Why is people think that this is done solely for the money. Of course it is a part of it, has to be it is a Job after all, but mostly it is done because it is a Anniversary. 10 years of awesomeness so now we get a great game with updated and extra features for £20 under the normal price of a game. They can have my money.

If Pokemon has made so many remakes and sold them all easily, its not going to stop a very popular franchise like Halo or CoD from doing the same.

I was very happy to hear they were keeping ti exactly the same, a pure graphic remake is what I wanted.

MMmmm People who still have the game on their original xbox won't buy it back unless they want it Live or something.

Still, my old xbox got RROD (Yes, it's possible) with my copy of Halo in it. It's stuck in there and I can't enjoy it anymore. If I had a 360, I would've considered buying it since it's one of those games that my brother and I seems to enjoy playing in co-op.

There's also the factor that it's an old game and some people got their copies lost, scratched, "borrowed for x number of years to someone they don't remember", etc... Yeah, they might want to buy it.

Edit: I'm just happy that my old xbox didn't get RROD while I was playing Silent hill 2. Do you know how hard it was to find that game from where I come from?

I want it, just so that I can play Halo in 1080p. That's it. I now only have an original Xbox, and so this is actually a good intro to the 360. No massive graphics jumps. I will actually only play with the old graphics, but that's personal preference.

Also, nice Spaceballs reference in the title.

Didn't read the OP, as any non-ZP or me rant on the internet is usually excruciating to read/watch.

However, I do think this Halo Anniversary is an uninventive way to make a load of money. It's annoying when Nintendo do it, and it's annoying when Microsoft do it.

A lot of us never played the original Halo. Some people might be interested in it. I know I'm not, but plenty of others might be.

"The Quest for More Money"? You do realize that's why these companies make games, right? Money fuels the entire gaming industry - it sure as heck doesn't run on fan love. At the end of the day, you have programmers and bills to pay, and you can't pay them with fan appreciation emails.

If 343 studios wants to graphically upgrade Halo 1, so be it. It's their money, it's their time, why can't they make whatever they want? Even if you don't think it's a good idea, remember, they're not making the game with your money. They're making it with their own cash. So what's with the moral indignation? Doesn't a company have a moral right to make what they want?

Also, some people might have sold or lost their original Halo disc and might want to relive the campaign in HD.

Not being a big Halo fan myself (I only ever played Halo 3, and that's because it came with the 360), I'm not terribly interested in Halo 1. But I know others who would be very interested in it.

Also, they are working on Halo 4 now. That's gotta take up a lot of time and money. They probably don't have the resources to fully remake Halo 1.

To be fair, even Reach still has a color palette tenfold of what you see in most shooters.
I can't disagree there. Maybe FPS developers think that there's some unwritten rule that bleak palette=good game. Whatever happened to the good old FPSes that focused more on fun than graphics or realism?

Why is no-one calling out Nintendo for doing the same thing with ocarina of time 3D?
In the first response on this thred i did call up Nintendo for doing the same thing with Legend of Zelda. Hoever, for some reason, they are allowed to do it.

Yet if Microsoft do something to make money, then they're Infidels and must be purged!!!
To be honest, I'm not to thrilled about Microsoft (or anyone else for that matter) doing it either. I'm also confused by fanboys buying a HD remake with a few extras, but I suppose some of them would buy the Ebola Virus if it had "Halo" on it.
and everyone nintendo fanboy would buy shit if nintendo name was on it right?

Achievement! Futile rage against the sea (25pts)

What balanced person cares about this or any other iteration of Halo, or any franchised game for that matter? That's the big question: who the hell cares? If you care enough to be starting threads and ranting against it, then you really need to take a Red Pill.

The quest to make money? What's next for revelations? The earth is round?

If you don't want to buy the game, don't buy it. Take a step back and examine your own life. If you are so against mindless and wasteful production and consumerism, there's probably a heck of a lot to rage about in your daily life.

Remember, the achievement for having a balanced view is 25pts more!

Go for it!

Please tell me how many HD remakes are changed in any way except for the updated HD graphics?

Beyond Good and Evil HD - Same game.
Sly Cooper HD Collection - Same game.
God of War HD Collection - Same game.

Please look at other games before you start bitching on popular games. This isn't new Sherlock.
Yes, you are so right. Similarly, my DVD shelves are lined with special editions, remasters and anniversary editions, and they too are, 'same movie'.

But why stop there, the 'Same Game' scenario is what a large percentage of mainstream (core and casual) gaming is all about. Adding a feature here or there, or adding better visuals or sound, yet everything else is pretty much the same. It isn't that different to what Halo Anniversary is doing, though its a remake and not a sequel.

I just don't understand it when people start rage threads like this when the solution they're looking for is so simple: don't buy the game. Don't read about it. Don't look at it. Don't think about it. Let it go and enjoy other games.

Easy.

Oh but no! The developer should be ashamed of themselves, as they rub their hands together in devilish glee imagining all the money they'll make. Yeah, that's what's really happening. And Microsoft is just looking to pay a few golf course fees and so started the developers on this quest. Such evil evil developers. The game is all a scam. They're basically spammers. Malware purveyors. They make the gaming equivalent of popups!

Yeah, too right!

*sigh*

All I ask for is to be surprised once in a while by the online community. A rant thread about Halo. How predictable. It doesn't help in the slightest.

Ok I'm sorry if someone else has pointed this out but its gone 3am here and I'm tired, and while I skimmed the last couple of pages I probably missed someone pointing this out . Lots of folk have said don't buy it if you don't want it and other reasonable comments, but I thought I would pose this question instead, are you still using videotapes/cassette tapes? Most people bought films on vhs and probably paid say £10/$15 for them, but then dvd's came along and people paid £10 /$15 again, to have that same film again but on the newer format. So if it's ok to spend 'x' amount on something, why is it so bad to spend 'x' again to have the same thing again with minor changes to its format, distribution method , etc? Ultimately it boils down to how much value you place on something, personally I'm very frugal with my money, always shopping around for the best price. That being said I've purchased the original 'Transformers: the movie' on vhs, dvd (twice on each format damn special editions!) and will probably buy it on blue ray aswell! I suppose what I'm saying is that this isn't a new phenomenon and it isn't hurting anyone that doesn't want it so why worry? :)

My reason for buying it:

First of all:
My Halo CE disc is fahooked... since it came free with my Original Xbox, doesnt have a case...

2)
Halo CE doesn't run smoothly on Xbox 360 anyways.

3)
Online Co-Op

4)
Updated graphics as well as alleged extra features.

5)
Heres me hoping the firefight map that comes with has the flood included.

I love CE so im gonna buy it. No matter the cost. Unless its over $100, then Bungie (sorry, 343 industries) can go f**k them selves.

You get to play multiplayer co-op through an amazing campaign, and you get better matchmaking for a new sparkly CE. I really don't understand your problem, because I'm excited to be able to play the original halo online on xbox.

Well I agree somewhat about the new trilogy I think if they are going to make new games they should not call it Halo 4 but they should call it something like Halo: Forerunner.
But the anniversary I think is something that will only appeal for people who have either never played Halo:CE or are die hard Halo fans.
