WHO CARES!

The games started crap and got progressively more retarded as the franchise wore on. I sincerely hope that there won't be another Halo game, mainly because I don't think the world can take another massive dose of stodge.

In any event, the Halo series probably won't die completely, as Bill Gates didn't get to where he is - a solid diamond palace on the Moon - by letting go of a good money-spinner simply because of a trifling little thing called plot. Francises are the vaginal yeast infections of gaming - once they've arrived, they're monstrously difficult to get rid of.

With the exception of the Half-life series, obviously. They're OK.

I think it'd be really cool to see something that ties Marathon and Halo together. There are enough similarities for me. First there's the marathon symbol on the cover of the halo case. Additionally, there's the picture of the Protagonist on the load screen in Marathon 2 who looks quite similar to Master Chief. I know all that we get to see is a suit of armor, but the armor is still similar.
Additionally, there's the machine gun that launches grenades. It looks quite a bit like the assault rifle from Halo, and of course your secondary fire in Halo is throwing grenades.

I doubt they'd make a remake of Marathon for the 360 because the port of Marathon 2 with better textures and dual-stick controls is already available on Xbox Live Arcade.

As for Halo 4, it will be made. It won't be called Halo 4. It could take place anywhere in the timeline.

I highly doubt they'll tie in the Marathon universe. Microsoft owns the Halo franchise, not the Marathon one and I assume if Bungie were to try and combine the 2, Microsoft would assume control of Marathon too. Which Bungie do not want

NO IT COULD NOT.
THEY KILLED OFF THE MASTER CHIEF.
DO NOT TELL ME OTHERWISE.

But seeming as Bungie is the young LucasArts (With less brains), I just know they're going to anyway.

I'm pretty sure that they bought themselves back of MS with their royalties from Halo 3.

Research before you post.

I probably should myself.

EDIT: Fine. There, it's gone.

I still remember hearing it somewhere... but where?

I did, and the halo franchise seems to belong to MS. If you're not sure don't put "Wrong" in your post, it make you look like a dick insted if simply misinformed.

Bungie announced in a recent press release that they will be releasing an extra campaign mission for Halo 3 as DLC.
You can read it here: http://www.gameinformer.com/NR/exeres/FE03CE58-949B-459F-8F47-53F5A79D5169.htm
They say some interesting stuff about Sergeant Johnson at the end. Possible plans for the next game in the series?

Caps Lock is Cruise Control for Cool.

... Beat the game on Legendary, Master Chief is not dead.

Personally, I wouldn't mind a Mass Effect style RPG in the Halo Universe post Halo 3. You deal with negotiations between the humans and flood as a new test "Spartan" sans helmet so we can see the characters face (helmet can pop on for combat). You're job is to eliminate rogue groups on either side (human or alien) that still put up resistance during negotiations. This series of events leads you, some how, to the planet MC was heading to towards the end of Halo 4. You can either A) Kill off the remaining previous spartans who might be trying to destroy the last of forerunner tech that could ascend the humans and Master Chief could be the final Boss (epic!) or B) work with them towards said previous goal or C) something else, I'm not the best writer.

I would totally play it, though. You could have a grunt as a party member for comedic relief XD

I doubt it, Real life usually requires story, plot, and people having actual character behind them and ambitions and development etc. Maybe if the entire human race succumbs to poor plot development and everyone gets a freakin lobotomy, and then we make random crazy aliens who for some barely explained reason attack us because of some crazy unexplained reason thats never dictated further than "THEY ARE NOT RELIGION US WE ARE NO GUYZ LETS FIGHT!"

Oh wait, virtually all the gamers have.. Yeah Halo 4 will be commin.

Besides being poorly articulated, I would have to say that there have been plenty of conflicts in the history of our world that have resulted from "They are not the religion we are" type thinking.

Aliens who think that they are superior to us AND think their religion is better. NOOOOooo That could never start a war...

And they're the violent religious type instead of the intelligent religious type to boot.

Firstly, there are 100 ways to revive a franchise (if you need proof...think Alien Resurection), after all, if wipeing out the flood in a huge cataclysmic explosion didn't do the job after 2 attempts...whats to say that the 3rd time will work?

Next, many conflicts...screw the formalities! They're wars. Many wars have been started by one group of people being slightly different from everyone else. In the context of Halo though, it is somewhat spurious as to why the aliens have their sights set on our extinction.
While playing I got the feeling that the following occured (someone correct me if I got it wrong because I've never read the graphic novels):

Humanity makes contact with the Covenant, they say 'join us on our great journey', we ask 2 questions 'can we be in charge?' and 'does this journey have anything to do with our religions?'...to which of course the answer is 'no'.

Bob's your auntie's living lover...a war is started.

You mean like the Crusades? Seriously, religion has been a reason for war lots of times.

Some of you have obviously not payed close enough attention in regards to the Halo story. IT'S DONE. Halo 3 was the series finale. FINALE.

All the flood are dead. The Covenant disbanded. The humans are at peace with the Elites and the Elites went back to their home world. DONE. FINISHED. NO HALO 4. Damn.

And Valaska... religion has been the start of many serious wars and is the reason why many people are hated, beaten, killed, tortured, and outcast everywhere.

Woah, really? I was totally unaware of this development, despite it being mentioned repeatedly in this thread alone.

it's probably not gonna happen. most games series with at least 3 titles usually go on to make more, but bungie stated that halo was a trilogy, so they wont make a halo 4, but they could make a spinoff or something (see halo wars)
