Invasion eh?

Well my mighty Sangheilian bretheren, tonight we shall tramble the shrivelled remains of all those weak and useless humans..... MWA HA HA HA!!!
We aren't humans.....were SPARTANS!!

To clarify here is the size comparison between a Halo Reach Spartan and a Halo Reach Elite:

Elites are also faster, have better shield technology, can take more damage and are better at evading.
So... as you can clearly see, lowly ape, your species is doomed.... DOOMED!!!!
whaaaat? since when? the book clearly states that the spartan shields are superior on a couple accounts. And it never says elites are FASTER, it COULD be true with there size, but no way would they have faster reflexes u.u

Eh. Looks like same old same old Halo to me. Never was much of a multiplayer guy, especially on consoles, so maybe my point is invalid. Still, probably won't get this.

Whoever that was in the video, he sucked balls. He didn't use sprint once, when he went up against the ghost he couldn't aim with his rocket launcher, and he didn't use armor lock, he couldn't aim with DMR, and he switched out a shotgun for a sword.

I...I don't even know what to say, except that I hope he's never on my team.
You know that sprint and armor lock are two different armor abilities, right? And you can only have one.

From the mouth of Bungie itself, the gameplay advantages the Elites have over Spartans.... we mighty Sangheili have no reason to humor the weaklings that are humans anymore!!!

My only concern is the maps... Didn't Bungie say they were using maps from the campaign? That seems pretty weak to me.

I think they should take 6 of the best maps ever in the Halo series, like blood gulch and Last Stand. There should be an official vote on what maps should be integrated. Then they add 5-6 new maps, themed mostly around the planet Reach, which seems to be what Bungie is going for in these campaign bases maps.

Since this is the supposed last Halo game, I think all of the classic halo maps should be integrated, because the maps I'm seeing here aren't very impressive, save for the new game types.

This way, Bungie could capitalize on the success on their previous awesome maps and not have to imagine so many new ones all over again. Because it must be hard to keep imagining refreshing map themes and keep the layout interesting.

Also, make the new assassination feature in FIRST PERSON!!

Maybe they'll re-skin some of the old maps and sell them to us for extortionate prices. Seems to be the cool thing to do nowadays.

omg those bastards, they just gutted the spartan greatness they've been writing several books about just for the game?! >_> that is always the smaller persons thing, especially considering they're enhancements.

Seems pretty likely. Personally I dont like the maps being all from the planet Reach. I hope bungie does well on the maps.

Actually I think it's only fair. The Elites have had to be given the crappy deal in mutliplayer for a long time, complete with a redesign of their model.... and this has been going on for quite a few years. Trust me, given the way they've balanced out the game, it is NOT an injustice. It's fair given how much crap the Elites have had to endure from Spartans up until now that we FINALLY get something good coming our way.
Besides, the Spartans in Reach are Spartan III not Spartan II and as a result would have less effective shielding because they were widely considered much more expendable than the other Spartans.

One note, Elites do not dodge faster, in Halo: Reach, Spartans can't dodge. That's a modification exlusive to the Elites. Spartans sprint, Elites roll.

Still I can sort of understand why you would be a little annoyed by this, but in all seriousness I just think this is no injustice. Rather it's a form of apology for all the lousy deals elites got in the past two Halo multiplayer games. We had to hunch in Halo 2 and we got less armor perm options in Halo 3. It only seems fair that given that they are leaving the franchise to finally right to wrong and give elites some form of advantage.

By the way, sorry if this seemed at all arrogant... that wasn't my intention. I was merely stating my own opinion and I apologise if this may have come across as hostile.

This bothers me slightly as well. Surely the way you design an environment for the singleplayer campaign is different for designing a multiplayer map? Are they just lazy?

That said, I bear no ill will towards Bungie or their games and I honestly want Reach to be awesome. Because I'll almost definitely be buying it.

So they are stronger now because they were a little behind before? ._. is that why the pistol is back and stronger? and grunts, will they're weakness be compensated? darn they are changing the story T_T in the book, the reach spartans were equal to the chief.. he was there but he was doing a space mission above reach with some spartans while the rest went too the surface. i dont think they even had shields then though. Any other specific differences?

