinks) and some, seemingly, good characters.

Guys, 5 games in 2 years isn't bad at all, and Halo Wars doesn't even count since it wasn't made by Bungie.

Also, the game isn't DLC, they said the story is the same, longer then H3, plus there is firefight mode, which looks better then Horde IMO

LOL.

Tempting as it is to leave that simply as above, despite the risk of Moderator Wrath, I'll be kind and let you know that ODST supports all the play modes of Halo 3's campaign, including 2-player split-screen co-op (same as Halo) and 4-player co-op over Live or system link with up to two players per console.

The "two players per console" limit is because of the rendering engine's demands upon the graphics hardware and processors of the console when playing the campaign. Multiplayer can support four-per-console by turning the graphics detail down and dropping all sorts of special graphics effects, plus there are fewer objects for the engine to track; campaign play, for reasons I don't know, cannot.

So save your ire. Shared-couch co-op isn't dead.

I liked halo 1 and 2, I didn't see how it was as great as everyone was saying it was but it was still my favorite game/games. Then Halo 3 came out and I thought it was cool. And then.... CoD 4 came out and showed me what a real fps can do, halo requires no skill, only the luck to spawn next to the biggest and most shiny weapons, and even then there is ALWAYS the prick who has been playing it since the day who came out and will kill you with an smg. But on to ODST, this game has potential, it can combine the tactics of CoD 4 with.... whatever it is that makes halo good, i can't figure it out, so we will have to wait and see.
Now, because you derailed the thread with a rant, I shall ponder a question:
In what way does CoD 4 take skill? You don't even have to play the game to level up...
Maybe by the fact that bullets actually kill people?
That you can actual use every tactic Halo doesn't, and Halo's only tactic is "Rush good guns, jump alot, throw over 9000 grenades, cross fingers."
CoD4 has a skill factor to it.
Shields ruin Halo.
Or maybe its the fact that grown ups play CoD4, whereas it's always little boys playing Halo3. Hell, my little brother plays Halo 3 and he's fucking retarded.
Well, depends on what you mean by "kill people". See, when you fire your gun, unless you have the magical(perk name escapes me) better bullet damage I will call it, it won't do much. Also, only one gun is really used, the M16. It can basically do everything.
Your second point describes Cod 4 perfectly, besides the good guns, as everyone already has it. Right in the beggining, you throw random grenades, and how for the best. and the "jump a lot" is replaced by "crotch a lot"
Where is the skill factor? It's basically Halo 3, but worse.
and regenerating health ruins Cod 4. At least it makes sense that sheilds are in. Also, regenerating health isn't very "realistic" in my eyes...
Dude, more kids play Cod 4 than halo 3.
