On topic: I too doubt that this will be the last we've seen of the Halo IP. I really enjoyed the series, but I think it should come to an end with Reach. Mostly because it's Bungie's last Halo game, and I'm not sure if another developer could do the property justice.

Bungie are probably the only company that has let a series end without milking as much cash as possible.

Yeah it's not like they released a bunch of mediocre sequels to what was a great first game, or released an rts spinoff of the franchise, or released two games in the franchise outside of the original trilogy. I would say that aside from the obvious cash-cow milkers, nintendo, capcom, and maybe konami, Bungie are one of the biggest offenders.

Blame Microsoft for that, not Bungie. They had said that if it was up to them it wouldn't have been a full priced game.

OT: This will be the last Halo game that I'll buy, because I doubt that the series will be as good as Bungie has made it. I am looking forward to what Bungie develops in the future with eager anticipation.

You're title bothers me. According to the Abrahamic religions (Judaism, Christianity, Islam) people who die don't become angels. Angels are different beings entirely, more like lesser gods really. Seeing the misconception that angels are the spirits of the dead always annoys me (and since it's an extremely widely held misconception it just annoys me more than it really should).

Anyway, regardless of how I'd feel about the Halo franchise ending it certainly is not ending. Microsoft has a studio, 343 Industries, dedicated entirely to the Halo franchise.

Halo isn't really ending since there's a cliff hanger that 343 Studios can pick up from when they feel like it. Bungie just isn't gonna work on the Halo games anymore. I can think of my games series that probably should've ended (COD). I mean, if you're complaining a series went to make 5 games, you should get use to it. GH produced more games in 3 years than Halo in 10. I think series should end when they naturally would. I don't care if they make 1 game or 20, as long as I enjoy, since that is the point of gaming... ALOT of people forget that.

I agree with everything said there, but focusing on the 343 Studios part, they've got people from Bungie working there, including the writer (who's name escapes me right now). I have full faith that Halo will go on and be just as good (in my opinion) as it was before. And while little new was added since Halo 2 (I think you're forgetting Forge and just how awesome that was, and firefight was fun) there are still a whole fuckload of people who love those games.

And, going on to the rest of your post, about people making a lot more games than Halo, I'd just like to use the Final Fantasy series as an example. I don't like those games, there's a lot more of them, and I don't make immature comments like...

and to be fair, they are not usually monotonous. 1 was the start a genre, 2 improved multiplayer, 3 was a bit samey, wars was an RTS, ODST involved a completely different angle on the FPS, and reach is probably going to have the same problems as 3, but at least theyve overhauled some stuff
why does it need to die? is the presence of boxes with 'halo' on shelves hurting you? and buy the way? my grandmother died of cancer. i dont think she was killed by halo.

Really? Why is Halo a cancer besides it's bland. I could think of a lot of other games that are worse then Halo.

It should have freaking ended with Halo 3, so then I could have a good final oppinion of it. Now we've got a boring RTS game, another FPS just like the 3rd except sheilds don't recharge, and an upcoming prequel. Who ends a series with a freaking prequel?

I say the series ended at 3, and these new games are just the spinoffs some company made to get some money off of faded glory.

Bungie ARE giving up with it true but have also given Microsoft the rights to continue the francise, so you'll almost certainly see a lot more games, animation, books and probably a movie coming out in the near future.

Actually, Halo isn't over. 343 Studios was opened to continue the Halo franchise while Bungie goes on to do something else. So expect to see more of this drivle in the future. Of course, I don't hate this series, but I see missed potential. If only the Chief had more characterization than a glass of water, or if the enemy army wasn't staffed with "comic relief." But I don't expect these things to ever change, so I will continue to ignore it. Reach may be the last decent Halo game maybe. Fuck, who cares?
