They're technically called "spores". However, since Day 12, I've been calling them "popcorn", since when you hear corn, *pop*, it generally means more will pop, as is the case with the first game. Unfortunately, in Halo 2 and Halo 3, they're more like wet balloons than popcorn.
I call them "those tiny...things, squishy, kill them, annoying, gah!" I should probably come up with a shorter name. =P
Squids...Of course conversations go along the lines of "AHHHHHHHH SPUIDS! THEY'RE ALL OVER ME!!! DAMMIT I DIED! F*** Y** SQUIDS!" etc..
My buddy calls them "your friends". Because the first time we found them in halo CE, one latched onto me and i looked at his screen and said "Look! he wants to be friends with me!" as he was chewing on my face. It was pretty funny.
I like to name the seldom few infection forms that follow me. Once I had two of the little buggers following me around the level 'cortana', I named them Jerry and Luis, when they finnally died I even crossed two plasma swords over the place they died.

I was talking about Flood Spores specifically - see this [http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Flood#Flood_Spores]. The Flood have more traditional microscopic spores as well as the larger "headcrab" creatures.urprobablyright said:

They are simply known as infection forms. Because they are the forms of flood that infect and reanimate corpses.