I just want to but in here and share my knowledge with you guys about the differences between the Elites and the Spartans :D

This time around you do not have mixed teams, due to the fact that they are so different. You know that, so I'll go on to why the shields are different. And you are right about that DarkDain. The Spartans didn't have shields during Reach, not as far as I remember at least. And if they did, they probably wasn't as effective as they turned out to be later on. And remember that John-117 is the only Spartan with an AI in his armor. I guess that means he is the only one with that advanced armor type. But I haven't read the books in a while, so I don't remember that fully.

Anyway, from what I have learned you can play Elites in more modes than Invasion. But what determines if you can or not is beyond me. Maybe the maps? Or maybe it is an option for the one who is hosting?

The hitboxes are different of course, so you are easier to hit when playing as an Elite. This should level the playing fields a bit, but they are still stronger it seems. Especially since you have to pick up health packs when you play as Spartans. Which makes sense, since you had to do this in Halo:CE. And since this happens before Halo:CE, it follows the continuity. I guess the new armor John got in Halo 2 had the health regen ability.

Anyway, I might not have said anything new after all, but maybe I did. I don't know :p
Oh, and Giantbomb.com has a good video on Halo:Reach. It can also be seen on Halo:Waypoint.

I for one is actually looking forward to the SP more. I was never good at MP in Halo, but I guess I will try it when I get the game sometime. I still haven't played ODST, so might get that first. But my first priority now is Red Dead Redemption... man, that game is gonna rock. Especially the MP. We should get an Escapist Posse together :D But that is way off-topic! Sorry :p

Im sure im the only one asking, but can you use Elites in any game mode? Ive only seen them in an Invasion style game and not in a mixed race slayer.
No. Elites are far more powerful than the Spartan IIIs. So it would be unbalanced.

Yes but some inticing gameplay footage has shown elites battling other elites.... this has lead me to believe that one can choose between Spartan Versus Spartan or Elite Versus Elite, with Invasion being the blurring line.

Hopefully you can customise elites and Spartans in Invasion mode because otherwise making Machininma feautring both has hit a snag.

Im just glad, and quite suprised that Bungie seems to be actually trying for once.

Halo is without a doubt the most ridiculously overrated game series known to man, its not 'epic' its just the same stuff we've seen in every game ever made.

Its not bad, but its not great either.

I admit i currently own every Halo game save for Wars, Halo 3 was my first 360 game, i bought Halo 1 for PC before then and I admit loved the campaign, later i bought Halo 2 Vista pretty much for the story and 'cos i missed many of the Halo 2 maps, too bad noone plays it, and i got ODST mainly cos i could and expected people would play that somewhat entertaining firefight mode.

Im personally against the idea of everyone having the same gun and being magically dropped in an arena full of guns ready to get 20 kills for whoever spawns next to them, what does piss me off to some degree is people going on about 'skill' in games, Halo in particular is just a dumb mediocre frag fest with the winner generally being the guy with the biggest stick, theres no 'skill' there, not that it even matters, these 'sup3r aw3sum mLG pR0' tards can go f' themselves.
I hate 3's matchmaking and its campaign isnt even worthy of mention, but I had and still occasionally do have a lot of fun with custom games with my mates.
As for forge if your going to include a map editor at least make it decent.

But now seeing as Bungie are redisigning everything and trying some things differently, im exicted, and will likely grab the beta as soon as it comes, although it will probably be an over 9000 gig download.
I go more for the fun factor in games, but I wont neccesarily believe its the greatest thing in the world if i just like playing it.
For example i had quite at lot of fun blasting through Bioshock 2, but still realise that its just a new campaign to the first with the guns in disguise and is one of the most disappointing and most quickly forgotten about sequels evermade.

Overall I had fun with the Halo series in general (except for 2, nobody likes 2 and ODST is Halo 3 in a change of pants) but its still ridiculously overrated.

The environments look a bit dull and similar to Halo 3, but the gameplay looks like it's going to be really fun.

I never understand why people hate Halo 3 so much, it's far more balanced than COD.
And pretty much everyone hates CoD's online.

Looks interesting but like all halo squeals. They fail miserably to live up to their hype for me. I know magazines and whatnot give it retardedly high scores but for me, I won't be buying it until it's about £10 2nd hand.

I am really getting excited for Reach. Everything I hear about it makes it sound even more awesome, and will definitely be playing the beta. Halo easily has the most entertaining and balanced multiplayer, IMO, I've always enjoyed the campaigns (even if 3 was a bit short, I for one loved it, and I also loved ODSTs campaign), and it looks like it's going to be really bringing a lot of new stuff to the table. Not to mention the fact that the games actually use color.
