This really is turning out to be a great game. The armor abilities, the weapons, the gameplay all look so different yet it this might posssibly be the most addicting game in the universe.

I thought it looked pretty mediocre. It looks a lot like Halo 3, which I don't like much either. I can't tell from that video if there is aim assist, that's what makes Halo that little bit shittier for me, the fucking aim assist.

Why is this complained about so often? I distinctly recall the option to turn off aim assist. Do I have the only copy in the bloody universe with that ability?
I know you can turn it off, but that's not my point. I'd rather aim assist not be in the game at all, if I turn it off I'm fucking myself over, because in battles where I don't have the advantage over the enemy, they'd have the upper hand in having auto aim on, especially with the fucking melee and close range assault rifle spray.

The environments look a bit dull and similar to Halo 3, but the gameplay looks like it's going to be really fun.

I never understand why people hate Halo 3 so much, it's far more balanced than COD.

Cause the Halo series in general is pretty mediocre. The multiplayer is decent but it's not nearly as good as Tribes was, which is the series Halo basically ripped off a lot of their core gameplay mechanics from

Im sure im the only one asking, but can you use Elites in any game mode? Ive only seen them in an Invasion style game and not in a mixed race slayer.

But in what way is it mediocre?

The mechanics are tight, it's balanced, the maps are well designed, the frame rate is solid, it looks good...

How is it mediocre?

Invasion eh?

Well my mighty Sangheilian bretheren, tonight we shall tramble the shrivelled remains of all those weak and useless humans..... MWA HA HA HA!!!

In a serious note, hell yes. In some respects this looks like everything I loved about Halo, being put on steriods.... should be sweet.

Yeah, you can. In Invasion one team is elites, the other is Spartans.

I've also seen gameplay footage that clearly shows elites battling other elites. So my theory is that there is Spartan versus Spartan gametypes, Elite versus Elite gametypes and Spartan Versus Elite gametypes.

Should be awesome, I love playing as an elite.... as most people on this site have no doubt guessed.

Honestly, I've found Halo to be above average. The story and campaign are lacking, but still not terrible. The multiplayer is one of two (the other being Battlefield) that I actually enjoy. In my opinion, Reach is looking to be a giant ball of fun that improves on most of the problems with the last Halo games.
I've always found this game top of the line when it comes to MP and gunplay. I just never liked the look and feel of the game at all.

Rainbow brite colored aliens running around firing weapons that look like they were designed by fisher price has never been my cup of tea....=(

It's like the argument people have for Gears, Killzone 2, Fallout 3 being too gritty looking grey and brown except it's the opposite for me here.

The single player is filled with mediocrity. But even that aside, everything about multiplayer is a been-there done that feel to it (aside from, possibly, vehicles. I don't know what game was first to do that, it's possible it was halo though I'd somehow doubt it). But like I said, most of the mechanics are taken directly from Tribes (regenerating shields, floaty jump, hell now they've even stolen the jetpacks) but Tribes did it better. Plus in tribes you could ski which was amazing and no game has ever done that since.

No you can't. Elites and Spartans play very differently now, and to balance it they can only be used in certain game types (spartans v elites).

This is Halo's comeback
I wasn't aware it ever went away.

I don't mean that in a really disresepctful tone, I'm just saying that Halo's still been selling like hotcakes even while the Escapists have been killing each other over how mediocre it may or may not be. Maybe not as well as the 'proper' games, but still well enough. I'm not getting into that argument again, by the way.

I didn't think I'd be excited for this game - the E3 teaser made me groan when I saw it - but after seeing some of the things they are trying to do with this I'm actually hyped for Halo again.

I do hope the story is up to snuff this time. The Halo games have always been pretty epic, but they've never been as good as some people might have you believe.

First I want to point out that yeah, I hated halo 3 too.

dude you do realize that almost ALL console fps's have aim assist, right? they need it in order to counter the bad maneuverability of hand held controllers. If they didn't you would bareally be able to shoot any thing.
