Heavy Rain had my crying in one of the early chapters when Ethan is trying to connect with his son Shaun, sadly to no avail. I still think that is the best game I have ever played, and if I could wipe my mind so I didn't know the plot, I'd do it all over again.

The elevator part with the spider mounts in Overlord 2 was so frustrating I nearly shed a tear and destroyed my gaming equipment.

Am I doing it right?

I recently finished the FPS "The Darkness". I quite enjoyed the gameplay but the story was down right depressing. This is what id call an immersive shooter because i found myself feeling sad and helpless from certain plot points through out the game, But i finally cracked at the ending (It was probly because i had just tiny bit much to drink). I cryed, it was so fucking sad.

I will stop now and save what man-like dignity i have left.

So have you ever cryed over a videogame or has a game ever triggered some other unexpected emotion?
The Darkness was an awesome game. I didn't "cry a river", but was very sad and dropped tears.
I also sweared curses to the developers for that ending :)

touchy and dramatic game.

Does it make me a terrible person if I actually laughed at that scene?

Anyway, I'm pretty sure I've never cried playing a game. Probably would have if Tali and/or Mordin would have died in my ME2 playthrough. I can't think of anything else, that would be even close to get me to cry.
No it does not. Deep emotions like love and sadness feels extremely out of place in Gears of War, and it destroyed the immersion completely.
Played ME2 last night to try what happened if you screw up the last mission (I've played it through twice with all surviving. I mean, what's the deal people?) and guess who died? Yes, Mordin and Tali.

Never been moved to tears by a game but the ending of Half-Life 2: Episode 2 came out nowhere and I'd say that's the most emotional I've felt from a game.

No word of a lie here, <spoiler=Milla Vodello's nursery room in Psychonauts>where you find that all her children burned to death, crossed with the most terrifying version of "locking up one's nightmares" made me pause the game and sit there trembling and wet eyed. Which is weird, because such famous tearjerking moments like the infamous FF7 sequence left me completely dry eyed.

Also, the entire last level of Psychonauts made me cry, but for entirely different reasons.

The ending of Metal Gear Solid 4

In Metal Gear Solid 2

A few times.

At the end of Xenosaga III
because Jin dies and chaos stays behind and kind of "goes away." Not to mention everything was just so epic.
At the end of Persona 3.
The end of FFX.
I'm pretty sure I cried at the end of Tales of Symphonia as well,
mostly because it was a touching scene, with the tree and all, but also partly because of Kratos leaving.
At the end of Shadow of the Colossus, and I came close to it at the end of ICO (I think the only reason I wasn't more emotional there was because I was playing it together with a friend).
There are probably other times during games that I just don't remember at the moment.

Well there was a scene in Lost Odyssey when
Lirum died
Also the end of Kingdom Hearts 2 when everyone is reunited. It was just such a happy moment.

I would've cried during Gears 2, if my ass of friend hadn't spoiled it for me.

I would've also cried during Red Dead Redemption, if again it hadn't been spoiled by a troll on Youtube.

Final Fantasy X would be the closest I've come, I think, and I was really only sad that it was ending, not because of the actual game.
DING! It was mostly the huge mid-game revelation that did it for me.

Finding out that Yuna was going to die at the end of her pilgrimage, therefore making roughly 75% of Tidus's dialogue with her a fine bit of tragic irony, was a huge blow.

I actually nearly had my first experience of crying in a game in Metro 2033.
When Boris gets killed. You didn't know him, he had no personality due to only being with you for 1 level. So why did I get sad?
I was next to him when the Nosalis killed him. Something about made me feel that I got to him to late, and even though I tried, I failed to save him. His best friend huddling over his corpse afterwards didn't help me feel any better either.

I actually felt bad when looting him.
I still don't know why it affected me so much. It just felt more personal than other things.

Didn't make me cry, but I ended up in kinda emotional state. Had it been the Pliskin / Snake doing the sniping and not that Raiden...

EDIT: Seems like is messed the quote, well to lazy and tired to fix it.

I havent cried at a game, but there were a couple of games i had inside emotions for

the only one i can remember atm is final fantasy 12 : renevant wings. This annoyed me because I could never finish the game (got stuck about 20 hours in >.<)

I have almost cried with rage over a few games that had HARD and FRUSTRATING ending levels, only to have a terrible ending. >.<

OH, and when i was young, i used to almost cry in fear at some of the sega megadrive game endings (The lion king game over with the freaking scary pitcure of the bad lion whos name i cant remember, followed by a black screen with game over on it, while I was in a pitch black room alone)

Speaking of which, anyone else think that the words 'Game over' Look so aggresive. D:

EDIT: I also almost shed a tear at crisis core ending, NOT because of the ending itself, BUT because i just spoiled it for myself because i forgot I hadnt actually finished the game when i clicked the spoiler thang D:

That is exactly what happened to me my first time through, but Tali didn't mean as much to me then as she does now (she's now my preferred love interest in the game). Thus, though I lamented the loss of the funniest character in the game (Mordin), I did not cry.

Of course, it also might have something to do with the fact that I have surgically removed my emotions.

Not "had them removed", but "removed them". I am a not-very-certified "feelings surgeon".

My eyes still moistened at Toy Story 3, though...
