Halo Reach still needs tweaking

Now this is something that REALLY needs to be fixed. I don't expect a lot, or any of you to agree with me, but here it goes... THE ASSAULT RIFLE NEEDS MORE POWER! Really though, a pistol beating me at mid-range? Something doesn't seem quite right with that...

EDIT: Maybe I'm not being clear enough. My point is that the assault rifle should be more effective than the pistol because the pistol is a pistol, and an assault rifle is automatic.

EDIT(again...): I know the pistol is more effective, My point is that the assault rifle and pistol should be an even match at close and mid-range. I think that sounds pretty fair, since those are the two standard weapons you start out with. Also, I don't think the assault rifle needs to be a lot more powerful, probably just by 5-10%. I don't think that's much to ask.

Well there's three problems with your statement.
1. They're not going to tweak the pistol because everyone loves the old Halo 1 version.
2. Maybe they headshotted you with the pistol because I assume you still can't headshot with the assault rifle.
3. CAPS LOCK

Yeah, the AR really could use some more power. But I'm not complaining, as it made the campaign a little more challenging when you couldn't just five shot grunts like you could in Halo 3...

I prefer Reach's weapons, personally. If the Assault Rifle were any more powerful, we've be right back in the same boat we were in in Halo 3, where every firefight devolved into running at your opponent and mashing the melee button as quickly as you could.

In Halo 3, most of the fights I was in devolved into the guy with the Battle Rifle winning every time.

I believe if the assault rifle were more powerful, the fights would be a lot more shooty and a lot less punchy.

/thread.

OT: The pistol is fantastic. It's reminiscent of Halo: Combat Evolved (which I wouldn't bet against the OP being too young to remember).

I use the assult rifle just fine.

Fire in bursts, and you'll find its a rather good weapon.

And of course you can't beat the pistol, its basically the Halo 1 pistol AKA the deadliest weapon ever made.

The AR? Not powerful enough?
I'm not sure what brand of paint thinner you've been drinking, but I'm sure you'd find that the new AR is superior in every way to any AR we've ever had in a Halo game up until this point.

The assault rifle's just fine, but I do agree Reach needs some tweaking.

However, the important part is, Bungie ARE tweaking it.

I think the only weapon that needs tweaking is the grenade launcher. Sure you can knock people shields out easily but I wish if at least you hit them directly with the grenade, it would explode on impact and at least do massive damage. I can kill with a plasma pistol faster...

The assault rifle doesn't need more power, you just need to get in closer, then beat them to death with it.

What it needs to me is players joining/leaving during matchmaking rounds. Big team and objective become unplayable 4 out of 5 games I play because too many little angels decide playing for the objectives is noobish and leave.

It's cooler, certainly, and feels better, but statistically it's less accurate at long range and slightly less powerful than Halo 3's (18 shots to kill a fully operational Spartan rather than 16 or some shit like that).

i thought an impact hit with the grenade launcher was an insta-kill...?
Well sometimes it might be but i find that 90% of my grenades fired just bounce off the target. I tried even holding down the trigger and release it when it comes in contact with enemies but almost every time, it only takes their shields down and maybe some health. I cant count how many times I've died to someone with a plasma repeater or an AR when I hit them directly and switch to my secondary (most of the time it's the AR or pistol) and tried to finish them off that way.

The grenade launcer has 2 modes of fire: if you hold and release the trigger it does an emp blast that taks out shields, but if you just tap the trigger it shoots a more powerful explosive grenade which will kill in one hit dead-on. The tap shot is harder to get a hit with though because it only explodes on impact, not trigger release.

I knew the emp only kicks in if you manually detonate it but I thought it was suppose to have basically the same punch. I read up on it from 4 different sources not saying anything about a change in power just only the emp effect.

why are bnet. kids invading the escapist.

head shot weapons should always have advantage over spray weapons. why? because they take skill to use. the assault rifle broke halo 3 multiplayer because all you needed to do to get a kill was charge and shoot. so far reach is ridiculously better because of the reduced AR

I don't think the EMP takes down health at all, unless their shields are already at less than half or something. The grenade launcher EMP is really just like an AOE plasma pistol...combine with hand grenades for multi-kill excitement.
