Closest I came was in MGS4 at the very end when snake is about to kill himself in the field of Roses, but then he meets his father again...
The Darkness was an awesome game. I didn't "cry a river", but was very sad and dropped tears.MonadProxy said:I recently finished the FPS "The Darkness". I quite enjoyed the gameplay but the story was down right depressing. This is what id call an immersive shooter because i found myself feeling sad and helpless from certain plot points through out the game, But i finally cracked at the ending (It was probly because i had just tiny bit much to drink). I cryed, it was so fucking sad.
I will stop now and save what man-like dignity i have left.
So have you ever cryed over a videogame or has a game ever triggered some other unexpected emotion?
No it does not. Deep emotions like love and sadness feels extremely out of place in Gears of War, and it destroyed the immersion completely.DVSAurion said:Does it make me a terrible person if I actually laughed at that scene?Mister Awesome said:gears of war 2, when dom finds his wife and shes all messed up and he has to kill her.
that was pretty damn sad
Anyway, I'm pretty sure I've never cried playing a game. Probably would have if Tali and/or Mordin would have died in my ME2 playthrough. I can't think of anything else, that would be even close to get me to cry.
Gaah! Spoiler tags, they are your friend. That's < spoiler=Game Name> Spoiler < /spoiler>, except without the spaces.bladax said:Prey - when you have to put down your girlfriend
Homeworld - You leave to return to a fire-stormed planet.
Saints Row 2 - Carlos, Nuff said.
Max Payne - Everything he loved falls apart... seriously.
Half Life 2 episode 2 - You all know it... fucking combine...
X2 The Threat - Brent Serra, your best friend, flies himself into a plasma field of an unknown enemy super weapon to save the sector your in.
DING! It was mostly the huge mid-game revelation that did it for me.Marter said:Final Fantasy X would be the closest I've come, I think, and I was really only sad that it was ending, not because of the actual game.

Didn't make me cry, but I ended up in kinda emotional state. Had it been the Pliskin / Snake doing the sniping and not that Raiden...
EDIT: Seems like is messed the quote, well to lazy and tired to fix it.
That is exactly what happened to me my first time through, but Tali didn't mean as much to me then as she does now (she's now my preferred love interest in the game). Thus, though I lamented the loss of the funniest character in the game (Mordin), I did not cry.DVSAurion said:Does it make me a terrible person if I actually laughed at that scene?Mister Awesome said:gears of war 2, when dom finds his wife and shes all messed up and he has to kill her.
