I've said it before and I'll say it again...

I'm still not sure how Kinect will handle 90% of the games I enjoy.

It will probably be as useless as the ps3 sixaxis. 2 years later no hardcore game will actually support it. Besides this sounds worse in a online match it will be easier to simply press a button then do a motion and online is where most hardcore gamers go.

Yeah.. The simple fact that they said the exact opposite not so long ago makes me want it even less. Seems like they realize there's not that much hype over it so they're trying to scrounge from the stupidity of both audiences.

Although I asked all my friends who happen to be casual players what Kinect was just to do a little test. They all thought I was talking about K-nex the childrens toy, so sucks to be Microsofts advertising department.

Kinectimals is hardcore material alright.
Ah, but they haven't announced the Rageinamls for the kinect. In this "M" rated version, you breed your animals to create better fighters, train them, and equip them with weapons (like razor blades attached to their claws!) Then you have them fight to special guest commentary by Micheal Vick. (PETA's already making picket signs and it hasn't been announced yet.) Would that be hardcore enough for you?

...Bull shit.

Also Elder Scrolls 5 with moving would be stupid.

Id be out of breath running from one side of the Imperial City to the other, let alone all of Cyrodiil...
I don't think they plan to have you literally running, that would probably still be controlled with a joystick. Just things like minigames controlled ala "Minority Report" and you look around with your actual head instead of a joystick. I think it has potential...but, then again, so did the Titantic...avoid the icebergs!

I wonder...when will somebody from Microsoft ask us "Would you kindly...purchase the Kinect?"

Petting a tiger? Fuck thats hardcore. I dont think I can handle it.

Does he realize they haven't yet shown even ONE hardcore title with the kinect? Keep trying Microsoft, maybe get a new marketing team? The one you have now is failing to impress

Because only hardcore gamers can play games with smiling tigers and fairies.
I have already decided about motion controls: they're unnessecary, annoying, don't work if you're too far away, don't work if you're too close, hard to pick what you want on the screen, and a boring excuse for exercise. I have played through 1 single game on the wii, because it was from a series that I loved and I had a wii that never got used by me, so I played it. It was a great game, but the only holdback was THE MOTION CONTROLS. If you're running from monsters and you accidentally point the controller off screen, then your guy stares at the sky, turns around, and walks straight into a group of killer beasts. The worst part is if the controls hadn't glitched out, I would have made it to the exit. But the wii said "No, you have to be eaten alive when you're almost safe. It's part of the experience!" oI have not played the wii once since finishing that game, and will probably never use motion controls again. If I want exercise, I can play a game of my choice on either the Xbox 360 or PS3 and do situps at the same time. I've done it before.

As far as Nintendo and the Wiimote go, I'll agree to disagree with you. I loved my NES. I loved my SNES. The N64 had it's moments of glory. The Wii is just... ugh. I think I hate it for the same reasons I hate Rock Band and Guitar Hero... which I will leave off for another time...I'm not the of elitist "I'm a core gamer and everyone else sucks" you make me out to be. I just don't think WiiSports qualifies as a game.
So because you don't like it, and you're 'hardcore', then no 'hardcore' gamers will like it?
I know 'hardcore' gamers who hate FPS games. Does that mean they should go join the military and shoot a gun for real? And they aren't really games? No, of course not. That's silly. Just like it's silly to say that Wiisports isn't a 'game' because you can go do those things outside.

So what? You don't play Wiisports to play real Baseball or bowling. You do it because it's fun.
You don't play Rock band or Guitar Hero to learn guitar. You play it because it's fun.
The underlying theme here is: Fun. And people are having it.

And if you don't like those games? Don't get them.
I'll be buying Kinect, I won't be buying Star Craft 2, and I will be buying Mass Effect 3 and Crysis 2. It's all about what you want to play. I'm not trying to convince you, or anyone else, to buy Kinect. If that was the case, I'd ask Microsoft for a paycheque. But what I am trying to convince people of, is that Kinect broadens the audience of the 360, while still keeping the 'core' gamers happy with their titles. It might not be for you, but that's the same subjective opinion that keeps me from buying Starcraft 2, or someone else from buying Mass Effect 3.

Also, controller Enhancment shit like this is always a bad idea. Didn't we learn anything from the Power Glove and the Wiimote?
The Power Glove I can understand, but the Wiimote?
The main controller for the console that outsold the crap out of the other two?
The main controller for the console that has Nintendo swimming in money filled pools, and then drying themselves off with more money?
The main controller for the console that introduced gaming to a who massive group of people who otherwise would have never bothered?

That Wiimote?
Just checking.
Yes but, the Wii is not very popular with the hardcore folks, since most of us are perfectly fine with a controller with buttons and not really into jumping and waving in front of our TV. If Microsoft tries to force-feed the Kinect to the hardcore folks, like, make it mandatory for games like Fable 3 or *the horror* Mass Effect 3, that will make alot of people VERY angry.
Right, I forgot how poor Dance Dance Revolution sold.(Just saying there is a market for it but not everyone will be into it.)
You didn't mention Rock Band or Guitar Hero. I think it has potential and can't help but wonder how many people are hating on it because they're lazy. I mean, I don't think Microsoft is expecting people to do full workouts while playing. (I'm hoping) that they do this right...please...please give me the controls that mirror "Minority Report". Stuff like that would be great.

Well... I would consider myself at least a moderately hardcore gamer, and I haven't bought a Wii yet. If Nintendo can't convince me to spend $150 on their console, there's not much chance of Microsoft being able to do it either.

Now, maybe in a year or two when Kinect is (hopefully) much cheaper and could possibly have a decent library of titles, I might be willing to check it out. Until then, fat chance.

No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no! This is exactly what I was worried about! I don't want my games to have stupid, tacked on, utterly pointless gimmicks for Kinect in them! I don't want to have alchemy in Elder Scrolls have me use Kinect! If it becomes mandatory then I'll really be pissed, I can only pray that it doesn't come to that.
Couldn't agree more. Kinect was created for the casual market and it should stay that way, I don't want to see it attempts to shoehorn it into, you know, *good* games.

You mean the same hardcore gamers you specifically said it wasn't for will buy it first?

I'm looking forward to this thing's failure with the hardcore crowd. Did they not learn from how well the Wii received among hardcore circles? We're not being screwed twice.

It's a play on words of Kinetic, as in Kinetic energy.

Can they please decide what Kinect is? A couple of days ago it was officially casual, now it's for the hardcore games.

Did you even bother to read all that I posted or do you just tunnel vision to the points you want to complain about? Because that seems to be the case.

I'm not so sure that it does mean that. This is Microsoft, after all.

Though the mere fact that people can disagree on the meaning of the name sort of hints that a proper spelling might be a better idea, yes?

Microsoft's Ryan Moore thinks that there will be plenty for hardcore gamers to enjoy with Kinect, even if it doesn't seem so right now.

Despite comments [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/101581-Microsoft-Kinect-Not-For-Core-Gamers]Xbox Worldwide Product Marketing Manager Ryan Moore thinks that it will be the core audience, rather than the casuals, that will be the first to buy the hardware.
Wait - so by the hardcore audience, he doesn't mean career fraggers, but those who must have every element that's involved with a product, right?
So he's saying hardcore gamer's possessions = b, and the Kinect is a subset of b, thus a hardcore gamer's possessions will include the Kinect?

Well, duh. Way to explain set theory.

(I couldn't bring myself to erase the happy tiger, though. Too many have been erased already.)
